  • RIP Alan John Challis 2 contingent RANHFV. ( Royal Australian Navy helicopter flight Vietnam) 135th AHC

  • 12 people still support communism

  • Ne Obliviscaris

  • My Grandfather and Great Uncle had 7 tours between them in the Nam. God Bless all those who serve, you will are not forgotten.

  • any veits or children of them i hear this song and i shed a tear 4 all you all i am a very proud ozzie and hold the men and woman and family's who where at Vietnam at the highest respect you all did a great job and never appreciated it came all to late.

  • @howard100ish shit happens huh mate? we cant stop shit from happening :)

  • "Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon" is the best line in my opinion. Such a great song but so sad. Ah and the agent orange reference gets me every time....Lest we forget.

  • @SaxiliciousH you should read the book written by Paul Ham called Vietnam Australia war. you will understand why that word mine is so important in this song. they have it on audio book as well. slow to start off with but it gets informative and interesting later.

  • @Kokoda144 Yeah I already understand the land mine reference. That's why it's my favourite line in the song. I think it's great that they put it in there, a lot of people forget about the horror that was created by land mines during the war/s and the people who suffered as a result don't get nearly enough recognition. But thanks, I might check out the book anyway, it sounds really interesting :)

  • So much respect for this song

  • 12 people are idiots!!

  • the twelve dislikes on this video must be from the twelve most disrespectful people in the world

  • John 15:13-Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend

  • i would probably read "Vietnam, the Australian war" b4 commenting on this song. i notice lots of ppl who are clueless when it comes to Malaya, Korea and Vietnam.

  • Wow, 12 people must be following Osama Bin-Laden, I mean, come on, you are lucky to be here. Who do you think stopped Japanese submarine from bombing our steel-works? Who risked/gave their lives for US. If our ANZAC had not have done any of this for us - we wouldn't be living our happy, safe lives. They did it for us. Who do you think you are.

  • @kelsey11700 Are we lucky to be here?, the only direct threat to Australia Stopped by the Australian military is the Imperial Japanese in WW2, as for risking their lives, the governments misguided views on Asian Communism caused a real dilemma, Australia did very poorly out of Vietnam and Korea and didn't effectively win either, Perhaps reading varied accounts of History rather than resorting to Instant knee jerk reactions of Blaming a dead guy who has really nothing to do with This Video

  • how could anyone dislike this song, people dont think about what people did for us. Lest We Forget.

  • lest we forget we honor you Australia and our allies

  • lest we forget? so why have we? why are young aussies dying in afghanistan? can anyone tell me what for? rip all the fallen.

  • One of very few songs that brings a tear to my eye. One of the others is The Herds cover of it. This song needs to be covered each and every generation and refresh the important message to all young people.

  • Too have peace we must have war.

  • REDGUM was communist fuck war fuck governments

  • @deano509 REDGUM were not communist they were protested against the vietnam war and the effects it had on the soldiers. REDGUM members like John Schumann were part of the Australian democrats not communist. And please restrain from swearing on a song like this. I respect your right for your opinion but show the fallen some too. LEST WE FORGET

  • @KAMIKAZEinbound yea he was he says it in his documentary and he has sayd so in his song red rager and he didn't support the war he wrote this song because it was a pointless war

  • @deano509 My family in particular my mother knew John and used to talk to him. I remember him saying that he felt sorry for the soldiers that went off to nam.

  • Comment removed

  • @deano509 You have no idea what you have just said you backward thinking know nothing. Do some research before you go shooting your obviously ill-educated mouth off. Yes war is not good, Yes the Government is responsible for having sent our blokes off to every conflict but the entire membership of RedGum has always been Australian to their very core. I suppose Hilltop Hoods and Bliss n Eso are communists as well because of their being against sending Aussies to Afghanistan. Grow up retard.

  • @Ozjourneyman fuck you gay cunt

  • @deano509 Wow! Solid come back..... NOT!!!! Try again dildo.

  • @deano509 Seriously if you have to resort to the "gay" card then you are a freaked out closet doughnut puncher. Try again dildo.

