AN original but not THE original in the sense of being the first one. The real first one is available on youtube as well. It's the one where Jesse White is instructing other repairmen like a military drill instructor.
The late Jesse White, who was the original Maytag repairman here, later in his life had a recurring role on "Seinfeld" as a friend of Jerry's parents from the retirement community they lived in in Florida. Jesse is also in "Harvey", starring Jimmy Stewart, and in tons of other commercials as well. He was replaced as Maytag repairman by Gordon Jump (Arthur Carlson on "WKRP").
@elc1960 Yeah but did he actually know how to take apart a washing machine and put it back together again. Most laundrymats I remember had Speed Queen, 2nd most was Maytag although they would likely have them specially built and more durable for laundry mats.
yes, vintage...but innaccurate since Maytag started outsourcing its production to cheap Mexican labor in 2005

Those outsourcing decisions were made by another previous, massively overpaid CEO named Ralph Hake, until he had to leave when Whirlpool bought Maytag:
Another way to interpret this: MayTag repairmen are lazy slobs because they never get called to do their work. Therefore, never marry a MayTag repairman ;-)
That's actor Jesse White as the maytag repairman. I once saw him do a tv interview in which he was questioned about all the maytag commercials, among others, he has done. At that he reached into his inside jacket pocket, pulled out a thick, THICK wad of money, proceeded to wipe his brow with it and said something along the lines of, "yeah, its really hard work". :-)

Catchy though isn't it? :)

Yes, quite catchy :-) I'm surprised someone put a negative point on one of my comments when I clearly labelled it a joke. :)
