  • I could only think of 10 states.

  • Wink Martindale >D

  • 0:24-0:34...Best Think Music Ever!

  • @iambernig ROFL....I know the keyboardist also did music for erotic films on the side.

  • i used to root for the dragon had fan clubs field trips

  • Really good stuff doesn't happen until the 7:25 mark, in case you're wondering

  • I miss this show on GSN so much

  • I agree that that deserved a standing ovation! The only one I didn't get was Connecticut, although I thought it might be one, just wasn't sure.

  • Are people that bad at geography that this seems very hard? I mean naming all 14 is good, but they made it seem like he was a genious.

  • @Jdog7117 Part of it would be having the stones to bid 14.

  • Way a go KIT!!! that's how you play the game of Tic Tac Dough.

  • Well, I've actually learned that "misspell" is a commonly misspelled word.

  • Well, he can't name what animal Timothy was, but he can name all 14 of those states!!!

  • just like Joker's wild the questions were very very easy!! D'uh the Chicago Lions???

  • Gotta love those Apple ][ graphics

  • Would I name this German Shepherd after Kit who appeared on Tic Tac Dough?

  • Kit is fukin on a Roll, who ever he is , man does he have confidance,...way to go SUKKAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!

  • If there isn't any game show video that you don't have Adam, I mean you have You Bet and You Don't Say and the original (My 5th favorite game show) hosted by Bill Cullen Price is Right!

  • The Auction category on TTD is similar to the Bid Trivia category on TJW.

  • Hard to believe that a 36-game winner with almost $200,000 would spell "misspell"... unless spelling was one of his worst subjects.

  • If one had the time to think about it, he or she could name all 14. To do so under such huge pressure, with all the studio lights and everything else, is nothing short of incredible. I remember this watching at home, and I was standing up with my parents when Kit nailed it. Thanks for posting this -- I haven't seen it in 25 years.

  • Does anybody have Wink's last show?

  • The category is... football teams that stink up the joint ..

  • Well, the Bengals did go to the Super Bowl twice in the 80s.

  • and, as my dear wife and long suffering Bengals fan is quick to note, they lost twice to San Francisco 49ers and haven't done diddly since they fired Sam Wyche and old man Brown died...

  • And just for the record, I'm originally from Detroit.

  • Kit was a beast for naming all 14 states in that one question. That was absolutely amazing!

  • I could do it also.

    Give the man his props!

  • Yes, I didn't think the question was that challenging either. But, it was difficult enough to warrant it being in the Auction Category.

  • that really wasn't a hard question imo.

i guess thats cuz i live on the east coast though

  • And so did Kit, since he hailed from W. Palm Beach, FL...that may have been a factor. :-)

  • This was before Wink left.

  • Well, that must be why he's there.

  • I lol'ed at that. Kind of obvious right, just like my comment.

  • Does any one have Kit's last show?

  • DownsA530 recently obtained that episode, and I'm sure he's planning on uploading that sometime soon.

  • Um, O.K. That should happen sometime soon.

  • This is why Tic Tac Dough is one of my favorite game shows.

  • I don't remember Kit having too many games that went like this, he won lots of his games by going straight to Double/Nothing or the Bonus Category, or "blitz" games as Wink called them.

  • I think that this was also the last season to have the circular TTD logo (seen on the floor) in the center of the stage.

  • Do you have any episodes where the buzzers were first used or the CBS version of Tic Tack Dough with the black boxes being jump ins?

  • Kit did win one game of Jeopardy in July 1999, but lost his second.

  • man only adding $200 to the pot for 14 answers? Pulling something off like that should have gave $200 X 14 = $2800 to the pot. I know center boxes are 2 answers and give $300 to the pot. That should have been worth more to Kit

  • Kit did win one game of Jeopardy in SUmmer of 1999.

  • Thanks; I haven't seen much of the mid-80's TTD era.

  • Wow. I can't believe this guy named all 14 states. What would have happened if he accidentally repeated one he already said? Would he have lost? Even if I knew all 14, I doubt I could list them all without repeating one.

  • Maybe they had a board that kept track which ones he said, like the WOF used letter board.

  • I remember watching kits run of matches when

    I was in high school

  • damn i remember watching kit's run as a kid (it was reruns already but still). if i recall he won 30+ games and he lost to a black guy only because he missed a question, and the black guy lost immediately after beating kit to an old lady.

  • He did to Bob Jenkins because he failed to spell "misspell" correctly and Bob won $3000 in cash.

  • did johnny gilbert fill in for charlie o'donnell before or during kit's run?

  • Johnny Gilbert announnced TTD before Kit's run, b/c a user named chrisvision recently posted up the 1st episode of TTD from S1 of the syndie run and it has Johnny Gilbert as the announcer.

  • I was a huge fan of TTD as a kid...I remember the last question Kit Salisbury missed: "I hope you don't misspell this word. Spell 'misspell.'"

  • I still can't believe his missed that.

  • Awesome. That is all I have to say.

  • :37, Cincinnati doesn't have the Bingles!

  • Wink kinda screwed up there in setting the stage for the Auction question...he's usually so astute in making sure everyone knows what's at stake on each question..he probably should have let Kit know BEFORE he made the bid that if he failed on the bid and Kathleen got one right answer she would win the game!

  • in the 83-84 season there was only one category in red used but in this game there are three categories in red

  • I remember watching this episode, I did not think for one minute that Kit was going to do it but it shocked me that he did.

  • Kind of amusing to hear Wink get a bit snippy with the judge on the pawn shop question..."well, I just thought I'd read what's on the card." Translation: "Hire some damn proofreaders!" :-)

  • Wait! that's a trick question.. Cincinnati and Detroit haven't had professional football for years .. :) don't take my word for it, just watch em play !!

  • I would've gotten that too.

  • The VERY tricky thing with that question is that people are tempted to say Pennsylvania, since people refer to it as a east coast state. Well done.

  • Oh man! American geography must have been a good subject for him in school. I applaud him for his confidence that he knew all 14 and that he decided to go for it right off the top of that question.

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

  • In fact Jack had already passed away before Kit Salisbury even made his debut appearance on TTD. His first appearance was sometime later in May 1984 and this clip actually show game 2 of the Season 6 finale. The Season 7 debut episode started with Game 3 between Kit and Kathleen. I don't know hom many games had lasted between the two but I know Kathleen had won at least $500 going into the Season 7 debut. And this episode was the last time Wink did a "Hat Day Friday" moment IIRC.

  • Kit won the match at the beginning of Season 7 at the end of the third game. He won $7100. Interesting Fact is that this was the last time the Grand Question was used as one of the red catergories.

  • Actually, Jack was still alive when this taped. He passed away just 2 or 3 weeks before this aired.

  • wow a standing ovation!

  • I know. Thom McKee didn't even get one in 1980 the day he achieved the (then) largest single jackpot in the format's history.

  • Didn't Kit once appear on "Jeopardy!"?

  • Yes. He won one game and roughly $12,000.

  • That took guts with Kit naming all 14 states that border the Atlantic Ocean.

  • WHOAAAAA!!!

  • Not that impressive. I'm canadian and I can name the 50 united states by memory. On that one I admit I missed three but I didn't work hard.

  • Little did Wink know when he made the announcement that one of his bosses would no longer be around for the new season. RIP, Jack.