  • i think the vidioe is more powerful than the song . i love it

  • every time i listen to this song i get the normal tear to my eye and remember those who died. Lest We Forget

  • lest we forget

  • They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning- we will remember them. Lest we forget.

  • great song i love it good job least we forget

  • great song i love it good job

  • this song is a constant reminder that war is enevatable unless people change the way they think and accept things for what they are and nothing more

  • Lest we forget, not just the ANZAC soldiers

  • lest we forget the heros who fought for us to give us what we have today!!! i will never forget, i take my hat off to you all

  • This is nothing about communism or whatever.... This is about Aussie spirit and we stand up for ourselves..... My pop was in WII and my dad was in Vietnam..... Both were young when they served.... I'm 31, this song brings a tear to my eye everytime i hear it, my dad and pop fought for this country! I think we should hold respects for people that make Australia ours....

  • 12 people were VC.

  • @ColonelAli ur an idiot

  • god we owe them something powerful, something that we should all be willing to give. god this is a powerful piece of music, it illustrates something that truly shows australian spirit, and god help them, they were only 19....

  • "God Help Them..They were only 19..."

  • and can you tell me doctor why i still cant get to sleep, and why the channel 7 chopper chills me to my feet.

  • On this Australia day January 26 2011 We will also remember them.

  • lest we forget

  • Cheers to them all.

  • :(

    is all

  • Lest We Forget.

  • This song not only shows some of the war but tells of the story too here.

My good friend from Aussie who has died now sent this song to me last year and now I play it in memory for him and all that has lost their life in this war and all wars.

    R.I.P. Peter

  • @Critters4U .. good for you, mate. A song shared with a great friend and loved ones, replayed years later does more to bring back memories than a thousand words. As long as you have this song, the friendship you had will always be real to you.

  • @Critters4U we all go through tough times, but the truth of it all is that we just can't run from war

  • this song is so sad i allways cry when i here this song

  • this is a good song but it the not make me cry

  • beautiful song.

  • Lost my dad in Vietnam. This vid always messes me up.

  • @gazzablanca You made me cry! I keep saying to myself 'detour.' You can't avoid the past, but you can limit it

  • This song is for the fallen soilders who took their lives for us.

Good on ya Australia. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!!!

  • 2009 Feb 12 Australian commandos involved in a bungled raid in which six civilians including five children were killed. Australia Defence initially said six people died in the attack, including 5 children and an insurgent however all killed were civilians including 2 babies, 3 children and a teenager.. Several other women and children were wounded. An undisclosed amount paid. Three Australian soldiers have been charged with manslaughter.

  • i was younger but have never looked back my old friend ? thx i just realised how young i was, brilliant, i sometimes wish i was dead but m kind of glad i aint!!!!

  • @46Hasbo You wish you were dead? That's nice to hear...

  • What a pitty unreal aussie 1 is hijacking this page. Lets get back to what this is all about........Our Vietnam Vetrans.!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mrsgritoli1 wat so now your to gutless to reply to my comments, dont u bullshit that im writing alot on this page uve commented on this more than i have 10 fold, if u could actually get your history right it wouldnt b needed,

  • @mrsgritoli1 the only reason your talking like this now is because your loseing the arguement, and are appealing the the rest of the writers on this for help by writing this sappy shit. u have been un open to reason and the actual historical facts around this war and every other war. u have wasted every1s time with your posts because all they are are hate speeches against other cultures.

  • @UnrealAussie1 RZJZTKLSKI JOKREBSERKZ

  • @mrsgritoli1 wtf

  • @mrsgritoli1 u are a fucking retard man

  • 12 people are Vietnamese communist party members

  • Ans shall all ways remain in our hearts and heads forever xxx

  • vietnam anthem for all our aussie diggers out there who served in nam.

  • I have great respect for all veterans, but this was such a pointless war....

As is Afganistan (not Iraq, we had to get rid of Saddam)

  • All I want to say is that Unreal Aussie and I would probably dislike each other at first sight. Nevertheless I agree 100% with his opinion. And only a real Aussie would begin a posting with the the line - You disrespectful cunt ...

