    80's ..........We are the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!

Thanks for posting from the great state of TEXAS!!

  • partied with these guys in 1983 nelson fieldhouse bloomsburg university. best concert of my life

  • "84" -"85" I agree...that was a great time to be in high school. 80's music was awesome. Partying, being happy & feeling good about life. Times have changed for sure. but i'm sure the kids now when their in their 40's will be saying the same things.

  • I agree and how lucky we are to be able to live those great times over again through classic music and the awesomeness of YouTube.

  • How right you are.

  • I kept thinking this would have been an EPIC pairing to Erec and Enide, one of the original Arthurian romances...

AND THIS KNIGHT, WILL BE LIKE NO OTHER KNIGHT.

  • mitchpbear I don't know who you are but I feel exactly as you described when I hear this song ... The 80's, my 80's were wonderful years!

  • I remember this song came out the year after I graduated. I would hear this song and think of the girl I was in love with since the 7th grade but never let her know how I felt. We were friends and she had a boyfriend, but there was always something there. MAN.... the 80's were GREAT!!! Such and awesome time in my life!

  • Fun days they were!!

  • Hey man, the 80's were a blast.

  • Wish i could have been born back then. it must hav been awesome bein a kid in the 80's

  • Beyond awesome!

  • Poor guy.. You must have been short, fat and ugly. I wish I could have that time back now, I love this song. 38 Special was one of the great ones, then and now...

  • Man not to sound corny and I'm totally happy with the way things are now in my life, if not so much the world. But back then the WORLD was a more peaceful place. Flamboyant and decadent sure but peaceful. It was before the age of computers. Before kids started becoming fat and pasty by sitting inside all day. Back before the world became digital. Each generation looks back and thinks the one before it was right. I'm not saying the 80's were the best decade but it was a good time.

  • Peaceful? Ever heard of the crack epidemic?

    New york was a shithole

  • The 80's was the best time of my life, I try to tell my kids that while they sit on the computer or stay inside all day! I don't know how old u r but it's nice to know some younger ones out there would have appreciated it. Thanx!

  • I'm probably about your age. Not a kid but I wouldn't want to be a kid again in this day and age. I was happy to be young when there weren't really computers.

  • Great band...great tune...nuff said

  • 38 Special are easily my favorite band ,even now. Skynyard Sucks !! Bubble head,,,, how do you compaire styles? Impossible !!!

  • 1986 was a fucking GREAT year!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. I guess 86 wasn't great for everyone. You are right though that the 80's had some awesome music. People tend to think of only hair bands when talking about the 80's. There was so much more music with substance than that :)

  • Though I don't condone one-night stands like this song advocates, I do think you only get one life and you darn well better make the most of it. I think mine is more than half over and it makes me feel awful.

  • I hear you on that.

  • Well said.

  • Great song from a great band! Say what you want about the 80's, but the fact is you can't find great bands like 38 Special anymore.

  • you people all make me want to shoot myself

    die in a fire

    hold on loosely for life

  • gran cancion grandes recuerdos

  • The love of my life found. I know who she is,,, She knows me too... She is so young. It's to late for us...

  • Best 38 song ever. There is a sound here that is just amazing. You can certainly hear a Skynyrd influence here.

  • 1985 good times in memory a a my fried charly.

  • 80's music is the Best....

  • DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 38 still out there going strong. While they are still a great band they really took a hit when Jeff Carlisi left the band. I'd love to see him back with them.

  • bless these dudes for all of their great music.... jeff carlisles got a camp for kid and adult musicians i wanna go !!!

  • Can anyone tell me what happened to them what's the real deal ?

  • the perfect song to listen to befor you get laid

  • this song brings back good times

  • the members in 38 Special back during Strength in Numbers was the best they ever had IMO. Any rock group with 2 drummers = total badass also...

  • 2 drummers!! Man I am totally stoked. This song is tight and crystal clear in sound. Hey guys, more west coast dates, please.

  • classic rock songs just don't get any better than this...a 1986(summer) hit from the guys from JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA(my hometown).

  • Amen, brother.

This group just keeps on rockin'.

The old stuff never sounds old. It always sounds fresh.

Even many great bands from the past --the music sounds old but never with .38 Special. Keep it going, guys.

  • yes...i never thought about it that way but your right...always sounds new

  • I remember being 14 years old and seeing this video on MTV (back when they ACTUALLY played VIDEOS) begged my mom for a ride to the record store and bought Strength in Numbers on cassette. I wore that bad boy OUT! LOL! Great memories. Thx for the post.

  • Thank you for the song link Kuhl Operator! You are awesome!

  • My Pleasure !

  • Superb Band, quality musicians and songwriters! Seen them many times, they deliver the music and show consistantly.

    RockON!

  • i liek there odler stuff

  • you need to learn how to spell!!!

  • That message was to you - Teadrinka

  • AWESOME

  • This was my song back in the day!!! You only get one night ! Still a good song

  • savagess18 dude i was there to i was 18

  • hell yea!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don Barnes was sooooo sexy back then!

  • saw them live at Montgomery, Alabama

  • Saw concert with Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Cash.

