  • This looks kind of like Haganah mixed with some good old fashioned joint manipulation...

  • Yeah... Just hit the knife and he'll let go. Right...

  • @whatevar Yeah, this reeks of bull crap. And what's sad is someone might try using this and end up seriously hurt.

  • @whatevar this is why you shouldn`t learn MA from internet. dont you ever think why the black guy wears that armprotector?...your wrist, fingers and metacarpal bones are vurnerable, just ask your friend to hit it in full intense in case you dont believe me, cheers

  • Utter Bulshido! NEVER Go near the knife

  • best way to defend against a knife attack is to sprint away

  • puppytoss1234...i dont think guru maul is chinese, and yes it's racist..lol.

  • Ya gotta feel bad for that negro, he got his slo-mo ass kicked.

  • i love how its the chinese guy disarming a black guy ....is it racist?

  • These are cool i wish someone in youtube would upload the Okinawa-te knife attacks those are deadly and crazy :)

  • Why is he beating up Master Chief ?

  • @demonfox13 Because he's a pretty cool guy who doesnt afraid of anything

  • knife?

  • i want to learn how to fight, to be honest these are great moves but i can see myself doing any of these without proper trainning

  • Great video. I really enjoyed the variety of techniques. I've seen some comments regarding the live or off hand not being used to counterpunch during the disarm ... keep in mind that counterstrikes, reversals, etc. are usually introduced after one gets the basic techniques down. Without a solid understanding of the fundamentals it is a waste of time to progress into more of a force on force application.

  • he almost gets stabbed in the foot at 0:11 ;)

  • where can i find silat sufian bela diri in malaysia i like the techniques ?

  • I don't like the fact that he puts so many techniques into such a short video. I'd much rather see 2 or 3 techniques done slower in a slightly longer video so you can see each one done step by step.

  • 0:56 is how i disarm if i have to

  • I'm a big fan of yours and have learned so much from your videos. Going back now and re-watching the older ones, like this one. But your technique seems sloppy in this video, almost like you don't care. A very strange contrast to your newer material, in which your movements are crisp, and your attitude is positive and engaging.

  • by the way this is in slow mo guys

  • UMmmmmmm the person wielding the knife does have another hand, why doesnt he use it????

  • hmm a black guys worst nightmare

  • There...now if I could just get these damn handcuffs

  • altough realistic answers to a single thrust, these techniques wouldn't help you agains the majority of knife attacks. Most of the times the attacker stabs or slashes repeadatly. in tests we have found 4 stabs per second to be quite realistic. I have yet to come up with a decent disarm to these common attacks. Blocking and protection are achivable, but disarms are extremely dificult.

  • Lmao the dude drops the knife by mistake like 5 times.

  • Hidup Melayu! Semoga Islam berjaya bertapak di merata dunia kerana ajaran budaya Melayu!

  • Where do people come up with these moves?

  • cool! someone actually tried to kill me with a knife earlier this evening. i disarmed but chose to injure my hand in the process... i wish i did those stuf or have more training. it happened so fast. i took the knife tried to stab the perp. he ran so fast, police got him before i did...now i have difficult time typing, injured hand

  • @Navlek79 The important thing is you're alive and the guy got caught.

  • çok güzel

  • I like the intent to stop the attacker, rather than simply disarm simply. Thanks :)

  • last one was boss

  • 0:10 and 0:50

    so hilarious for some reason

  • try a lunatic mad rapid stabber coming at you....see how you get on....this shit will get you killed.

  • @madmanbehindye Then show us something that wont.

  • @WarnerAmaments a good mixture of kapap, krav and reality based protection with a healthy dose of rage at the assailant....mate the drills look good thats it, try pressure testing at night outside in the snow or rain with an attack with purpose and improvised, the defender "knows" how the other guy is going to attack him, the other guy is not resisting his "victim" keep it hard and keep it real bad guys dont attack like this.....your thoughts please.

  • @madmanbehindye great points, i have no dog in this fight, but i also find real time videos hard to follow and learn from. in my opinion a real knife fight means i get cut alot and hopefully dont die, but to learn some defensive moves, i need to be able to understand them in order to learn them. so i am glad for videos that pace things at this speed. i log them under technique vids, not training vids. add in some full speed footage later and i get the full picture. just a students viewpoint..

