Are you able to use the stock ECU and wiring harness or must all that be replaced? You mate this to your stock drive train or did you also pull that from a E320 W210 Im guessing ??
@dlh788 Stock ECU is able to run the motor, wireing harness is the same (but obviously if you are going through the trouble, you should swap it for a new one since the sheathing on these harnesses break down over time) and the trans was a 300E 5 speed. Differential is a 190e 16v LSD.
@blind26 Where did you pick up a 3.2L Mercedes engine for $900? Thats rather cheap for that engine! I wouldnt mind swapping mine out for the newer 3.2L V6.
i have a 1995 mercedes benz with i bought for 500 bucks with 100k miles all that was wrong with it was two bumoers were missing and for those who think this car is slow you guys are wrong ..i raced so many 3 and 5 serous bmw's out there and never lost a race .my last race was against a daytona truck i lost bye a bumper length and my top speed was faster at 143mph .NOTE: its all stock i think lol
you won't gain any acceleration. guaranteed. i have a 94 e320 with the 3.2 inline 6 with full exhaust...no resonators or cats, and barely gained anything. mercedes pretty much made them the way they were supposed to be.
its not cus it doesnt have an air filter, he has open headers, thats why its soo loud. It sounds sweet though. But i only have a high flow filter on mine and its a 2.8L, still fucking fast when the mornings are cold lol
hmmm i just got my C280 (95) yesterday, its soo nice. my bro has a 1993 300E with a 3.2 i wonder what would he says if he wakes up one day with his engine missing? hahah
hey man can u post more videos of ur car with the swapped engine?
That's beautiful, 230 hp and torque gallore. what engine accessories did u have to swap? would manual tranny from 190 2.3-16 fit? what's your 1/4? and finally, was that C280 sport?
The accessories were swapped over from the c280 so we could use the same engine harness. The manual trans that we run on both our manual swaped Benzes is the 300e manual trans. As far as track times, we have not brought this one to the track yet. With a slipping clutch and fighting for tracktion (yes, even with 245 profile tires and a 3.27 lsd) we can do 0-60 in 7 seconds, which isnt at all impressive.
Much of the issue was being caused by the CARB computer that we left on the car (even though the EGR system was deleted). After removing the computer, no more CEL codes were being thrown, and it seems to have more fluid power delivery. We should be tracking this car very soon. As for a sport, we believe that it was at one time (was a salvage vehichle).
In a C280, all we had to do is swap the motor and swap some accessories between the two motors. As for that, the stock computer can control the motor w/o a reflash.

How much did it cost you to swap it?
wildbloodydragon 2 years ago
The manual tranny was already in the car from a prior conversion, so just the motor alone cost $900 IIRC

Thanks for the info, I just recently melted a piston on my 2.3-16. So I wonder what's my best option.

yeah ... sounds like a tractor :D

Open header and a vacuum leak will tend to do that ;-)
blind26 5 years ago
yeah =) didn't say it sounded bad ... overtake someone with that soundtrack and he will never dare to do the same to you ;)
what else did you have to change? - except the engine of course

blind26 5 years ago
oh wow, didn't know that. does it have an automatic or a manual gearbox? didn't that have to be re-adjusted for the extra "grunt" ?
AmvC 5 years ago
Surprisingly no... This particular C280 was also swapped with a 300E manual transmission.. (Not many, if any other C280 manuals in the US)
blind26 5 years ago
oh great :D ... i thought of swapping a 230K into my c200, but that means i have to change almost everything that's connected to the engine as well.
Good job then =)