    Respect

  • ID LIKE TO SEE A ANIME MUSIC VIDEO OF THIS :p

  • can't help but feel choked up when i hear this song

  • i think it was also wrong how these guys were treated they had to do a job and they did it some even loosing there lives and the guys who did come home will probley never be the same again with what they seen and went through god bless to you all and RIP to the ones who didnt make it home and thank you

  • is P.T.S.D when your anxiety blows threw the roof n you shake, and everything turns red, then ya start throwing ya guts up and FEAR is so bad you just agree to anything and you trust no one, then the headaches start and if your unlucky enouph to be around a backfire ,you shit your self, relationships are a no no,then starts the self harm and that blood running relieves a bit,n all you can think of is killing, and you weapon up every where you go,maybe im just having a bad 18yrs

  • @mcandrewmark20l uve had P T S D for 18 yrs now ?

  • @mcandrewmark20l yes...

  • This song to me is lamenting the sadness of the pain and suffering of many soldiers whose lives are changed irreversably. This song says we acknowledge you, hope to understand you and are deeply sorry. FUK the politics, they were innocent human beings who were damaged irreparably. I hate the governments not the combatents. I'll fight you to the death if u like but I will only fight a war on my terms in my country only. Let the politicians kill themselves.

  • If you can't understand Severe Post Traumatic Stress. I don't think u understand the meaning of this song. This to me is saying sorry for what your country did to all those young soldiers. Post Traumatic Stress isn't a visible wound and I have difficulty understanding it at 50. I think it starts out as fear, then shows itself as extreme uncontrolloable anger and violence to any threat. U r prepared to die, this will ease the pain. The fear hasn't gone, but u don't cower and then u cry.

  • I noticed Battle Fatigue, Shell Shock or Severe Post Traumatic Stress barely gets a mention here. I was dragged through Cambodia and Vietnam in the 60's as a child of a Dum Fuk Australian Diplomat. Later found out he was ASIO or ASIS. I suffer Severe Post Traumatic Stress from being the son of that dum fuk. I also know from that dum fuk that your country, even your own father doesn't may not give a fuk about. These wars a political and the soldiers are the ignorant tools in it.

  • @CeeJay559 show respect to these men mate, lots were conscripts. lose the thing about ignorant tools. soldiers are dont what they they are told to do nothing else. also show respect to your old man. he is afta all yor father and without him u wouldnt b here

  • @UnrealAussie1 U don't understand what I said. The only insult is to the government and politicians that send the men to war. Vet's are not insulted by my use of the term ignorant. Ignorance is not by choice, but by conscription. U don't know my father, after taking every cent, ran off with another women leaving us destitute. For 32 years no Chrissie card ,nothing while he lived in his $5 mill mansion. Thank god he died it was a relief from the constant hope. His dad left his will 2 us. Says alot

  • @UnrealAussie1 I guess is u r quite young & have had an easy life. My father was described by the courts as a disinterested father who refused to pay any maintenace until forced 4 years later. It wasn't backdated. If you bring a child into this world, you make sure you are there for that child for the rest of it's life no matter what. If you haven't personally experienced something, any ipinion you have means nothing. It's very different on the inside, than looking from the outside in. Think

  • @CeeJay559 well, i cant exactly think wen i dont know wat its like.

  • @UnrealAussie1 Don't take what I've said the wrong way. Those who disrespect are the ones u should feel sorry for. The Vietnam vets were spat on by Australians when they returned home. It was a different era &media was more powerful. I'm not religious at all, but what a wonderful world this would be if we were all like Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandella & Fred Hollows.....what we give out is what we get back.....took me a while practice it....the difficulty squashing the ingrained bad habits

  • jeeeezus people..why not give credit to a group of soldiers who would've rather been at home with their mates than have to be shipped off to a country that dosn't want them there....fight in the way aussies do(brave, gallant and allmost suicidal)for us and their mates,,,,,,i for one am in awe of the courage of ALL of our armed forces.....RESPECT....