  • Comment removed

  • the guy isnt resisting , kinda unreal

  • 0:10 = ultimate rapage

  • fuckin love the end.

  • of course they make the black guy the attacker.

  • the knife attacks are so unrealistic, the firearm disarms look legit

  • @bangmeister The knife movements are modest otherwise the counter would have to be as fast and as violent. There is an aspect of them training together, but you have to ask yourself if the instructor knows what's he's doing or not.

  • 0:11 pwn

  • like you can tell that the guy attacking him was just getting annoyed after a while

  • Awesome. I want to learn this particular style as it can develop into an approach where you shove your opponent to the ground with both hands, knocking him out against the ground. This style alone can help you subdue a larger attacker, combining it with any other style will round out your fighting arsenal indefinitely.

  • @ZenKuei If you want to learn style, he has a seminar in NYC Feb 19-20, 2011. Message me in Youtube for particulars.

  • That is the most sofisticated defence I've ever seen... it has nothing to do with strength and speed... it is the smoothnes and the precision of the technique which make it so effective! Good work... I am impressed! Planning opening a school or to have a workshop in Brisbane?

  • very similar to filipino kali

  • i want to learn silat so bad

  • @GHOST1SRR The guys to really watch out for are the ones who hit the bag, and it doesn't swing at all, it just bends in the middle and folds around their fist! ;oD

  • that was shit. i'd like to see that big fella actually striking at full speed and see how this dick does against him. hes arrogant doesnt even put a guard up because he thinks hes the best. your a shit mother fucker.

  • @Flipstar117 its a demonstrations, used for entertainment. Not to instruct nor prove any sort of superiority. Full speed the Phillipino would've done it just as fast as the black man due to muscle memory. Calm down.

  • @GHOST1SRR well the simple solution there is to not let him hit you...

  • good techniqe

  • ahahaaa the short guy is making this guy his bitch

  • If I were asian I would never counter attack a big black man.

  • @Handelsbanken1 You would if after executing an unsuccessful attack he just stands there and lets you beat him up.

  • some people said to me that it will not work in real life...of course,in reality, evrything can happen,at least by learning these moves,it will help us in real life situation. i prefer having at least 1% survival than 0%.

  • @MrKawa24 if it were real life then they wouldn't be doing a demonstration in a dojo wearing protection

  • no crack for you today my friend

  • its not like ur going to calm down really fast so u can act fast.

  • i love 0:13 :p just slaps him lol

  • Pretty, yes. Realistic? Sorry, no. You're getting stabbed.

  • @FomaYas I would like to see you stabbing him. say good bye to your parents first. saying that about hundret years old system - bold words.

    peace :)

  • @thepafnucy Exactly, this is hundreds of years old and was used to fight for real in Indonesia in grassy plains and swamps against similarly trained opponents with now archaic weapons. Not on concrete with five guys who want to stamp on your head. Train for real and REALLY train.

  • @FomaYas well yeah concrete is different than grass, but if you can't adapt to that then that's your problem.

you might as well bitch about the violin being an archaic instrument because you don't know how to play it the way you'd like.

  • @FomaYas Only if you're a 19 year old desk jocky thinking he's spiderman or something. This shit is proven, it works. I've encountered around 3 guys with knifes going out, and 2 of the 3 times this was proper routine, got 'm down long enough for my friend to call the cops.

  • @ImAliveYeah I'm not disrespecting the guy. Quite the opposite, I hold him in very high esteem. He is excellent at what he does. I simply believe that it would be irresponsible to say that this kind of technique would work in reality. Especially since more often or not, while you're attempting to disarm one, his mate will be plunging a knife in your back or bricking you over the head.

  • @ImAliveYeah

    its spelled disc jockey.

  • @xDenako I'm afraid not, I clearly meant DESK jockey, someone who works 9 to 5, doing paperwork in an office. I wouldn't dare bag on people that DJ for a living (hell, even as a hobby) Desk-clerk would've been better suited, I know, but what could you expect from a movie-fanatic eurofag, right?

  • i love silat. i"m taking silat from master lovas in auburn ca. love the way of the knife disarms

  • The best way to defend yourself from a knife is to ALWAYS wear steel gauntlets. They're fashionable too. Oh and a mithril vest always comes in handy.

