@JogglingBean The time with cutscenes is as displayed i.e. 13:01. The video to which you refer uses many inferior strategies and is consequently much slower than this run.
very good job man, my record is 17'37"...still very far from you....but with some training....btw when do you stop the clock? when the final boss explodes?
Yes. I stop when the 5000 points appears next to the boss indicating his demise. It seems you do indeed have more training to do though the only difficult part is learning the levels and then it's simply a matter of getting lucky.
Not entirely. The only way to get a time this low is to play on a PC until you can run through the whole game without deaths. The GB then has the advantage of shorter button presses which help for the jumps that require A to be pressed for no more than a few frames.
listen dude, there are just some things you can'do with gb pocket software, which is different from the emulator, for example the trick you do at 4:21,in 3-1 with the rock and the rocket is just impossible to do with the gb, and also at 5:37 in 3-3 the 2 the 2 platforms are a bit more far, and you cannot pass from one to the other without jumping, like you do. Anyway, you did a very good job. my record is now 15'45".
Have you tested the trick in 3-1 on a gameboy? In 3-3 I wait a bit just before I get to the platforms so they line up nicely for me (only one platform is loaded when I stop).
Looks perfectly alright to me, i had the game on the original gb and it really is possible to do those things. Don't know about gb pocket though, but i doubt that it plays different on it...
This is 84 seconds faster than the current record on SDA; it would have required several deaths before I'd approach it. As for 4:40, a frame perfect jump is required to not slow down there so I wait a little to avoid pressing A during the cutscene.
you must've eaten a lot of frustration to become elite.... imo mario land 1 was so so much harder than mario land 2. cuz it was unforgiving

Played it for years, but never through, because the gameboy got destroyed then :((
But holy shit, definitely one of the best jump n runs ever made, and I don´t know anyone who played it faster!

you're right...but i'd like to underline the fact that i still play this game with GB pocket...which is more difficult than the pc......

While there may have been a few errors, (e.g. 4:40) it seems that they were not major enough to keep you from the record congrats.

You walked right through an enemy at 6:14.
Nailobloc 3 years ago
Negative. There was barely a touch there and even if I had have gone closer, the poor collision detection would work in my favour.
katsukawasojuro 3 years ago
I ain't not seen one faster.

i can do 1st level faster but dats about it.
jezzr101 3 years ago
I can do it faster too but you can't keep restarting because of minor mistakes.

Tool-Assisted? if not wow =)

If it were tool assisted I would have not made any errors.
