@Jaaaaaaake96 Your models can't be worse than mine... ;) :) I have FAILED totally with my last couple of attempts... so I'm having a bit of a break from the hobby.. :)
Very nice result.. :) The paint jobs are superb.. :) You've inspired me to stop getting on with my model railway and go back to modelling! I've just been creating a new 2002And website... have a look if you have time - but it's still under construction.
@MilitaryAircraft101 Thank you.. He's back in the local hospital for now.. hopefully he'll ba home late tonight or sometime tomorrow... Last minute complications as always... :P
@MrRandomWritings Yes, I thought they would be a bit of a contrast to each other.. :) And yes, the Germans did capture a few Hurricanes and tried them, but weren't overly impressed by them.. :) The Hurri that you may think is German here though is actually a Finnish aircraft, sold by the British to the Finns together with a few more, to help them battle the Russians.. This was before Germany attacked Russia, and the Russians became allied with the British.. and the Finns with the Germans.. :)
@joluqa Yes, I have quite a few sets of decals for Luqa-based aircraft.. including a Mosquito, which I had planned to build this year,, but now it'll probably be next year instead.. :)
Amazing modelling. My dad makes figures like soldiers or civilians and I take care of the vehicles like tanks, planes, and all kinds of vehicles. And I hope your son gets better.Greetings from Argentina
Thought I was seeing double. And the music reminded me of the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett! Great builds and it's always nice for something Finnish to pop up!
@888HamilkarBarkas888 Thank you... :) As for my son, well.. so far, so good.. we're home now, waiting to see if he will need to go to the local hospital in a couple of days or not! The next big thing will be his scan in the middle of the month, which will tell us if the chemotherapy is working or not.. Fingers crossed it will be a good result!!
@888HamilkarBarkas888 Yes, but we will pull through it again, just like we did the first time.. Luckily my hobby does take my mind of other things for a little while, now and again.. :) It will be a while before my son posts any new videos though, even if he is (very slowly) working on a Dassault Rafale in Tiger Meet livery.. He's too tired to do much right now, which is understandable..
can i ask what humbrol colour and number you used for the malta hurricane because i have a friend that flew hurricanes from that airfield and i would like to build one for him could you get back to me asap
@GreatModelling The decal sheet painting instructions identifies the paint as 'Bosun Blue', but I found that the Humbrol enamel No. 77 'Navy Blue' is quite close, if not an exact match.. so that's what I used.. The rudder was Humbrol 29 Dark Earth and Humbrol 116 US Dark Green! There's a similar Hurricane with a different number, that was tropicalised, but had the same type of pattern.. Hope this has helped you.. :)
@militarymoddeling Thanks... and yes, the Finnish one in particular stands out a bit... The British gave (or sold) Hurricanes to the Finns, to help them battle the Russians... they then gave Hurricanes to the Russians, to help them battle the Germans... and the Finns.. but as far as I know there's no record of any Hurricane versus Hurricane dog fights during the Winter- and Continuation wars.. It would have made an interesting modelling set up, otherwise.. :)
Basicmodelling, I really enjoyed watching this one because it was on my mind to go and buy Revells 1:72 Hurricane. Since you have built that one, what is your opinion of the two? Which one did you like more Revell or Airfix? Also, nice work on bringing an obsecure model to light with the Finish Air Force Hurricane. Nicely done!
@Colfax11000 I have built quite a few of the Revell Mk.IIb and IIc Hurricanes, but never a Mk.I.. :0) Not sure what Mk the Hurricane is that you're thinking of buying, but the Revell kits that I have done so far have much more detail to them, both in the cockpit and in the landing gear / wheel wells.. :) The Revell Hurricanes in 1/72 are amongst my favourite kits to build, second only to the Revell 1/72 P-47 D Thunderbolt... :)
Nicely done! I have a 1/72 Hurricane question: My Hobby Boss Hurricane is as big as my Academy Typhoon- was the Hurricane really that big? I'll assume Academy's kit is made to scale; do you suppose that Huihuang Electrical Appliances Co.'s prowess in this regard may be less than dragon-like? I don't mean to nag with this nit, but you know when I ask passersby about this, they look at me funny...
OK, don't know what the hell's up with this site, but once again, my first comment didn't take. Oh well, here I go again...! Fantastic! These two are gorgeous and even though I got first dibs on FB, as I always say, to see them come together is a big part of the finished picture. Hard to say which one I prefer now as they are both a delight to the eyes! Ah, hell, I'll go for the RAF one this time!
I'm going to make a start on that resin Ship's Catapult.... maybe.... (trembling at the thought..)
@MakingModelsAgain I know that feeling. I was looking at a F-22 Raptor kit earlier this evening (Academy 1/72) that somebody in the US sent me as a gift , but put it back, as it seems a bit daunting. I have decided to wait with the P-51 and the Viggen for now and am looking for something in my stash that I HAVEN'T actually built before already.. Torn between a 'Zero' kit (which I can't find*) or an Academy Fw 190.. but it may well be something completely different! Still working on the dio too!
@MakingModelsAgain I had a feeling you would say that.. :) And I DO know where the kit is... just not sure if I can get it out from the storage box under the bed.... :)
Can't really think of any other excuse at the moment... :P
@coladito1 Thank you... I tend to weather most of my armour models, like tanks and other military vehicles, but not so often when it comes to my planes.. but I did weather my 1/48 Tamiya P-51 D Mustang and have also weathered a couple of my 1/72 Revell P-47 D Thunderbolts.. so far!
Ah I remember this kit, its was the second Airfix kit I ever built... Till my sister dropped her shoe on it :/ yah I need to get a new one! great review :)
I always enjoy your straight from the box build. It inspire me to give aircraft modelling another try. I like the way you bring back old kits to life, proving those kits are still good for a quick build. Keep it up!!!
A quick question to anyone that can answer: For people using a regular brush when painting the models, how do you dillute the Humbrol paint? Do you dillute the whole box of paint or just some droplets in some small bowl?
I was painting some matt black today and quickly become annoyed as I realized the paint was too thick . I also concluded it is time to consider buying a magnifying glass with a light on.
Hrm, looking forward to using an airbrush with acrylics later on.
@InstantUsername The way i do it is..take your brush dip it into the paint so your brush is heavily loaded and remove brush and transfer to a mixing plate, repeating as many times as you need to fill your requirements..then dip the brush in clean spirit and do the same..and mix until the paint feels right..Does this helps a bit ?
One look at the instructions would have put me off. Why do they make them so small.? Mind you, I guess there arenot so many people as blind as an old git like me ☺☺
im kinda new to modeling and it depresses me how good you are but good build!

That Finnish AF plane is quite nice and of course, during the war years, they did not enjoy posh air fields..