  • incredible tecnique but the black guy could kill him several times

  • lol this looks badass but hes not even trying lol

  • I lost count how many times Master Chief could stab the defending guy in the face, even considering it in normal speed.

  • And if I didn't have anywhere to run, I'd accept that I'd most likely get slashed in the hand or the forearm, and try a simple technique such a redirecting the knife with a twist, holding onto the knife hand whilst with the other go for a punch to the neck or nose if the neck wasn't open, and maybe a kick (well more like an angled stomp) to the kneecap or knee their stomach. Hopefully they'd then be damaged enough for me to leave. Trying the wrestle the knife out of their hands leaves you open.

  • @Zzulu1one9niner I think its is just a demo, mate. I don't see either person in the video going to full speed. In any case, there are some legitimate knife defense experts out there. try reading them and matching them up with what this guy is demoing. I don't think he is to far off base.

  • These techniques don't seem very plausible to me... what with the knife simply "flying" out of his hand with just a simple tap. Also, the attacker always seems to be a distance away, and always pulls the knife back before he comes in. So in other words, you just have to hope the person with the knife is a complete idiot, or drunk. Which is actually pretty likely. But I'd rather run if I had the opportunity or the space, just in case your messing with someone who knows their way around a knife.

  • @Zzulu1one9niner Well in a real situation you'd be hitting your attacker a lot harder, of course, but I see your point. Especially with the complete idiot or drunk part

  • @Zzulu1one9niner in my opinion it is better to learn than to not learn. I do have the belief that if someone pulls a knife on you, its better to negotiate or just give them what they want rather than go all aggro.

  • @Zzulu1one9niner

yeah im assuming he drops the knife because his wrist gets twisted/hit in such a fashion that it hurts lots so it causes him to drop it

or the one at :19 where the guy pushes him to the ground behind his back and if that's ever been done to you, it hurts.

  • why does the guy that has the knife gotta be black iv seen all these self defense vids and the bad guy is always black lmao

  • Very good one @ 0:50-0:53 :)

  • useless i will die on this!!!!!!!!!!111

  • Why is the guy actually doing the stabbing wearing protective gear? xD

  • I don't think the average person will be putting themselves off balance so much. Really good stuff though.

  • the guy doing the moves seems to be bored

  • why a black guy with the knife

  • @MARTHTHEBEAST oh please stfu u fucking moron.

  • @MARTHTHEBEAST Does it really matter? The video wasn't made to be racist...I didn't even notice it was a black guy until I read your comment...

  • gosh, there's alot of knocking on these silat vids. seriously, if you think silat ain't what it actually is, go check it out. attend and really experience it. you won't know what hit you.

i train in muay thai and pancrase, the little bit of silat that i already know makes what i've already learned even more effective...damn everyone.

  • Because when you are in a fight it means both you and the opponent are aware that it is a fight, and niether one wants to quit so in reality it doesnt matter wether the one guy is armed and the other unarmed it is extremely difficult to try and defened against an attacker period. But its much better to know martial arts and train rather then not know jack shit and get your guts spilled all over the ground. At least with MA you have a foundation and know what your doing.

  • People always say knife defense this and knife defense that, thing is any kind of self defense is difficult.

  • @Spykachu78

    that's why you practice.

  • Maybe I would just make a bad movie-henchmen but Me and my friends practice ful contact knife vs unarmed sparring and it is VERY hard to make me let go of the knife. If you punch me in the hand, or the face or the balls I will not stop trying to stab you. As far as our testing shows the only thing you can do is try to pin the knife hand to the ground and pry it out with 2 hands. But thats VERY hard

  • @ataraxic89 Dude, when you're holding a knife in one hand, you're supposed to do stuff like kick and block and grab and punch and only use the knife when it's dramatically appropriate. Haven't you seen the knife fight in Dune? : >

  • knife defending is very very difficult. It take years to do it like these guy ... But I have to admit this was a fake scene. nobody know what happend in a real fight ...

  • I think this master would look great ....against a cocky street fighter with large marker or rubber knife with paint on it . For vissible reference And we could see how he ajust to eradic behavior

  • first one made me ROFLMFAO!!! he slaps the black guys hand afterwards

  • i like cheng hsin said - the value of form is obtained by understanding he correct relationship to and purpose of form . we must see the nature of limits (form) first . form arises from formlessness ; the first requirement for creating a limit is that there is none.

