If you're looking to increase your distance on tomahawks, search "Tomahawk for distance" and find my video (third one down probably). I regularly tomahawk over 400 feet and I share some simple things that should increase your distance.
anywho, on normal drives, high drives, low altitude drives...they all go straight as heck, I'm not complaining but rather looking for insight as to why this is happening (I like it) am I getting more spin on it at launch? did my angle change? could it be my wrist flicking down in conjuction with my arm whipping it out? any thoughts much appreciated
I use the Thumber for about 98.9% of my shots, the rest are backhand approach and your basic putts. I use to mainly drive forearm but decided to give thumbing a shot and LOVE iT! I use to throw around 10-11 o clock and they would all finish at 12 or 1ish but now all my shots are dead straight, sometimes finishing a little to the right. I've noticed I can get it out there just as far with a lower shot vs launching it high in the air IE: there is overhead and gotta go under.
Great vid. I usually only use a tomahawk when i'm deep in the woods (which happens quite often lol), but it works pretty well. You have to throw it hard as hell (or at least i do)
Loved the video! My friend introduced me to this as a trick shot and I use it in place of my back hand shot which is really, really bad. Since then, and now knowing the different angles of release of either shot I will really start to turn up the heat. Something about the backhand that I have trouble with but that does not mean I am going to eliminate it from my game. Thanks or the tips and I like the blue hair guy!! Hooyah!
X step on an overhand? Never thought I'd see that, unless that shot of his feet wasn't fore an overhand throw. I must say I can't get distance for crap on my overhands...only good thing is that when I drive overhand off the tee, I'm never on too long of a hole.
wait so the tomahawk doesn't ever turn over? i've never thrown it with a golf disc but when i play ultimate with the 175 g pizza-of-a-disc i throw it all the time and it actually flies upside down...... explanation?
I just started today, only got about 90 minutes before it got dark, thankfully I ran into a guy who'd been playing a few years to show me some stuff, otherwise I'd have no knowledge of this shot, but with that said, I KNOW this throw is going to be a biotch and a half to master for me, hell, to even get not-retarded at it.
no actually tomahawk is what most would call it to my knowledge. Though some have never heard the term Frolf(frisbee golf shortened) so I guess it almost depends on where you live.
dude whole 9 lamar corpus christi 450 feet iv never even came close to making a duce , pulled out my z flick tomahawk the fire out of it bounce maybe 40/50 feet rolled another 20 feet give or take , walked up for a easy two 10 feet out , NANANANA first time, now iv birded every whole on the coarse
If your going to throw the shot and are a PRO like Monty Koz, you better make sure you have legal footing. Your foot has to be behind your mini, not to the side, or even touching it, directly behind the center of your mini. If you are giving me a negative vote you must have to cheat to win.
If you have a good tomahawk, get your hands on an Epic. You throw it using a tomahawk or thumber, but in the air after it rolls over it will flatten out and glide rather than crash to the ground. I'm an ex-college baseball player with an above average arm so I utilize the tomahawk when I can. I've crushed many 450ft+ with the Epic. Some drawbacks is it's very wind sensitive which will cause it to corkscrew, and I've also heard it's illegal now(could be wrong).
i wreck throwing tomahawks, my max dis is prob 330/50' i would tell some body who want a really good disc for over head shot get either innovas champ firebird, or discrafts zflick/ and or the pulse amazing pinpoint accuracy
great vid guys!! and I love how even though disccraft made it...it wasn't really pushing their products like it easly could!!! it was more bout technique...thanks again!
I was always trying to hit hole 15 where I play. You are on top of a hill, and throwing over trees and power lines. I could never get a shot close to it. I watched this, went out, and I shot par on the hole. Always room to improve, but it's a start.
i disagree with using the very overstable discs all the time. unless you are trying to get very big turns from left to right(or the other way around.) my favorite thumber discs are the z avenger(well aged)for the disc landing straight ahead from where i threw it after finishing its turns and the tracker i use for a big turn to the left then a small turn back to the right

Man I have to try angling it like they showed at the end. That 45 degree angle seemed to have a really cool flight.

You don't need really overstable plastic.. Try a beast or an avenger.

isn't this more commonly known as a hammer throw???
william5098 2 years ago
I think most people with an ultimate background know it as a hammer.
