Well my idea on this game is well she couldnt tell weather she was living in realitly or the dream world anymore....i can imange how scarey it must be for that sort of insainty. so the only way she could find out was by jumping off her balcony.

and not only that but all of her dreams where based off of all of her horrid experinces. and in realitly and in her sleep she couldnt find a place to hide so the only way out was by killing yourself . i feel so bad for madotsuki. i hope some one agrees.

I do believe the whole thing was dream, and Madotsuki woke up after she "died" in the dream world. After she jumped off the balcony, those creatures from her dreams came around the bloodstain.

Also counting in the fact that she never opened her eyes during the whole game.

I believe she killed herself for many reasons. She faced a life of boredom, extreme depression, and isolation. The only thing to do was to sleep and explore her subconscious, litterally becoming lost in her imagination, which memories of her dark past have bled into. She's realized that her life revolves around living in these sick, twisted memories, and the real world holds no hope for her. And that she's completely, utterly alone.

[Yeslm10] I agree. Like when shes on the stairs, with KyuuKyuu-Kun, she curled into a ball, theres a rumor that Madotsuki was raped between the fans. Or even Monoko, must be the girl who Madotsuki's parents hit at a stoplight, killing her pregnant mother and her father, making her a survivor of guilt. Or that Monoko represents how Madotsuki feels about her looks horribly, ugly girl. Theres different ways to see that.

I, personally think Madotsuki killed herself because she didn't want to live in the real world OR the dream world. She first went to the dream world to escape reality, but it became too much for her, and She neither wanted reality or the dreams because both were painful to her. Finally, she ended it all, being in a happier place, without reality or dreams to disturb her mentally.

It's not a sequel, it's a fan-made spinoff of the original. The protagonist is Urotsuki, a different person and while it still involves exploring dreamworlds and collecting effects, the story of "Yume 2kki" ('cause 2 in Japanese is "ni," GET IT?) has nothing to do with the original.

I'm betting Yume Nikki was created from Kikiyama's own dream diary, and the characters and events can have as much or as little meaning as you give them. Objectives are very loose and there's no plot; it's a dream, right?

I'm not sure I would want to see an official sequel, much less one that tries to "explain" the previous. So many things in YN are open to interpretation. That's part of its appeal.

That's just it: the ending, what it meant, and whether or not it even really happened is totally open. Ask people what they thought and you'd get a varied response, based on their view of the game and their beliefs about death.

Xxmanofaction12, for instance, said Mado did it to escape her nightmares. To me, the dreamscapes were more fascinating than frightening, and I think she did it to "live" forever among her new, and only, friends. With no exposition or dialogue, we add the story.

I know yume 2kki is being made as a fan-game, but I hope they keep the whole, 'sometimes creepy, but cute and fasinating in it's own way' thing, and don't use any dialouge, since that makes the game feel more personal, you can interpret some of the goings on in your own way, as if you make up some of the story for yourself.

She confronted her fears, and 'suicided' her dream self, so she could live in the normal world.

I think she was in the real world at the end of the game, i think she woke herself up...

The makers of the game siad that the character had a psychological disorder. She was probably agoraphobic, and that's why she never left her apartment in the real world, whenever you trry to leave she just shakes her head. She only left it in her dreams.

Although, there is the possiblity it was just another dream, and another cycle begins/she was in a come the whole time and finally gave up in the end.

There really is no "real" throughout the game, so the only reality is the dreams that she faces. Although it is likely she is hikkimori at any rate.