  • i want to learn how to do it not just watch jet li over here

  • i have only one bad comment in your video, show it in slow motion and zoom it so your viewers will say it is really effective

  • then funny thing is 66% of stab victims have been stabbed in the ass didnt train for tht lol

  • lol

  • The flaw! The knife is more or less coming from the same point! If some1 attacks u with a knife there going to be all over the place, much faster!!! So u wont have much time to do all that fancy shit!!

  • @M21Dexter lol no it is useful too.. knife cant kill u in just one to three stabs so you can do it in next attack... and you can even dodge and do this

  • @M21Dexter Some one with a knife is going to try to stab you. That is what this training is for. If the attack is fast or slow you must have an efficient motion which means if you do a good motion you will not be stabbed. Remember you can vary the speed in your motions.

  • lol whoever trys to knife this guy is gonna get rocked.

  • these light little taps are not going to really shake a big 6 ft 5 guy . the teqs are soild dont get me wrong but i would recomend loseing the over confidence brought on by aways useing a compiant partner . these are called "dead drills "this is how u learn it. ....as opposed to live drills where your partner is trying to counter your counter.

  • I like how everything flows into the cross-facing motion.

  • I really like how simplistic yet effective these moves are. They are useful because they are something you can actually practice enough and remember easily and be able to use if a real life situation comes up.

  • if i could do that i would take the knife and stick it in the basterd

  • in every real danger situation, you control your mind by calm down to execute properly.1 2 3 moves and you had it done no fancy treaks just real thing..

  • This looks pretty cool, but the guy in the mask is way to compliant. Why does he drop the knife at 0:14, seriously? And at 0:12 the knife goes right by his throat! Why would you purposefully put an attackers knife next to your own throat?!

  • word up. how bout some full speeed and strength action. like...ur fighting for your life or.. trying to kill some one

  • *sigh*

I can tell you he had no control over dropping the weapon...

  • @o0Odin0o o0Odin0o, I am sure Maul 'gently' persuaded him to 'drop' the knife! :-)

  • LMAO! Good one haha

  • 0:08 suxs lol

  • dsklfj

  • in martial arts ur taught self control and that is way he is relaxed, in a real knife fight his instincts will be highened but he probably would still hold his cool, actually i garentee that he will hold his cool

  • these techniques look....funny. The idea of knocking the knife out of his hand with a blow is interesting. But everything the instructor does he does with such lazy body posture. You would think you'd be more enthusiastic to defend your life.

  • @kidvaletudo

you notice what most people fail to notice.

he is perposely controlling his movements and stress

knife defence can tire a person out faster then anything

and a person can not afford to be tired when faced with a knife attacker or be stressed out or not control their breathing

with knife defence you can't afford to be stressed or over emotional but in fact be very cool and relaxed and calm as you can

  • Interesting ideas but i'd like to see him stop a guy going full speed with one arm... My money would be on the knife guy. Personally I would slice at him, slashing is harder to defened and even though stabing may kill faster slashing will obviously cause bleeding... So i would slash the shit out of the opponent and let them bleed out. Lol

  • Interesting view point why not find a class he's teaching next year and give it ago! :) see what happens. I've been in his class and seen him wear just glasses and have people come at him with machetes and knives full force and intent. Lets say he's still touring! :D Check out his other videos and the subject matter of Silat to learn more! :)

  • the gUY WITH THE KNIFE SHOULD BE TRUSTIG FASTER. ID LIKE TO SEE IT IN FULL SPEED.

  • he always stabs. a good fighter would slash, because it's more effective...

  • if it was a sword then maybe. a knife slash will shallow cuts because of its short range unless in vital places like the neck or tendons. to do effective damage one can stab and twist or repeatedly stab the mid body

  • no, with a knife, slashing is still preferred. You're right, the cuts wont be deep enough to instantly disable in one or even a few strikes, but an intelligent knife attacker would slash first to break down the opponent to set up a kill blow. Or even just slash until the victim succumbs to blood loss. Going for a stab or kill blow first makes it easier to be countered.

