In this moment of the film he realised that this is bigger than just a boxing bout, bigger than a fight. He realised he was fighting for much much more - for Africa, for freedom and for the people...love this scene.
One of the best scene's ever! People are power..their faith in ali..was ali's real power, it gave him sufficient spirit to defeat, frazier..and even overcome his innerself.
I promised you,Wil Smith cried when he saw this scene. The emotion he showed is Oscar worthy.Hell,my eyes get watery everytime I see this.Hands down the best part in the movie, the song was perfect
I have no culture, i have no country,..i have only God and i am connected to every single living soul,,may it be evil or good..i influence in a way that it doesn't make sense..to science ..it s spirit of the highest degree..i live in my body but my soul is free..free to choose..free to take and give..your eyez are mine key to your soul..so guess where i am ?
1 man leadership ship hidden behind democration, destruction of human spirit hidden in the shadow of capitalism, people living in illusion, deseases, wars created for the depopulation process, politics used to control society and to generate puppets, slaves of the devil, media used to empower followers through brainswashing, facts of history hidden and changed continuesly to burry evidence...all of this some basic stuff, i aint even goin in depth,, even a blind man can notice this..
like u guys....when i watched this scene for the 1st time...i was liked being connected to this people who needs a voice and thats ALI..i felt the connection emotionally and spiritually....thats why he is called ''THE GREATEST''..
This is in fact the best scene of the movie! Man they believe in him as the savior from all the misery! I am definitely on the side of the spirit of the 3rd world, of the ones who are the voiceless who dont even have the power to raise their fist, their honor was stolen and abused and i hope deeply that someday all of them will be happy! This scene describes it perfectly which is worth shedding tears to!
Inspiring scene from a sweet movie. Duffytime you are quite misinformed aren't you? Why would you want to be drafted into a war which no American should have entered into. From memory the Vietcong forced the US government to remove all troops due to such substantial losses. It was a stupid war started by stupid people for stupid reasons.
And in the words of Chris Rock "I ain't shooting nobody, so call me a faggot. When the war's over, I'll be the faggot with two legs!"
@duffytime any why wouldnt u have a country mate? did the vietnamese ever set foot in your country? its either time for u to grow up or wake up. i probably say the later is more appropriate.
the english translation of lyrics I will not feel this way anymore. I will not remember this feeling. I will remember the emotion. I will remember the moment. It will be a memory. A recollection, a description. It will be tainted and impure. Coloured by mission, by vision, by recollection. Today... I cannot capture it. Not even just yet. I have been blemished. In thought, emotion, mission. ... .
@barishov2 Do you the entire lyrics to this song in english and african? Just wondering since you posted translation of the lyrics. Thanks! I love this song and movie!

just remember what he really was. a draft dodger. you cant be more unamerican then ali. make all your money and have freedom in a country you wont die for. oyeah, like the song.
He didnt 'dodge' anything, he could have gone into service and would have been stationed in someplace safe. Instead he sacrificed his carreer for his ideals.
Besides, what freedom? Maybe youre forgetting the small fact that blacks were second class citizens back then?
I don't like hammed ali as a person ( before you send me negative comments watch that documentary about the 30th anniversary of the " thrilla in manilla " fight by HBO documentaries. Play close attention to how he betrayed and played racial politics against joe frazier ), but at the same time I can't deny that this guy did some great things for the sport of boxing. And on the same note Ali is one of my all time favorite movies ( mainly because of this scene ). IMHO Michael Mann's best film ever
I was wrong; I thought I only cried two times while watching entertainment.
The first time, the ending of "The Elephant Man," first movie that made me cry (and I'm a guy!) This scene, is the third time I cried during a movie. The second time was when I freed Schala in Chrono Cross.
Don't give a crap what any of you say; this movie shoulda won an oscar. The mural showing Muhamad Ali "boxing" American tanks and war machines, that has been burned into my memory.
