  • I LOVED this show. It was like sitting in on a jam session with some of the very best popular musicians (musicians, mind you, not pop celebrities) meeting up for an eclectic evening with great sidemen, jazzers and assorted oddballs.

There's been nothing like Night Music since. Not everything worked, but it was always interesting and sometimes brilliant. My fave NM clips are the nights NRBQ was on. World's greatest/most eclectic bar band at their blazing best.

  • What an incredible mix of astounding musicians.

  • Thielemanns und Haden - big show. awesome musicians. was this record on any CD too, or only video?

  • Garsh, I miss this show . . .some of the most outrageous stuff came together when Sanborn totally mixed it up with artist from different schools . . .awesome . . where else would you mix Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kronos Quartet . . .

  • Very nice version of this old chestnut. The arrangement is great, but Nick Cave seems half asleep. Rough times for him, I guess.

  • Charley Haden!!!! Nice

  • What if Hendrix was still alive, or Rose and Jimi as backing vocals... gee, great moment anyway.

  • I really love this haunting version of 'Hey Joe'!

  • Thanks for posting this. Goes to show quality musicians can play with other musos from other genres and it works, by golly.

And I'm not a Dave Sanborn fan at all.

  • awesome

  • This was one of my top favorite programs. I miss this show terribly, they should kill of that still dying crpse of a show Saturday Night Live, and bring something like this back on. Good music all around. I can't think of a lousy performance obn this show, and you sure as hell wouldn't have had to endure Britney or Fergie or any of those other lesser pap stars

  • jimi hendrix ftw

  • As performances of "Hey Joe" go, this is only pretty good - I say that as the owner of 90+ "Hey Joe" recordings.

But the lineup of performers - Cave/Thieleman/Sanborn - makes it cooler.

From Sanborn's short-lived "Night Music" program. One of the top 5 best programs to air in all my [too many] years on this planet.

  • Big oversight...Charlie Haden too.

  • JaaredSax, search on this site for 'nightmusic' and you will find two other videos with Sanborn + sopranino. One video with toots (a nice duet) and one with blondine/blondie or somethin.

Indeed thnx for the video. I find it funny to to watch him with sopranino, thats a lot different when you hear his music on sopranino like 'Ain't no sunshine' with Sting, Clapton, Kamen.

  • A gem, and very much appreciated.

  • One of the only times that you'll see David Sanborn playing a Sopranino Saxophone. This is VERY rare!!! Thanks for the video!