  • @metalfranga Go and talk to some war veterans, if they will. My grandfather was a ww1 vet, discharged after wounded. Signed back up a second time. I shake my head in disbelief. You have to understand the expectations on a person in that era. They were just blindly expected to do their duty. To not fight meant total isolation from society. There were no anti war protesters and education was very limited to only the rich. Have a look on youtube, the old videos under, "Shell Shock." I have sympathy

  • Comment removed

  • @metalfranga My 96 year old uncle was a WW2 Commando with the 'Z Specials' there is a book on them. None of them knew what they were really getting themselves into. They were 18/19 year olds ending up in a psych ward, in a nursing home,a hospital, crippled or dead. I don't know a soldier that uses the words brave, gallant or heroes. They're words that are used by those who don't know war. Most of them feel like fukkn idiots for being at war. The stress war causes makes you suicidal. SHELL SHOCK

  • @CeeJay559 "...brave, gallant or heroes. They're words that are used by those who don't know war." one of the best statements in this thread. the things you do for the accidental friends you've made, and what you are given to do by the chain of command, in a really really bad situation. "bravery" happens when signing up for it, unknowing what you're in for. rest is trying to keep yourself alive, and depending upon your mates, and being depended upon by them. you live, you're called "hero."

  • i love the internet for all the comments below... clearly the song is about the shit these poor blokes sent off to fight someone elses war were going through... and we got Radneck fcuks cheering the fact that they were killing vietnamese - surprised u didnt call em chinks

Irony about the capitalist witch hunt on communism is britian has got a communist as the opposition leader see: Milliband

and have a look at the west now americas economy is in worse state than the so called communist chinese

  • @hzrdswun actually they call them the cong

and milliband is not a commy rather have him than david cameron he is a fascist

  • nothin but respect

  • Aboriginals own this country take your war and infiltration of someones elses country elsewhere .,abbos built this land from scratch without war!Yes maybe the influx and invasion by other countries wrecked this wonderful land .But dont glorify war take it where it come from.

  • @eddyfishen u disrespectful cunt, alot of these men were conscripts, war is nt being glorified, he is telling of the hard ships suffered, and dont bullshit that abos built it from scratch, its basic human nature to fight, and abos fought just as much as every1 else did

  • Which disgusting pigs in their right mind would dislike this!

  • @JanillaProductions people who dont like the song....i disliked it but that dosent mean i dont respect the veterins.. no need to get offensive love

  • @ymjkvbs Considering you cannot even spell the word right, you prove you're a disrespectful pig. This song is about the veterans and MUCH, MUCH more, realise that please, love.

  • i miss u pop both sides didnt deserve it R.I.P LEST WE FORGET WE WILL NEVER FORGET POP.

  • @xNiUmOwNer The US Government were mostly white. They massacred millions, they deformed children and they lost a war that was totally unjustified. Yet you blame the Asians. Can you attempt to justify this absurd take on history or r u just racist?

  • @xNiUmOwNer The Vietnamese didn't do shit apart from defend their country, sure they did some horrible things but who can blame them when the Americans were bombing them constantly, Vietnam still hasn't recovered. Stop being such a racist prick.

  • this song is dedication to al the men served in vietnam 1966-1972 with our forces,

including my own father who served in ordinance field park (6OFP det 1OFP) nui-dat south vietnam, and is in memory to those fallen men that didnt return

  • dedicated to all the vietnam vetrans who served with our forces 1966-1972 including my own father (6OFP)det(1OFP) nui-dat south vietnam and to the memory of those fallen men who didnt return

  • mad song

  • thankyou for all the Service men and women of this great country Australia and may the ones that never made it home may you guys Rest In Peace..thanks

  • My mate was wounded in Vietnam in 1969, His physical injuries healed, but the mental ones didn't. We buried him last week. At last he is at peace. An amazing, brave, inspiration to all who knew him. Rest easy mate - I miss you.

  • @ThingsTakeTime So sorry to hear that buddy.I was there in 1970. Body wounds can usually be healed but mental ones can take forever.

  • @ThingsTakeTime i am sory for your mate R.I.P !!

