I've been playing games where I had to shoot FICTIONAL people for over 15 years now and that's never changed my moral compass. I'm sure I'm not the exception.

At least this is from my personal experience. There are probably people who would become severly influenced by the games, but I think they're a tiny percentage and would've been influenced by whatever else surrounds them anyway.

In this case, you're in the middle of a bloody invasion. You're not just walking up to a nice old grannie and popping her in the head, you are defending your country. Even in games like GTA, it's never "ok" to just kill someone, there are always consequences that makes random killing impossible to get away with.

It was certainly not a new concept invented by the evil game developers. All I believe is that if the violence was within a context, then it would not turn the player into mindless killers because it doesn't force them to make violent choices in an everyday situation.

@caiopagy One problem with that, North Korean soldiers are as underfed as the rest of their country, and poorly equipped to boot. The Japanese SDF could take them on almost single-handed. If they managed to conquer S. Korea (lol) they would be so busy with pacification they would bleed their army dry. Even with a 2nd Great Depression, the Japanese would be too strong for the DPRK too even think about taking on. They should have used China instead.
