Very nice Time lapse. Its always a question about duration time and interval :-). Aspecialy at night. I can also see that White Balance adjustments are importent in an enviroment as this (all the orange light). I like your film very much and hope to see more time lapse from you.
@dvergastein Thank you. Often considered the most boring shooting one can do with a camera, the end product (a time-lapse video) is just great fun to watch. : )
@JesterAT2000 Thank you sir. When I shot this I was carrying around a 6 pack of Mickey's. The process was as follows; Frame shot, start Intervalometer, drink a can of Mickey's, relocate, and repeat.
what lens adapter are you using? Had you been a premier user before? lol, questions! I have questions :) I know some pros using the 7d for their video work.
Okay, so The Adapter I use was recommended by a Pro (DREWnetwork) on YT. The Fotodiox, Nikon to Canon, adapter. 13 bucks! The adapter goes on and off smoothly, and does focus to infinity. It's a great deal. I just got Premiere Pro CS5 last week and it completely destroyed my previous program (iMovie) on so many levels I cant begin to explain. The export of this same content in iMovie was a disaster. PP CS5 however made the same content close to 100%.
@usframe I got the CS5 Master Collection last week. The content in THIS video was the reason. Last week I exported the same content in this video thru my previous program iMovie and was so disappointed that I took Drews advice and got CS5. The learning curve is high, so I joined Lynda dot com to review tutorials which is of GREAT help. Premiere Pro CS5 & Photoshop CS5 is another buying option, or just Premiere Pro CS5 alone. Thanks usframe, you guys ROCK!!
@wawhiker My hat is off to you, and I wish I could pick your brain over this "new to me" program. This program (CS5) completely destroyed the export of the exact same content in my iMovie program on so many levels. I had refused to upload this content with what iMovie spat out. PP CS5 on the other hand exported something very close to 100% of what the stills I shot produced. This is a serious program. I just wish I knew how to use it : )
@JesterAT2000 That Nikon NIKKOR f/2 lens is the sharpest lens wide open @ f/2 ever made anywhere ever. I did absolutly nothing to these stills in post. In video mode this lens is is unbelievable. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the Canon 7D sensors or what, but it destroys all of my my other lenses, including an f/1.2 and f/1.4. For 1/8 the price of the high end Zeiss stuff.
well i'd like to see what you could do knowing 10 % of it, fuckin cool!! p.s. boats under the bridge wer sweet, also that pretty horizon over the cars, gradually getting darker.....
@TheWakey420 Thanks Blake. The best part about doing these time lapse vid's is I have just enough time to drink a beer while the camera does it's thing.
You've got some seriously magnificent stuff going on here... impressive on a range of levels that I could write an essay about -- especially in terms of composition. I'm thinking this is your best time lapse to date.
@drewnetwork I know you always give it to me straight, so I'm pretty excited to hear this. It's almost a crime what imovie did to this same content. Sky's completely "pixelated", and speed almost uncontrollable. CS5 really is impressive. What I really hope to delve into is shooting with the "suggested settings" you passed on to me, and adjusting each "bin" of shots directly from PS. PS for me currently is a complete mystery.
@cisjohn2616 I know, That boat is carrying passengers back across the Potomac to DC, after dinner at National Harbor. The Capt is probably not fit to swab the deck of a Lobster boat, let alone ferry passengers. People don't know the water around here even when they live right on it.
@mbyr31 Not even close my friend. Each sequence was made up of 115 frames (give or take). The overall time to complete each sequence varied between 12-15 minutes (depending on shutter speed). So the entire shoot took 3 1/2 hours, which includes moving, setting up, drinking beer, setting up, drinking more beer, moving, more beer, and of course drinking more beer. The key is to be able to finish a beer, before the 115 frames are finished.
@kookiemoose I'm pretty good at drinking beer. Setting up a camera, not so much! LOL!! Although my camera don't do half of what your camera does either. I don't think I can adjust shutter speed or much anything else in video mode. I'm going to see if I can't take a class on learning more about this and other cameras. I'm doing something wrong. I don't understand the ISO, I don't understand the f/2 or the other f/?'s
@edtomorrow Photoshop has a feature where with you can edit many images all at once. Since I have only had PS for a week (it comes w/ CS5 Master) I did not use the option. So, instead, (being the walk on the edge, laugh in the face of death kinda guy I am) I adjusted the camera, and hoped for the best.

I don't know how much thought you're putting into it (you may just be naturally good!), but you have an extraordinary eye for composition.

@kookiemoose Okay, I had seen that very adapter for that price, thanks for the info. Did you just get PPCS5 or a collection?
Seems we've always got ideas here, but man, this software does take time to learn. Master? that's another story.
I should have extra "free" time soon, and hopefully get to more video work. lol, I am using you for inspiration.
Will certainly be looking for more creativity from you!

Well, first of all..GREAT job! Each clip must take at least an hour to video before putting into time lapse, right?
All I can say is fantastic job man. You definitely have my vote for best shots!