  • God Bless our returned men&women and those currently serving.

They all fought to keep Australia free. As the old saying goes.."I MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY, BUT ILL DEFEND YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT".

  • @mrsgritoli1 You are to invested in the belief that a war conducted by Australia and probably America is justified. Nobody was defeding Australian freedoms in Vietnam, Vietnam had nothing to do with Australia and Vietnam had made no threat to Australia. Instead, Americans and Australians were incorectly sent there- I believe we should remember the bravery of the individual soldier and the trajedy of the the young dead, but not expropriate the actions of the soldiers to glorify the state.

  • @thatcher88 Any communist threat to our freedoms should be defended!!!

  • @mrsgritoli1 Can you actually explain how going into South Vietnam and killing millions of Vietnamese and our own soldiers was defedning freedom in the United States, Australia and the rest of the Western World when they never attacked and had no intention to attack us, and how neccesary a war was when we are perfectly free today despite having lost the war, minus the loss of millions of peoples' lives to achieve absoultley nothing for anybody with the exception of the military industrialists.

  • @thatcher88 Yeah just like Hitler had no intention of invading half of Europe.

Why dont you just piss off you little commie flog!!!!! You graduated from high school last year did you??....Well you have a lot to learn!!!!!!!......Some of us our proud to be Australian and will defend our country in what ever capacity we can.

GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA AND OUR WAY OF LIFE!!!!!!

  • @mrsgritoli1 dont you think the germans would say the same during ww2. eg some of us are proud to be germans and we will defend our country. Vietnam was a total fucken waste of time and its about time people started questioning wars rather then giving the bullshit answer i am proud to be Australian.

either way i respect the lads that fought ON BOTH sides of the trench.

  • @msduicp Not much TRENCH warfare in Vietnam DICKHEAD.

P.S. our engineers blew your ternches to the SHIEZENHOUSE during WW1.

Stick that in ya pipe& smoke it FRITZ

  • @mrsgritoli1 you are a total fuck head. this could take a while to explain but its a old military saying "both side of the trench" you total fuckhead. you obviously know nothing about military so run along to the tattoo shop get the southern cross in ya ass and start walking up and down gay lane screaming god bless australia.

  • @mrsgritoli1 You're implying that the asians were the bad guys, I guarentee you that the Vietnamese had nothing to do with us going in there. The reason we entered Vietnam was because of Americas insecurties about communism, we supposedly went in there to "protect" the South Vietnam from communism, but what the Americans ended up doing was just bombing much of Vietnam and dropping Agent Orange on everything. Millions of Vietnamese soldiers died for nothinh, 50,000 Americans died. FUCK YOU!

  • Actually, they are not your engineers. In fact, they have nothing to do with your life. It is time our society stopped beliving that past conflicts are justifiable inter-country rivalries.

  • @thatcher88 You can fuck up and shut up or you can fuck up and fuck off!!!

Who do you think you are tell people what we should believe go suck your self of dick brain!

  • @TheFluffy307 I am simply saying what are verifiable facts. I reserve the right to tell people not what they should believe in, but what they should assert as an objective fact. Personal insults do not disprove that claiming the life of an engineer to expropriate for jingoism is something which should be avoided.

  • @mrsgritoli1 u are a total tool man, to be a proud aussie means u have respect for both sides who fought in the war.

  • @mrsgritoli1 Actually, Hitler did intend to invade half of Europe. Rather than call me a commie, which is just your way to dismiss valid points, can you please demonstrate how going in to South Vietnam and killing millions of Vietnamese defends anybodys freedoms, at what stage they attacked us, and the point of a war which killed millinos of Vietnamese and our own soldiers when we remain free despite having lost the war. Please, rather than personal attacks, engage with the question.

  • @mrsgritoli1 actually he is right mate, there was no need for the vietnam war, communism wouldnt have spread like every1 thought it was going to, u need to go bac to school an learn your history. however i will say he is very disrespectful for posting wat he did wen some were conscripts to start with

  • @UnrealAussie1 You need to go BACK to school and learn how to spell.

