When you first start listening to this, it starts out kind of soothing. Then, it starts becoming unnerving! Then, you start to get paranoid!! Finally, you can't take it anymore and start to FREAK THE HELL OUT!!!

I think that's what kind of effect they were going for with the audience. Can you imagine listening to this in a dark quiet room, with no one else around? I'd freak out, too! O.o

@theliberator1 Ironically, if you listen closely to the screams of all the people during Instrumentality, it almost sounds like celebration.

Instrumentality happens by putting down your ego barrier (AT-Field). You exist in a place, not singularly, but as a whole, where people's strengths complement other's flaws, thus erasing any insecurities.

When Shinji instigates Instrumentality, he's smiling. He's no longer insecure.
