  • You're so great men :) perfectly helpful!

  • Awesome! It's already 15mins that my screen doesn't flicker! So I think that is fixed. Thank you so much !

Hopefully it will work with 4 monitors as well!

  • just letting you know this isnt working anymore need a new fix ?

  • Should teach me to play with fire. I tried to tweak by reducing these settings to 0, can't believe it was the reason for that issue.

by the way, it seems only the "waiting time to kill non responding app" was causing this issue. I had to set it back to 5 seconds and the flickering stopped. I don't know which part of the reg file above points at that settings though.

Thanks a lot for this video.

  • @RokkumanEkkusu1 I'm no pro in this stuff, but I like to play with them, just make sure you have another windows installed on the pc (just in case something happens) and than you can play. Or run it in VirtualPC,VirtualBox, or VMware, that is more easy.

There are 3 entries of "WaitToKillAppTimeout" for different "users", but if you have only 1 administrator account on the pc, than is the same for all those 3 entries.

By reducing it to zero (0) Windows shuts down faster, it is ok on XP,Vista!

  • That was a great video. I often wonder how you people could find a fix like this. Fanstastic work and thanks for the video!

  • Thank you so much.... You've offered me a great service by posting this... Thank you for keeping me away from a nervous breakdown!!! :)

  • @WebReports :) ...the idea of "Waittokillapp" and "menushowdelay" registry tweaks was given by "Xylber". I played with those things in the past, so I made the registry file to add some normal values to those, and it works.

  • thank you very much :P i have definetly subscribed

  • Thanks~ my computer screen stops flickering!!! But it seems that my computer takes more time for switching on.............Do you know why??

  • @jacklo1996 More time to switch on?!? I don't know, all the timeouts refer to shutdown, not startup things... you can try to use different values instead of 5000 (5 seconds), and see if there is any positive difference.

  • Seems to have resolved my window flickering problem, so extensively exemplified in the video--and it is a far bigger problem then mere annoyance. There must be special place in geek heaven for helpful tech souls such as yourself, furulevi.

  • I will never have this problem, coz i am a macfag ;)

  • ran the Reg file and it fixed my problem :D :D :D

Cant thank you enough for this video and help :D

  • @MvPTony :) :) :)

  • Okay well my issue may not be that serious but say you are on youtube or any site with video, the pane will go blank when I wave the cursor over it. Only when I "guess n click" to find the fullscreen button can I view the video. Anyone know why?

  • I think it's a problem with "Waittokillapp" and "menushowdelay" registry tweaks. Doesn't works well on WIndows 7

  • @Xylber Man you are a genius !! MY FLICKERING DISAPPEARED !!! Sollution: 1. create a text file 2. rename it .reg instead of .txt 3. add this text into it REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="5000" "HungAppTimeout"="5000" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="5000" [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop] "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="5000" "HungAppTimeout"="5000" 4. run your new file 5. restart PC
  • @furulevi Thanks ^_^

  • The registry adjustment/cleanup didn't work in my case and I didn't have those entries in my registry at all. However, turning off ALL power saving functionalities worked. Still have to solve the frequent BSOD issue which I never had with other OSes.(half a dozen BSODs a year on my prior notebook, at very bad conditions).

  • The same happens for me tis just that there is a white flicker on the top of my browser and some programs keep getting minimized

  • I have same problem but only with my original windows cd - after i get a copy from torrent I don't have that problem anymore - next upgrade will be without windows for sure

  • is your pc a hp

  • @6Cozmik9 it is a desktop computer assembled from custom components. But the problem was present on laptops and other desktop pcs too. After changing the whole OS (windows 7) sometimes it is not reappearing using the same software...

  • check for your latest graphics card driver.

  • @Man93Pool There are no known viruses... ESET smart Security is installed, even if one program is running the flickering can appear, Memory is 3GB, that is more than enough for a few software...

  • YOU HAVE EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I HAVE and i thought coming here would solve it but it didnt since no one commented though... if you ever find a solution PLEASE msg me!!!