  • @mrsgritoli1 ok lets get one thing straight here, there arguement here is about the war, nt my spelling, i dont give a shit about that. secondly your an idiot. now that we have that cleared up what is yor come back, so far what ive read from your comments is that u have no idea what your talking about wen it comes to history. you sound like an american red neck. stupid.

  • @UnrealAussie1 Stop trying to bait other users with your stupid rants. Communism may not be much of a threat now, but back in the 1950s& 60s it was. P.S. I am Australian to the HILT.

  • @mrsgritoli1 bullshit. communism was never a threat. were we an unstable counrty with poverty. no. did we have a strong capitalist government. yes. the only reason communism spread in asia is because most were poverty stricken afta ww2 an saw communism as a way to get out of it. strong wealthy capitalist governments dont fall to communism. and no your nt an aussie to the hilt. aussies are strong and proud ppl. but we also respect our enemies. u fit into neither of those.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDandman were are u getting china from wen we are talking about vietnam, this is about vietnam here mate the entire song is about vietman. nt ww2 mate

  • Comment removed

  • @UnrealAussie1 ill say it again, y do they have to have a capitalist government because we helped them, thats just like saying u have to be my slave for a week because i helped u. learn and understand what communism is matev nt just by wat u here in the extremely bias media, i wouldnt like it personally but ther are some parts i would like.

  • @MrDandman Even if you're trolling or just stupid.... Wow.... That's retarded

  • @MrDandman china was already in a civil war before ww2, o and it was the capitalists who started it by massacuring thousands of unarmed civilians. when they were attacked they just stopped it and joined forces to defend there country for ww2 then started the civil war again after the war was over. i dont know why u have a problem with communism, it has its good traits like everything does. china owes us nothing. they dont have to have a capitalist government just because we helped them.

  • Comment removed

  • @UnrealAussie1 You're an idiot. Every advancement China has made in the last decade has been because it has adopted Capitalist ideas, Free market economics has transformed China into what it is today.

19 years old and lecturing the world about communism. You weren't even born when real Communism wreaked havoc on the world.

  • @semtex84 19 years old and ive get a better education about communism then u ever will. every country gets to chhose what government it wants even if we dont think its th right 1, communism never was a threat, it was th west's superstition about it that made it look dangerous, go to school and learn this.

  • @UnrealAussie1 Hey mate, it's interesting talking with people that have grown up in communist countries. My ex-girlfriend was chinese, and even at 25 years of age, they still almost worship Mao Zedong over there. You can't say a bad thing about him, even though he's responsible for the deaths of many political opponents. I have a mate that went through the Soviet education system until he was 10, when his family left. Communism doesn't allow free thought. I've read the Communist Manifesto.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrsgritoli1 u are such a dumbass man

  • Respond to this video... I graduated from High School last year, how do I know this and you don't?

  • @mrsgritoli1 can u explain also how communism threatend australia wen we are a strong capitalist government with no signs of weakening. the main reason it was so popular in asian countries is because many saw it as a way out of poverty

  • @thatcher88 the reason wars like this garner support to this day is cause of all the ignorants your arguing with over here... war is hell and anyone that brings hell upon another person must be the devil what civil liberties poor australian kids had to go to vietnam to die for is a mystery but its allways reassuring to hear a bunch of rednecks vehemently arguing the validity of it

all the people who loved the anzac spirit so much why not enlist now - wat the hell are u doing on youtube???

  • @hzrdswun This is NOT about the war. Many did not choose to go to Vietnam (see 'Conscription'), but they did so. They put their lives on the line for others. I make no bones that, as a war, I did not like Vietnam, but I fully support and respect every man who served there - the same goes for every soldier currently serving.

There is a distinct difference between honoring, respecting and supporting the people who fight wars, and honoring, respecting and supporting the wars themselves.

  • @hzrdswun I tried but they would let me enlist due 2 asthma

  • @hzrdswun well mate some of us have medical conditions stoping us, every1 here is respecting the anzac's, so what gives u the right to dishonor them.

