Ah, but if you feed them on purpose, then you are telling them to come back with some friends and soon you are having to feed several families of mice.
I managed to rescue a mouse from one of the newer glue in plastic tray traps. They're smaller, and he was only stuck feet and tail on it. Last I saw of that little guy, he was charging down the driveway. You are as kind a soul as you are beautiful, milady.
Thanks for this-- I've sent it along to friends. How compassionate. I read in some old book that if you write a plea to a mouse on a piece of paper, coat it with grease, roll it up and stick it into the mouse's hole, they will find it, eat it,get your message and stay away.
I had a similar experience with glue traps a long time ago...I won't use them, either. Somewhere out there in VA, there was a little mouse running around with tiny yellow glue-trap booties on its little feet when I let it go in the woods behind our house.

Cute lil things, yet, they multiply like crazy, not good for the home, try a live cage trap, it doesn't kill em.

I use box traps. They work great for mice, (small traps) possums, rabbits, raccoons, but not to good for skunks!

I tried writin' signs sayin' "Not in this House, Mouse!" but I guess my mice were too young to read...
We don't put food out for them, they seem to have a 'help yourself' attitude.
