  • saw him in 69 first he is TOOO MUCH>>>>>>

  • As good as Plant Winwood and Marriot and Spooky tooth........

  • Never mind Who or whit. Or whither he's better or worse than.

Fir me since 76 his voice has haunted me, jist wish he'd found more success.

He's ma favourite VOICE of all time.

  • What went wrong with his great career? I think it was called the Micky Most effect (bastard...)

  • Rock on Terry Reid! better than Plant all day!

  • Terry is still alive and well. Just wish he would tour.

  • I found about this guy in Devil's Rejects.. thank god Rob Zombie put his music!!

  • ! That's Soul, Man!

  • Briiliant !!!!!!

  • What chords are these I got to learn this one please someone help a tone deaf bloke

  • This guy is awesome. It one of the sadest things in history that he never became the legend he was destined to be.

  • @charon000 I know exactly what you mean but he is a legend!!!!

  • its like sex in a bucket drowing in whiskey

  • Can understand y jimmy page wanted his voice for led zep....it is so emotional and so bluesy.....love rock singers and I would pick his voice over paul rogers and robert plant....altho I love theirs too.....honorable mentions...peter hammill, captain beefheart, roger daltrey and van morrisson.

  • does anybody know anything more about this song....is it recorded on an album???...i have almost all of terry's stuff ...he sounds great then and still sounds great(saw him at BB kings NYC in september 10)

  • @1180jrock It's on an album called 'The Most of Terry Reid', released in 1969. Not sure if it's available on CD. Also has Mayfly, July, Rich Kid Blues etc. Well worth hunting down.

  • What went wrong here?, why wasn't this guy recognised as one of the greatest proponents of British pop/rock?

Didn't he fit the stupid plastic media's ideal of a musician?

Now we have the totally talentless Cheryl Cole et al, bye bye popular music!

  • @cruithneuladh I used to manage a solo artist who knew Terry and I chatted with Terry and his wife. Terry was asked to be Led Zep vocalist and he recommended Robert Plant instead. Terry's voice is awesome and he's a lovely chap too.

  • @cherubsgirl Yeah...that's part of it. Terry would have gone for it if not for Mickie Most threatening to break Pagey's legs if he tried to take him. THAT is why Robert was recommended :)

  • @cranie4 Actually it was Don Arden who threatened Pagey when he was considering Steve Marriott for his next 'project' after The Yardbirds.

  • @thefabulousstevieg He also threatened to break all ten of Page's fingers, not his legs.

  • @terryreidfanbelt Yeah I should have clarified that point shouldn't I !

  • hanman1, thank you so much for posting this, Terry Reid is one of the greatest unsung heroes in British music history, I'm lucky that I managed to get an original LP of his after much searching on the 'net.

A truly talented performer, thanks again for this clip, best wishes.

  • See him at The Boardwalk, Sheffield on 3rd September, 2010

  • @Metalliville I followed him to The Lethones in St.. Andrews. Two of the best shows ever. so far I have listened to Rogue Waves 137 times according to my iTunes listing.

  • I used to have a copy of this on a vinyl album years ago that featured such luminaries as CCS, The Animals and Jeff Beck. Would love to have an MP3

  • This song has just inspired me to write happy songs. Long live good music!!!!!!!!

  • I don't the other artists you're speaking of but will certainly look them up Crow. Do you live anywhere Santa Monica, CA? Terry is playing there on the ninth of April. If I lived anywhere within 300 miles, I'd go! So thanks and thanks Han for posting this. :)

  • How on earth did I miss this man in the 70's? He's wonderful! Is he British? I just discovered him and I want to run out and get everything he's done. Wow.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean-

Terry Reid, Frankie Miller from Scotland, Rory Gallagher out of Cork Ireland...The list goes on with Musicians who never made the top 40 in the USA- But they were Gods in the UK.

Its like there was another Rock Invasion going on outside the USA- its baffling realizing what was going on behind yer back all these years..

  • @crow1062 > in my book, too. Rory was kind enough to hold the backstage door open for me and my way underaged friends, 1974, Atlanta, and made us sit by him on stage. Miss him dearly. Terry, on the other hand, has his own club in L.A. Smart.

  • @Songsmirth

He's a legendary 'nearly man' - My dear friend Keith Webb, now passed away, played drums for him for a few years, and indeed is on this track.

  • this is one of best songs!

  • When Mick Jagger got married to Bianca Jagger in San Tropez in the south of France, the reception was packed with major stars. Jagger hired Terry Reid to be the wedding entertainment. That's how well he's loved by those in the know.

  • Underestimated Legend.

  • he is fucking good. he also got asked to sing deep purple as well as zeppelin. although i would still rather Robert Plant over him.

  • @djjazar > each his own man, no need to compare. but, ultimately, who's been more influential?

  • terry reid owns u chiflow u puss

  • dont think terry suits studio. he's def. a live performer. love his stuff.

  • hanman1- many thanks, beautiful, magic bloke, where is this from please?

  • terry should have been as big as The Stones, thats how good he was

  • What the f..k went wrong with his great carrer? I find him better then Zeppelin. So awesome.

  • @Koruptify Terry and Plant best vocals in the hard rock.

  • @Vencermos dont forget Steve Marriot

  • Terry Reid was Jimmy Page's first choice as Led Zeppelin's vocalist. Reid turned him down flat since his solo career was then taking off. Subsequent legal disputes with manager/producer Mickey Most stalled his career for many years and today he is almost forgotten. A superb talent: singer, songwriter & guitarist.

  • I agree with you Terry = great, great singer,

but he was Jimmy's 2nd choice in 1968. Marriott was Page's first choice around May 1966 ( when he tried to form a band with Moonie, Entwistle and Beck). Moon is also responsible for the name Led Zeppelin.

  • terry reid should have been massive with so much talent?

  • Terry was in great form @ the studio on april 6, 2009. He had the audience in his hand and gave them his heart. I 'm hoping someone has a video of TERRY REID @ THE STUDIO NYC, 4/6/09... the band was a special one:

Ed Rainey from the Cosmic American Derelicts Band on guitar/ slide

    Tony Cimorosi NS upright bass

    Tony Beard Drums

    Benny Harris Keys

  • spot the edit - first chorus is a droo in - exactly same as 2nd chorus....love it since i found it in bargain bin for 19/11 on MFP label in 1972...why they had to fit it into the middle of highway 61 is also a mystery....what a voice...the best to hear for his voice is 'Stay with me Baby'...

  • this is robert pattinson's favorite singer!!!!!

    lol

  • why the fuck are u checking a terry reid´s video??? go listen the jonas bros

  • Have Jonas Bros covered this song?

  • Mr Talentless If you woul have seen terry reid in the late 70s .Lrve at the fillmore east you would never open your ignorant mouth

  • Arrival did a great cover of this Terry tune!

  • i think this is long forgotten but its on the self titled lp. its a part of his highway 61 cover.

  • I love this song too. I believe it is on the Bang BANG ALBUM. iS MY EYESIGHT BAD CAUSE THIS VIDEO IS JUST A PICTURE.

  • This takes me back to when i was a deleviry boy for a local grocery store and my first crush on the checkout girl, it was beautiful then, and is beautiful now..

  • Does anyone know which album this is on?

  • His second - just called 'Terry Reid'. There's a sepia picture of him playing the guitar on the front.

  • Thanks for the info - much appreciated.

  • the one after tthe Bang bang one