  • I agree, but let's not forget that this is an anti-war song. Reciting "Lest we forget" is not enough if we only think it means that we should not forget the sacrifices made by soldiers. The whole point of this song is that war is completely unacceptable, and we forget its ravages at our peril. Politicians did so recently, when they went into Iraq, and again when they went into Afghanistan. Great to see this song again: after all these years, it endures.

  • fucking legends, men who knew what it meant to be a man. god bless them all !

  • im 25 and nothin means more to me that the anzacs

  • @brownybear123 Why the ANZACs, have you heard of the ANZAC myth? There is much more to Australian Military History than what is popularised in the media.

  • @thatcher88 This is true mate, but we were all brought up on the digger spirit, get in there work hard no matter what and get the job done. As far as I see it that's all the aussie history I need!

  • @TyThatAussieGuy Except what you describe as the Digger Spirit is not how the Diggers behaved during war. The Diggers were not great warriors, no greater than other nation, they were just normal men, and this is what should be celebrated. The point is that most historical evidence about Australian soldiers in battle show they were just as frightened, reluctant to fight, and bitter as any human being would be during war. Let the Digger spirit rest with the Diggers, lets not exploit it.

  • @thatcher88 Are you kidding me mate? Fuck me! yes they were just normal men and yes they were scared but they were heroes because the dug in deep and fought on! Hence working hard! Does the term Lest we forget mean nothing to you? We do NOT let the digger spirit rest with the digs we should be proud we had men like that, yes we have anzac day and remembrance day to remember them but hell I want people to remember the spirit every day.

Mate you need to look hard at your views and come back!

  • @TyThatAussieGuy They are heroes as all soldiers who fight are allegedley heroes. Most men in Gallipoli were reluctant to fight and cynical towards the war. What part of the murder of Turks on Turkish soil, a nation and a people who never attacked Australia, can possibly be celebrated? Even if you do not celebrate that, why should our national history be defined by a 'bloody sacrifice', as if the spilt blood of our young makes us more of a nation. It doesn't- it makes us crass and blood thirsty.

  • @thatcher88 actually mate ready your history, in ww1 aussie troops were by 1918 put on most front lines, nothing has changed since, we still are in the top 5 for the best trained soldiers in the world.

  • what the fuck did us fucking army in vietnam wtf have vietnam did to us us army is just fuck when they gionna go to vietnam actually im happy a the vietnam punch us army to the shit they won and was the best just dont say anything eyther

  • @Quantumman100 ill say wat i said to the other guy who posted this kinda shit. u are a disrespectful cunt, how can u say something like that when alot of these soldiers were conscripts, dont evencomment on this stuff if u are going to disrespect those who have died for what they believed was right. and dont ever moke those who died as conscripts.

  • Wonder what would happen if we invested as much money, time and effort in creating peace as we do in waging war? It's never been tried by governments, only by people like Gandhi. All those poor 19 year old's lives wasted on rich men's wars.

Imagine a world where we could all dance together rather than fear each other?

Someday it will happen. With work and patience and compassion, it will happen.

  • @paulineprojectlove It will never happen. The armaments companies pack to big a punch. Remember no one abhor's war more than the warriors that have to fight them......politicians and big business does I think however love them because they mean big profits.I like your idea though.

  • @paulineprojectlove I'd hate to be the one pointing out that in Oz the age of Conscription was 20....and that most of the conscripts turned or were turning 21 whilst in Vietnam. American 1980's songs aside.....

  • @paulineprojectlove human nature to fight mate, u need an army sometimes. otherwise the world would be ruled by fruit loops like hitler an the north korean 1, whos name i can nt spell

  • We can support our troops, without supporting the war.

  • what a pack of loosing gun toting cunts 0 fuck your collective fists

  • Dread1973,

I see. My mistake. Sorry, I take back what I said.

  • @CM26617 Cheers ;) There's a lot more to the Australian story in Vietnam than just Long Tan. 50 000 Aussies served there from 62 to 72. 49 800 odd of them weren't at Long Tan ;)

Its sad to see, and is an indictment on our education system, to see some of the absolute tripe of bollocks being posted about something that is so recent in our history and so well documented.
