Another issue is the social security and medicare tax problem. The generation of WWII had a ton of children (the baby boomers). So you had a huge body of people to pay for the retirement of the war generation. But then as the baby boomers got old, who pays for them? The baby "buster" generation (Gen X) was smaller. Same with Y, iirc. So in that sense, you want people to have more kids to grow up to be workers and tax payers to keep the previous generation in care. right?

I must concur. I also agree with Bill, I am ashamed to say. Besides not having any money, there is no way that that mother can emotionally nurture 14 kids, especially without a father (or another mother) or anyone else in the picture. And she thinks she is going to have enough money to raise 14 kids AFTER she gets her master's degree. First of all, how freaking naive. I really dislike O'Reilly but on principle he is undeniably right here. I get sick of this grossly irresponsible attitude that having x number of kids is a human right. The irony of course is that the kids themselves are often disadvantaged. Sure, it's hard to formulate a strategy within a progressive context but this kind of behaviour should be strongly discouraged by those on the left and right. Education is undoubtedly one way of overcoming it.

It IS our business because we live in a society which has made it clear that we watch out for the well-being of others. Another issue is the social security and medicare tax problem. The generation of WWII had a ton of children (the baby boomers). So you had a huge body of people to pay for the retirement of the war generation. But then as the baby boomers got old, who pays for them? The baby "buster" generation (Gen X) was smaller. Same with Y, iirc. So in that sense, you want people to have more kids to grow up to be workers and tax payers to keep the previous generation in care. right?

@XSC3 Trying to get sexual behaviour under control is impossible, it is a biological drive to have sex. I said nothing about poor people or rich people. Or anything about wedlock, its all about the population growth, no 1 child policies, no sterilization, just honest sensibility. Fewer children also means that the parents can be more attentive with them which is a win win if I am not mistaken. One more thing, fewer children takes some of the stress off the aged inefficient school system too.

That the house wasn't fit for the infants... therefore she had no choice but to find a new home in order for her to bring her babies home from the hospital. Which lead to the house in La Harbra a home she's in now and paying the monthly mortgage. I also like to add that Nadya never lived with her mother, Nadya mother had her own house that went into foreclosure, she moved in with NADYA after Nadya went into the hospital to have her octuplets.

Nadya mom (Angela) at the time did not live with Nadya, she was living in another home she owned and that house went into foreclosure. Nadya was going in to have her octuplets and asked her mother to care for her six kids along with a nanny that Nadya had hired.

Duggar home was built/furnished free of charge. He did not do it alone! It was only after taking on TLC step in that you now see the Duggar driving around with all these luxury vehicles, going on free invited trips etc. Duggar kids are now adults and still living at home with their mommy and daddy raising their siblings for their parents. We only have their word on this and JB took on all kinds of odd/various jobs to support his large brood, but keep in mind they weren't rich. They lived in a 2 bedroom one bath home with 14 kids plus themselves. That's 16 people in a 2BR1bath house. JB sold everything he had, cars, business and the money he made as gov. and brought the land to which TLC, sponsor etc help build the Duggar home on.

The resource problem is not so much as our ability to produce resources, but in their equitable distribution. the first world uses more of the resources, but has fewer of the people (concentrated wealth). I'm not a socialist, I'm just pointing out a well known fact. wars and revolutions make it all the more sticky.

@XSC3, Nadya is not on any kind of government assistance and hasn't been going on two years. She's been out there doing any and every odd jobs she could think of to secure income to feed, clothes and shelter her family without becoming a burden to taxpayers. She even went as far as having a yard sale while turning down disgusting job offers that would shame herself as well as her family. She's a good mother, a humanbeing who made a bad decision and she's dealing with it on her own, without help.

@XSC3, Nadya choices after finding out she couldn't bare kids on her own the natural way, was through fertility, legal adoption and using a surrogate. But because of her current situation at the time part time school/work. The agency wouldn't have allow her to adopt and who would she get to surrogate? The state can't stop a woman from having her own kids and that is what Nadya deperately wanted. She saved every cent she had to make her dreams of becoming a mother a reality after her divorce.

@MsSarcia, I disagree. Having 5 kids is NOT acceptable any more. We are a planet that is choking on human beings right now. Us all mushing together, fucking, fighting, spitting on each other, shitting on each other (metaphorically, for the most part). It's too much, there's too many of us. If we keep reproducing at this rate we're going to lower the value of the human being and take away the precious few resources we have left.
Replace yourself and your partner, if you need more, adopt!

The more children one has, the more the family resources will be spread out. If you make $100,000 a year and have one kid, you could have a comfortable life and even send them to private school. I'm gonna be the bad guy here, but on one hand, no, we shouldn't take her kids away from her until we can prove that they're endangered.
At the same time, no one should be giving her money, it sets a bad principal. they're more or less saying "go ahead, have a crap load of kids, we'll give you money for it"

This woman is essentially hoarding kids, like some people do with cats and dogs. In animal cases, if it gets excessive, the humaine society intervenes.
Even if she does get money from the media, it won't last, as the public loses interest.
That many children packed into such a small space; a single mother, with only 24hrs in one day; and where are these kids while she's giving interviews?
