Met Travis at an anime con last year and I asked him why he was chosen. He said they were trying to decide between "teenage angst" or "total badass" I guess they couldn't find a VA that could achieve both, so they settled for "total badass" and Travis fit the role.

that was good lol. I dont quite like how deep kanda's voice is. I mean considering he's supposed to be japanese, and the japanese dont typically have ridiculously deep voices.

LOL, I love how people are hating on Travis for "ruining" Kanda. Let me tell you something, if you want to blame anyone blame the director, FUNI, and maybe the company who made this show because Travis doesn't get the final say on how he sounds. In FMA, the Japanese creators actually picked the roles. I wouldn't be surprise if the same thing happened here.
