Will a more expensive Martin guitar like this, sound better than a cheaper Martin guitar like for example OM-1GT, or will the main difference be that it has a nicer finish? Thnx!
go to the martin guitar website. they are making them now. MSRP is $4199. They started making these in 2006 with a pre-printed Mayer autograph. The 2003 version they only made 404 and has his real autograph on the label. I have one of those.

That is actually a very talented guy that used to work right here with us. The song is an original work of his. His name is Will Mcmorran and you can find him on myspace.
There will always be some sound difference between guitars, even if the guitars are all the same model. You can hear in our different Martin videos how different each guitar,even similar models, can sound from each other. All the guitars were recorded with the same mic and mic placement. The differences in guitars of the same model, such as the John Mayer model, would be very minute.

i'm thinking about saving up for one (affordable my ass xD) *sigh* it's definitely going to take me awhile.
do either ones differentiate in sound and tone at all? i'm wondering if there's someone out there who maybe crazy enough to sell the first signature.
