You have to remember this was the early 80's and apart from atari and commedor 64, NES and SEGA MASTER SYSTEM were a HUUUUUGE leap forward in home video games. If you look at it metaphorically, yes, Nintendo was the blast off point of a metaphorical rocket launch into space...so not far from reality here ;)

Actually ROB was a huge selling point for the NES. Its only after people realised how good the system was and how bad the robot was that it didn't matter anymore about it.
