@oldeskoole623 The C6 corvette didnt get a new base engine until 2008 when it came with the LS3, this corvette has the same LS2 as the gto, with a few mods to make up for weight it wouldnt be hard to beat with the goat.

An yes the Vettes and GTOs have the same motor. They're all LS engines. The difference between the LS1, LS2 and LS3 is the heads.
The 04 GTO had the LS1 (350 crank hp) and the 05-06 had the LS2 (400 hp). I BELIEVE the Corvette in this race had the LS3, which is 430 hp. Can anyone confirm when the Vette went to the LS3?

GTO has drag-strip gearing for low times at the strip, Vette has circle-track gearing for low-RPM cornering & torque. Put the same gearing & tranny in the Vette and you'd have a race.

A GTO weighs way more than the 2007 vette and i persoanlly own BOTH cars and have raced them neck to neck many times and the vette kills it everytime in every category. the gto will run a 13's quarter mile at best while the vette is a 12's car.

I just got a 06 gto and even though its a LITTLE slower than the vette i would much rather have the gto than the vet because it is so much rarer. ther were less than 14K gtos made in 06. i see that many vetts a week

I ran my stock automatic 06 GTO 4 times yesterday in the 1/8th mile at the track against a stock 2008 6-spd Corvette, got him once cause he had a bad launch, but the one race where we both did everything as well as we can, he got me by 2, maybe 2.5 cars, and he was pulling, I bet he'd beat me by 3- 3.5 cars in the quarter.
Im not trying to start anything here, but correct me if im wrong. I believe the GTO runs a low 13 perfect run stock. CAI, exhaust, and a tune and you should be touching 12s.
Either the GTO is modded or the Vette missed a shift or something. Yes they are both identical power trains but look at the weight GTO 3725lbs vs Vette 3179lbs. But i dont want to take anything away from the owner of that GTO that was a good run.

A GTO weighs way more than the 2007 vette and i persoanlly own BOTH cars and have raced them neck to neck many times and the vette kills it everytime in every category. the gto will run a 13's quarter mile at best while the vette is a 12's car.

Nice run!
But the driver of the GTO should have heated his tires better. You can see when he banged 2nd gear the GTO broke traction. Otherwise I could see his GTO dip into 12's.

That would depend on the tires. Slicks or drag radials yes. Regular street radials would better at lower temps then drag/slicks.
Either way, he did hit second pretty hard lol

Ya it will kill almost every car but it is in a totally different class, the regualr C6 is faster than the GTO just not the driver.

I just got a 06 gto and even though its a LITTLE slower than the vette i would much rather have the gto than the vet because it is so much rarer. ther were less than 14K gtos made in 06. i see that many vetts a week

Great video, Awesome driving! I ran my stock automatic 06 GTO 4 times yesterday in the 1/8th mile at the track against a stock 2008 6-spd Corvette, got him once cause he had a bad launch, but the one race where we both did everything as well as we can, he got me by 2, maybe 2.5 cars, and he was pulling, I bet he'd beat me by 3- 3.5 cars in the quarter.

Im not trying to start anything here, but correct me if im wrong. I believe the GTO runs a low 13 perfect run stock. CAI, exhaust, and a tune and you should be touching 12s.

Either the GTO is modded or the Vette missed a shift or something. Yes they are both identical power trains but look at the weight GTO 3725lbs vs Vette 3179lbs. But i dont want to take anything away from the owner of that GTO that was a good run.

the vette is an auto ls2 (the "slowest" vette)
gto had catback, cai and tune. Yes, the vette "should" have won but it didn't so get over it- just goes to show even the vette needs to bring it's "A" game to beat the "fat, overweight, and ugly" GTO
