Explain this to me. We are "chosen". But the question is, for what? We were chosen to do something. The Torah says numberous times that "the children of Israel should do *something*". You quoted only one part of the argument. Rabbi Yochanan says a gentile should not, Rabbi Meir says they could. In the end they agree that the gentile should learn what applies to them, and when they do, they are on par with a levit priest. So it shows favoritism if anything, towards a gentile.

@Jewdicris I used to be an agnostic. I really didn't give too much thought to people of faith, just figured them for nice deluded people. I didn't believe in the goodness of man, so I don't believe I was very naive and still don't. I believed there was something out there but couldn't put my finger on it. Someone suggested I read the Bible and a relatively honest person I decided I would. He told me who He is through his word. That's all I can say with any certainty. Num 24:5-/John3:14-

The Talmud is a Jewish document, so lets stick to jewish documents like the book of Ester. The book of Ester was after the Babalonian exile which was when the Mishnah was compiled. In the book of Ester, Mordechai is called Mordechai the Jew, even though he was not from Judah. There is no tribe of Israel.

It's seems like some of the Gemara in the Talmud stems from Jewish bitterness towards christians. That being said, I think it is an important book when studying the Jewish exegetical explanation of the Old Testament.
