  • Andrew! I'm so psyched to have found your videos! I took lessons as a kid for FOUR YEARS and was horrifically bad, at best. I was never taught intervalic reading and struggled along reading note to note and wondering why I could never "get it." I feel like the musical part of my brain will finally get unlocked! Thank you! :) Keep up the great work!

groups of notes from C to B do you start on?

  • thank you thank you thank you!

  • Holy shit man thank you, I just started to learn the piano and have been wanting to for a really long time, and the one thing I could not figure out was how to actually move my fingers across the keys, not just the posture to hold them in. Glad I found this.

  • @ImDiddyKongFTW same man! barelery learnin' this too! dude! piano is friggin awesome!

  • @Dayize14 lol ikr the first lesson was like so easy and then this made it x3 hard buts i guess thats just the way it is i guess it would be easier if you would take notes or had a piano right infront of you by the computer

  • this guy is amazing brolol

  • You have the cutest giggle :)

  • Comment removed

  • I like his little giggle every now and then ^_^

  • i really appreciate your lessons. i have my notes open, writting all the tips you say, thanks so much. I want to be able to play the piano like freestyle one day like be able to make my own song. i mean the concept of half tone and whole tone is pretty basic to understand but i thought another way you can word explaining whole tone. you can say. a whole tone is going from one white key to the next white key as long as they have a black key between them ^_^

  • and thx again!

  • if anybody is gonna waste any time being lazy, they should waste it learning or watchin informative videos. Not always funny ones.

  • Hey there! A music teacher wanted me to sign up for his orchestra lesson and play piano since I type 97 words per minute. But the thing is, I really hate the people in the orchestra lol. So lately, I've been searching how to play the piano and asking my parents to buy me one for xmas and see if I could take private lessons! Thank you sooo much for the free lessons! I love them and hopefully when I grow up, I'll blow people away(:

  • Men ur really makin it possible im learning how to play the piano Im so glad !!!!!!!

  • Yo I've got this!! Episode 1 and 2 taught me more than any attempt I've had before at piano...my new-found dedication to this + your sick instructing skills = awesomeness I can feel it! :D

  • Heck yeah, at 8:00 you really were getting to excited. But man I love these lessons so much. You're the man, I never was interested in playing an instrument, but I'm getting old and I noticed that it's not cool if you don't know how to play at least one. So I'm down to learn, and you're definitely one of the best instructors out there :)

  • ur so cute ♥♥♥

  • YOU ARE GREAT TEACHER !!!!

  • I love your piano lessons! Thank you so much for having them available! They are thorough and easy to understand! I can't wait to take my next lesson! :D

  • Andrew you're fantastic! You make everything so easy to understand. I'm so glad that with your help I'll (hopefully) be able to play any piece I want to. Maybe even arrange something? I'm getting excited now...

  • Thanks again.

  • I LOVE IT WHEN A YOUNG PIANO STUDENT GETS INTO THEIR SECOND OR THIRD LESSON AND THEY TRY TO DO EVERYTHING SO FAST AND SO WELL, NOT EVEN NECESSARILY TO IMPRESS ANYONE, JUST TO BE REALLY GOOD!

  • You've got such a charming laugh and smile. :) That's probably one of the reasons I'm watching all of these videos. haha :)

  • It's easy now! I think I'm gonna ask my grandma to help me a bit she plays Beethoven, Bach and Mozart and she does great! And when I learned playing some classical pieces I'm going to try rock n roll because I love it.

  • Andrew, pls speak louder. I can't hear what you are saying and what you have to say is important.

  • I find you lessons to be very easy to learn! any advice on how long i should practice the techniques before moving onto the next video?

  • These lessons are very helpful. I am 24. I don't like music. I mean, I don't sing. I don't play any instrument. One day, i received a private message on Facebook asking about Greyson Chance. I don't know this kid. But, amazingly, he really inspired me. I just woke up one morning typing on Youtube's search bar ''piano lessons''. I am buying one today and I will watch all these videos here until I can find a piano master to teach me. I am willing to spend up to 3 years to learn how to play this.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make these. It helps a beginner like:)

  • haha you got me with that semi-tone trick question, well played internet teacher. must be something in-between; gotcha.

  • Thank You, very much Lypur for taking the time in making this piano lessons for people like me, who really wants to learn how to play piano, but cannot affor to pay the lessons, from the bottom of my heart Im grateful for people like you, this speaks a lot about you, it seems that you are a selfless and very pleasant person. MUCHAS GRACIAS!!.

  • @SeiBellamor HI there. Same here. I mean, i really find his videos very helpful. I just began my lessons today. I am buying a piano today. i don't play any instrument but Greyson Chance inspired me. A very amazing instrument. I should have learned playing this 'toy' 5 years ago. Thanks and stay happy.

  • all of ur lessons are helpful

  • how to play the piano, lesson 1: 6.5 million views

how to play the piano, lesson 2: 1.2 million views

persistence isn't really a forte in this day and age is it?

  • @Ikiakafights hahah seriously, i just barely have it to wear i can seperate my hands, so i can play something different with both, this stuff is hard!

  • great lesson, especially for a noob like myself. you should put advertisements on these

  • u rock dude ! thanks alot !

  • the voice toooooo small

  • His Tutorial are the best for me so far.You can replay even without making your teacher mad at you and pay even more

  • Thank you for these videos!!!

