@Brandon35thSS i can't really remember what i had it set at when i made this. The volume was probably around 1 o'clock and the master was probably closer to 2 or 3 o'clock. It was loud, but not quite dimed.
thanks dude, i always use a delay when i'm playing live and sometimes a compressor for that rhythmic sort of chicken picking (or if i want a really tight Brent Mason sound).
no i haven't, i've always just used combo amps - mostly for ease of transport. I'm looking to sell my amp and get a real good Vox-type amp. Probably in a head & cab setup too.
I have heard that a cab and head sounds a bit better than a combo-something gets lost when you join the two for some reason, or at least thats what some professionals have told me but more difficult to transport for sure.
Are you running any effects? If so what are you running? I am thinking of getting the Maz 38 Sr. head and if it sounds that good I'm going to go pick one up.
Actually in this video i'm not running any effects at all. It's just my tele plugged straight into the amp. It's a great multi-purpose amp that'll give you a range of tones from Fenders to Vox.
Thanks man, appreciate the encouragement. I'm actually not in any specific band at the moment, but i play on a lot of different church music teams. I'm still working on figuring out a few other soloing techniques before i try and get involved heavily with a band.
I listen to a lot of Paisley/Brent Mason songs, then try and learn the solo's note for note. Sometimes i use a "slow-down" program on my computer (literally slows the music down - google "slow-downer"). That helps.
I also study lots of scales, box patterns and chord shapes - half the licks in the vid i just made up on the spot.
yeah man. Cornography has some cool licks on it but it's tough cuz they've got Bill Anderson, Jimmy Dickens and George Jones doing they're buckaroo skit overtop of the guitar playing. it's hard to hear they picking.
Have you ever noticed how Little Jimmy Dickens seems to be in a lot of Paisley's videos? I looked him up and it seems he always had that bawdy (naughty) sense of humour. Sad I've listened to that song so much I can hear they're not in the same studio. Dolly definitely isn't. Hope they come out with a Paisley tab book or learn to play DVD.
Brad is very good friends with Jimmy, has been for a long time. Brad seems to enjoy having his old hero/mentor make cameo's is his videos.
A paisley tab book or instructional DVD would make a lot of people happy, but sadly i can almost guarantee it won't happen. He's too much of a hot ticket item in the music biz right now for them to worry about marketing to a small crowd like us guitar pickers. The instrumental album was a miracle all by itself in that regard...
ah ok. no, the entire beginning part (up to 0:17) was 'Departure' (from Paisley's "Play" album).
That's cool man, i'd totally recommend letting a professional tech take care of drilling the neck joint holes. pick-guard screw holes aren't quite so bad, a small mistake in that won't mess up the playability and sound of your instrument, but improper neck attachment can be a bad thing.
there's lots of resources online for beginners to building tele's. check em' out. Good Luck!
what were your settings on the master and the volume?

have you played the same amp with the head and cab separate?

How do you learn your sizzling country licks, like the Paisley stuff?

Thanks, will look for slow-downer. Those guys are so fast! I want to work out Cornography so badly.

some where near the beginning... 0.13s
Any advice for me, cos' I'm thinking of assembling my part-o-caster:
The drilling of pickguard screw-holes and the neck joints looks very ominous to me!

was that Welcome to the Future?
garlzz2000 2 years ago
no, i wasn't playing 'Welcome to The Future' in this vid. I like the main lick in that song though, it's cool.
Which part were you talking about (just out of curiosity)?
