Skewed logic, Ads with the VP candidate running around naked with a Nader poster covering his #$%^ is that really what you want in the White House?
as long as we only get 1 vote, a 3rd-party candidate could never win because not many people want to "waste" their vote. But if we had a priority-ranked vote, we could end the 2-party Duopoly. So you vote for Nader #1, Obama #2 and McCain #3. Then even if Nader comes in last with #1 votes, your #2 vote for Obama is then counted. No more "wasted" votes.
BTW, I voted for McCain. Too bad paranoia, pretty-boy image, and massive media support got Obama into the white house.
Obama and McCain are both AFRAID of debating Nader. They have speach writters, well prepared answers to known in advance questions. They don't really deabate..it's more like sound bites and dog attacks.
Nader is way too articulate for Obama and McCain to stand a change of winning. So they just avoid debating Nader.

Ok, I've written the letters. As a Swedish/European citizen, who can't vote, and can't give money to any campaigns, it's nice to know that I can still make a difference in some way to stop this madness called democracy in America. This election affects everyone on the planet. Send them letters! No matter where you live!
In Canada, this month, the main parties tried to exclude the Green Party candidate from the debates. The people and media were outraged, so they pressured the organizers and the main parties, and got her in the debates. The Broadcast consortium has reversed their decision and allowed Elizabeth May to take part in the nationally televised leaders debates . The US people and media should follow this REAL DEMOCRATIC example. See greenparty(dot)ca/en/releases/09.08.2008b
People from the main parties get so frustrated with me because I don't take the various "outrages" they suffer at each others hands seriously. I'm an independent. The level of corruption in both parties is so overwhelming. It tickles me that they think there's any meaningful difference between red and blue team.
Back when the CNN-YouTube presidential debates took place, most of the candidates there had under 10% polling, and some had barely 1%. They were still invited though, why does that have to change for the general election?
If you listen to NPR, ask them to provide more coverage for third party candidates because apparently they think they are providing enough coverage to them (yeah right): npr(dot)org/ombudsman/2008/07/covering_thirdparty_candidates.html

Call the Obama Campaign (866-675-2008) right now and ask them to send a message to the higher-ups in the campaign about why Obama doesn't want to debate Nader. Tell them if he is really open to it he has to make it a public fight with the debate commission, not just say "I'm open to it."
And he has to agree to way more than the 3 debates sponsored by the debate commission, so we can break their monopoly.
Barack Obama and John McCain are no more different than McDonald's and Burger King. And even if one's better, neither is good for you. America needs to hear from independent/small party candidates such as Ralph Nader and Bob Barr. Open the presidential debates!

I wrote an impassioned letter to the organizers on their website, asking them to hold a third-party debate between Nader, Barr, and McKinney.
This would be very important, as the "winner" could see a significant jump in the polls.
It would be a risky move on Nader's part, because he could risk losing to Barr, but you know what: I believe in Nader's ability to debate and believe he would come out on top.
Too bad Obama's people don't have the same confidence in their man.

If enough people request Ralph, the likelihood of him appearing will be high. Perhaps we could also persuade the LKL produces to host an unofficial one-on-one debate between Ralph and one of the major candidates or an advisor for one of the campaigns.
All it takes is a few seconds of your time. What have you got to lose? Even if you find the debate idea to be unrealistic, it doesn't hurt to try.
write to both of them on paper and lets request Ralph Nader be on the presidential debates!Let Nader debate in 08!It's about democracy its about more choices and more voices.
I sent both letters to Google. I hope others reading this HAVE or WILL do the same soon.
I REALLY want to see Ralph Nader at the Google Debates. Let's see Obama & McCain handle the grilling on questions they try avoiding, that Nader WONT avoid.
Nader knows Obama & McCain will not answer to the idea of "Single Payer Healthcare" (the same Tax Funded Healthcare the President and other VIP's get). Naders plan to 'create jobs' IS far better. Obama & McCain are NOT saying what they will do.
Between the three, Nader is the only one not taking money from lobbyists and corporations. This matters to me because the failures and costly compromises made by the other candidates are due to their asserting the will of the lobbyists and corporations and not the will of the people. I want to hear the side of politics that will not be sold to the highest bidders. He may not win the election but his presence may help wake up the other two. Google please do the right thing, let Nader debate!

I strongly urge Google to include Ralph Nader in their upcoming presidential debates. Mr. Nader is a champion of Americans' freedoms and he has been silenced for too long. He has been unfairly banned from previous presidential debates. Americans deserve the chance to compare all the candidates. Google has the chance to prove its mission to change the world, by making a first step to change our broken electoral system. Please don't pass up this chance.

Ralph Nader....What a SAD, PATHETIC man you've become -- a bigot, racist, FAT PIG. You're old news dude, like the rest of the old farts from your era you're the past, you're mind is old, you're ideas are old, your're rhetorics are old, you're OLD period. Crawl back in your hole until you get sick and eventually die and disappear. If attention is what you want old man, I'm giving you mine -- here it is.
The democrats have proven that they are no different then the republicans by voting to continue to fund the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through congressional budget approvals for the last five years, and by continuing to support the war on terror scam that systematically removes our freedom under the false pretense of providing security, and the democrats also refuse to impeach Bush, Cheney and the rest of those war criminals
Obama is not at all like McCain, he has more corporate sponsorship, he is sounding off a great deal more to attract fringe right-wingers like as well as "unified" Israel groups. He won't clamp down on oil speculators, which everyone agrees is a big part of why its 4 bucks a gallon plus as a national average. health insurance companies, oil, banks, etc consider their contributions to be a investment for their stock futures. We all know McCain is Bush, but what does that make Obama?
The only way to make it a real debate is to allow all candidates an opportunity to be involved and ask the questions consumers want to know the answers to.
Let Nader debate so we can hear real answers to real questions not drafted questions and statements by corporations!
i love that voters get referred to as 'consumers'. we most certainly are all consumers in some way or another, but it is not our intellectual base state.
You know, as terrible a president as I think Nader would be, I actually agree with this. He presents a viewpoint that varies from those of the Democrats and Republicans and is supported by a significant amount of the electorate; thus, he should be included in the debates.
That said, I am incredibly fucking tired of Nader's attempts to paint Obama and McCain as the same person. Maybe if you got off the soapbox for a minute, you could do some research and find the differences in their policies.
They are both corporate interest groups who won't challenge most of the status quo in the internal system. It has nothing to do with the false left/right dichotomy the major parties use to divide people into making a false choice.
Nader said while Ron Paul was running he might vote for him if he were the nominee in the fall even though they were diametrically opposed in political views, but he is not owned by a corporation nor does he pander to lobbyists. Thats how McCain = Obama = same.
I think everyone running should have a chance (but if they did Obama and McCain would be exposed for the frauds that they are). Gravel was shut out from the Dems side and Paul from the GOP. Paul technically is still in it so if he remains GOP, then the only candidates out there who are at least sane are McKinney and Nader (I will not mention Barr because he's a snake like the rest. Of McKinney and Nader depends on your beliefs).
Whoever remains in the running should have the right to debate.

Let Nader debate!
Let the American people hear what Nader has to say. He is the only one speaking on several major issues. He is in the majority on most issues.
Let Nader be heard in the name of democracy!

Whoever remains in the running should have the right to debate.

ralph nader, and cynthia mckinney as well, should be participating in every presidential debate. that would be a step toward democracy.

I did just that today, but I didn't know who to attention it to. I'll seriously send two more letters with Schmidt and Hunt's names attention noted.
I also go to school in New Orleans! This would be AMAZING if Ralph debated with Obama and McCain.