  • Your so corny that it helps me remember everything.

your like a cheesy commercial that comes on tv that gets stuck in your head

  • Thank you for the video!! This is really helpful!!! Thank you so much!!

  • Thank you for this!!! Now I need to practice everyday! :D

  • This is just to help me recap

So i learnt about octaves 1 note to the same note lower or higher on the piano i guess half and whole tones how to to play G scale aaaah what did i miss

  • @mockingbyrd97 I am taking notes:)!

  • Why is the 5th note of the scale the second strongest of the scale?

  • @sgmat66 i didnt watch all the video but the 5th note in a scale is a perfect interval the names kind of self explanatory

  • What a great video clip. I really appreciate your kind effort to teach for beginners like me. Thanks a lot.

  • I absolutely love the fact that you did all of this completely free. As well as the music theory. Wonderful job.

  • speak louder please.

  • this guy teaches good

  • Perfect ...... I like ur presentation .. thanks a lot i'm improving .. ;)

  • i like how you don't ask us to subscribe at the end of the video

  • hah i got an ad for a hairbrush XD also i hope im not the only one taking notes? =_="

  • @MockingByrd97 Nope you're not the only one! I've been taking notes since I started his first lesson. I have quite a few here *looks down at a mess of papers* hehe. :D

  • Best lesson ever....

  • I'm off to practice.. Thank you soo much.

  • Hahha! I keep shaking my keys back and forth hoping to make vibrato (I play guitar hahhaaha)

  • @thedeadserv Hahahaha!! dang it now i want to tryit! hahahaha

  • i love your video !!!! ^^

  • any1 else have this problem? there are a few tunes i'v been able to play for a while only half-educated with the piano/keyboard but i'm battling with my patience to keep learning the professional tricks and exercises before getting back to the urge of playing one of the songs i know to calm my nerves with the pressure i'm getting from some of this stuff, but want to get better

i'v wrote music & would like to record. i know how to read music and follow notes on my keybrd but i still feel amateur

  • @92soothsayer could be a simple matter of talent. (and by talent I mean neural pathways waiting to be developed :D)

Heard a great man say. It takes 3 years to become really good at something. Another 7 to master it. I've been self tutoring guitar for the past 10 years. Still feels like I'm light years away from the pros lol.

  • @92soothsayer amen....i want to play more difficult stuff so badly...

i played the clarinet for three years so I know how to read music, and i love these lessons for the piano, but it is so frustrating knowing this could take years to master! but hang in there. if you're able to write your own music, thats pretty advanced if i do say so myself

  • I love your hair :o

  • I had this book it was PIANO FOR DUMMIES now i will probably not look at that book exept for histories of the different types of pianos and harpsicord because i learned 50 times more in 1 of your lessons than i did in 3 chapters of that book it has some music in it and ill probably play out of that book but i dont learn much from it.

  • Thank u

  • wow!! ive been wanting to learn piano for SSSSSSOOOOOO long....and your making me understand it more! thnx alot!

  • ever imagine what would happen if a mad scientist plays a piano?

  • I agree with the sound ..needs to be louder..you start really quiet. The information though is super helpful!

  • i have short fat fingers :(

  • ♥ Your laugh is soooo cute xD

  • when u were about to show "mary had a little lamb" i paused the video and went "oh god" and i had to think about the fact that it will help me get more feel for a piano before i had enough moral to continue the vid :P

  • Thank you. You have given me another great and beautiful opportunity in my life. Another way to connect with my 4 young children. My oldest 7 year old doesnt want to step away from a used digital piano i purchased at amazing price from yamaha. Sincerely, Thank you, Matt.

  • awsome

  • Thanks for being so generous with your skill and talent. I played the piano years ago and I am now getting back into it but I refuse to pay for lessons at this stage because they are so expensive. So this is a good refresher for me. It is always nice when one gives so much of their time to the world to help others. Believe me you will be rewarded for it.

  • I can only second what the two said underneath my comment.

Thank you for taking the time out to put all these lessons on the web for everyone.

Lots of time and energy spend to help and teach.

    Very cool of you!

  • Thank you for doing this. Offering so much of your time and expertise purely to help people and not for financial is a really wonderful thing. The world should have more people like you!

    Thanks Andrew! x

  • Bless you. You're awesome. Thank you so much for doing this, you've really helped me absorb and learn at quite a fast pace. What a great teacher! Like your theory videos too! Good stuff xxx

  • Thumbs up if you navigated from his first video; How to play piano: The basics, Piano Lesson #1 ~

IF YOU HAVEN'T, YOU SHOULD :D

  • After playing the piano I have hard time typing on a keyboard.

  • stop laughing

  • Thx a lot dude, you're the best! - love your philosophy on music, very inspiring! :)

    - oh, and love your sense of homour, that stuff about the den with a miniature plasma tv on the d note cracked me up big time! hahaha :D

  • Man, this is so much better than an actual lesson, 1 FREE, 2 FREE, well yeah other than free, you can replay, instead of irritating the instructor by asking him/her to repeat. plus you can stop where you need. and go on your own pace. for...wait for it...FREE!

  • this is an exclusive video for those who want to dive into the pool of music especially learning how to play the piano.............its a good start for all those who have great interest in this...... its very helpful and self teaching.........I say 'BRAVO' to the brains behind this...... stay blessed hoping to get more from you......keep it up!!!!!!!
