i call bullshit. the guy had a 12 inch stride you mean to tell me he blasted 400 ft shots with that weak ass swing? gimme a break. he was great but there's no way this was his in game swing.
By today`s rules Foxx would have won the 1932 batting title(the leader that year Dale Alexander hit .367 to Foxx`s.364 but only had 454 plate appearances).Foxx led the league in homers and RBIs which would have given him the Triple Crown.Foxx did win the Triple Crown the following year(1933),so he would have been the only player in history to win the Triple Crown in consecutive seasons!
@brianwells456comcast You have to remember something. In 1932, they only played 154 games. That is why the amount of plate appearances is lower, which allowed Alexander to win the title. Give Jimmy (or Lou, Babe, Hank, Ted, Joe and so many more), 162 games, and WOW! Double X was one of the best ever!
@kyokogodai Foxx was one of the VERY best ever!He had outstanding speed,a gun for an arm,was a very good defensive first baseman(who could also play third and catcher),hit for average, and of course hit for awesome power. It`s not surprising that his one time teammate Ted Williams ranked him as the 2nd greatest player he ever saw behind Dimaggio.(Williams later moved him back one notch behind Mays).According to several sources,Foxx lost two homers to rainouts in `32.Would have been 60!
@kyokogodai Actually, they did team up for 18 games as part of an all-star team that toured Japan after the 1934 season.Gehrig played the outfield though because Babe Ruth,as was his custom in exhibition games, played first base.Needless to say, they won all 18 games. The ageing Ruth stole the show by smacking 13 homers and leading in batting average. Most of those homers as well as his BP homers were mammoth drives that awed the players and crowd of Japan! The Babe is still revered to this day there.

@brianwells456comcast Could you imagine, back then, having Foxx at 3B and Gehrig at 1B on the same team?