  • Ya, just watch how steven seagal does it

  • He covers slash's and plenty of other ways there's more to knives than slashes and stabs. Find a class come along check it out for real! :) see if that changes your mind or if your of the same opinion then! :)

  • There`s more to knives the slashing and stabbing..... please could you explain ?

  • this makes no sense! he beats him with the knife.. who would do that?!.. we're trying fighting with a knife too.. but this doesn't make any sense

  • hmm... what can I say? No pain. No gain.

    The ultimate knife man!

  • LOL cant strop laughing my ass off

  • BEAST!!!

  • that was fucken beautiful! will you adopt me hehehehe

  • A lot of shit talking on here. This guy is not showing his true bread and butter. This is just a small quick example meant to grab your attention. U should really meet this guy and really see the art he teaches. Non of you super heroes would stand a chance. TRUTH.

  • wow...

    i like this...

silat ni ada d malaysia ka?..

especially dkat area kuching or miri...

    aku nak blajar la?..

  • This stuff doesn't work in real life in unpredictable situations where the opponent is actually TRYING to slice you, not letting you disarm him like in this video.

  • great point.. this video is a great example of b.s that will get people killed..in real life people fight back and react, they just dont stand there...

  • it's just a demo my friend, certain techniques take years to perfect and maybe even more to apply it in real time, this is one of them.

  • 0:33-0:38 is hilarious. I just can't stop laughing at it.

  • this guy sust have trained batman

  • all these prsentations with guys, ok man hit me there and there are shit, in reality youcan aim at throat but change the direction to mislead the opponent and thrust it in a crazy curve slashing the fucker up

  • Absolute horseshit!

  • Absolute jelousy!

  • why do you think it is horseshit? it seems to work, no?

  • NOT ACROSS THE BODY!!! you can cut your self.

  • this is bullshit. people actually belive it. all yall going to die for trying this. u cant block a punch, how u going to block a knife? i know, get your hand cut off thats how

  • you are saying this because you watched this video so many times but cant get it to work when you train with your friends. Just because your lame ass cant do it doesnt mean everyone else cant.

  • In response to BroodCast. You are correct. I have people tell me these kind knife disarms don't work. They told me the same thing when I was studying Aiki-jitsu. And yes, I can take the knife from someone or I can give it right back to them. And I'm not saying I'm a great fighter because I know a lot of other martial artist who can do it too. I like the techniques in this clip.

  • i was cracking up for a half hour when i saw that comment that said looks like master chief getting his ass kicked

  • looks like master chief getting his ass kicked

  • LOL- 0:36 slap

  • haha by the end of the video the guy with the helmet is like "i dont wanna do this no more man"

  • 0:59

    mancaaaada xDD

tomara q o fera use protetor genital tb...

  • Best defenses against a knife:

    1) run

    2) hide

    3) find a weapon yourself

  • You mean the best defence for a coward. If you think running is the best defence, go watch a marathon clip or sumthing :)

  • yea thats it, lol

  • i think the key to his techniques is speed. if u understand the mechanics and perform it fast enough. i highly doubt the attacker will have a chance to react to the grab. especially since this demonstration is performed at a slower speed for educational purpose it may seem like the effectiveness is decreased. however in reality silat is probably really effective

  • gay as fuck. u will get kill. never ever seen people grabing a punch. and people never punch and leave there hand hanging

  • they do if you grab it

  • Rex-Quon-Do at it's finest...

  • hahaha lol

  • 1:38 is the best, just beat the shit out of his head lol.

  • what i need is for them to post this in slo-mo so i can better see what they're doing even if he makes it look so easy

  • great effective technique! thanks for posting! 5 stars!

  • 0:56 is just obvious for us males..

  • Dude... I feel sorry for the crash test dummy as well! Man! I mean... the instructor looks like he's holding back just a little. But still. My favorite is at 0.44 when the assailant falls to the ground in a way that reminds me of old WWF Saturday afternoon epidodes! I'm sure it's painful but somehow the way he falls just looks... hilarious.

If they could overdub some guy in the background saying 'Cut!' after every techinque I think they'd have a fairly decent sketch comedy :-D

  • 0:13ahahaha

one for at home with the mrs

  • You disarm your knife-wielding wife? Cor blimey i'd like to see your family.
