Russia is not a priority for US now. it's quite understandable. priority 1 - domestic finances and economy; priority 2 - wars in Afganistan and Iraq, situation in Pakistan; priority 3 - Iran. so, all the rest including israel-palestinian affairs, Russia, expansion in Caucasus and Asia are put on hold till who knows when.

I believe Obama's desire for good relations with Russia are genuine, there's alot of ground that the US and Russia see eye to eye on. But the Kremlin must get out of its Cold War mentality and be an equal player on the world stage otherwise there will be no change.

The attitude that we can't talk right now is ridiculous. We have vast diplomatic resources, an energetic Secretary of State, and a real need for better relations. If the President's team can't find time to have continuous substantial discussions with Russia, it will be to our detriment in the end.