  • Love 38 Special but this song isn't one of their best and it reflects a move toward pop that wasn't there with the earlier stuff.

  • Saw these guys for the first time at a football stadium in Portsmouth Virginia. The concert lineup included Blackfoot,38Special,The Rossington Collins Band, and Molly Hatchet. The best southern rock concert ive ever been to.

  • I have been wearing out a vinyl lp copy of Strength in Numbers ,it is not my favorite 38 lp ,but it is a great mid 80s lp with allot of killer guitar work.

  • I love them!! Donnie looks so much like Ronnie! I'm hoping to see them in concert in July in St.louis.

  • first concert I went to. Golden Earring opened for 38 Special. 1983. I was 17. Hell of an intro. Amazing.

  • Everytime I listen to his band, time somehow goes slower.

  • I have seen 38 Special 3 times twice in Salisbury Maryland, and once in a semi outside concert at Maryweather Post Pavilion in Columbia Maryland with Van Halen, and Night Ranger.Talk about an awsome concert to remember!! When 38 sang "Caught Up In You" I remember my hair standing staight up.They sounded exactly like thier album. The sell out croud went crazy!

  • jeff carlisle takes off like a geetar playin banshee @ about 3:24 dude can play !

  • .38 Special Rocks their asses off!

  • they sure as hell do

  • The lead singer is Don Barnes. After the "Strength In Numbers" albumn, Don left the band for a period of time. I'm glad he's back with them. His voice is incredible!

  • greatest band ever

    favorites-

    Back where you belong

    same old Feeling

    Like no other Night

  • whoever does not like 38 special needs their head examined.they keep southern rock like it has been, truthfull and no negativities

  • i agree

  • not as good as their earlier stuff, but good nonetheless, thanks for the upload...

  • I never understood why needed two drummers.

  • Many a great southern rock act utilized two drummers... i.e. Outlaws, Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker etc. etc. Two drummers means a solid foundation for a reliable "backbone" of a "groove" and a "mirror image" beat that lands on time (consistently) all the time - laying down a "cornerstone" that is fundamentally accurate and precise as far as "landing on time" is concerned. It has a "straight forward" stance to it that is geared more towards the "mainstream" 4/4 time signature

  • dude .. did you read this someplace on the internet or is this your own theory ? .. I love it !! .. I copied this for my lil book of quotes .. you rock sir !

  • Thanks for the comps. I've always thought that this was a very good band "back in the day". Try finding the live version of the instrumental song "Robin Hood" by .38 Special. Very awesome stuff indeed - as Barnes and Carlisi certainly "bond" together on this track. Others include "Honky Tonk Nightime Dancer" and similar releases from that time period. Must be made available in this form of shared interests. The "mirror image" sound of two drummers "landing on time" has always had its appeal.

  • Caught up in you, and hold on loosley, and a night like no other night. The sound and the harmonies are fantastic one of the great bands no doubt

  • i like them too

  • I like them better with long hair and cans of Budweiser on the stage.

  • Dang - what a bunch of good-looking guys - after all that hair is gone ! lol

  • Man this is the good stuff............

  • That would be a dream come true!

  • What fantastic guitar riffs! I forgot how damn great the hooks this band had. Thanks!

  • They don't make music like this any more. Such a shame too. These guys rock!!!

  • oh thnx angel! 4got about this one! rock on sister lep! :)

  • jeff carlisle totally freaks on the guitar from 3:14 thru 3:43 the man can make an ax scream...

  • you got that right!! i wish music hadnt gone down the toilet.

  • Jeff Carlisi, but I get what you're saying. Underrated guitarist

  • bro , thats who i meant... jeffs great , i dont think that he's underated though man...

  • Brings back lots of memories!! Really love this band and the music they played!

  • you only get 1 life!

  • Brookins is pretty good on them drums i guess thats why he was the lead drummer.

  • great song i heard this song when i was like6 and then now im 14 and i finally heard it again

  • "You only get one life"--ain't that the sad truth!

  • I dont think so. Ask yourself no matter what position your in, whats so great about this one?

  • I have a lot of great things in life, kids for one. I hope things seem brighter for you soon, Charlie!

  • What an outstanding hidden gem from the '80s. This is the song that turned me on to them when I was 14. I soon found out after buying "Flashback" that they had several songs that I liked and was already familiar with but didn't realize it was them. Damn good stuff.

  • 38 Special was a great band. I wish there were more 38 Special postings. Thanks for posting this one. Southern rock is always a cool deal for me.

  • Wait... WAS a great band!?!? They still ARE a great band!! I just went to one of their concerts the other week and it was still amazing! :)

  • May be one of the best? They are the best Southern Rock bands. I have been a fan since High School.

  • Wow, Still love this shit!!

  • "They" censored (and removed) one of .38 Specials greatest songs (and others). The song I'm talking about is "Robin Hood". People are missing out on some of the best rock and roll ever assembled.

  • this song-caught up in you and back where you belong-did they have different lead singers? please help!!!

  • Don Barnes dude. Same singer. Donnie Van Zandt was also one of the lead vocalists but most of their hits were sung by Barnes.

  • thanks man...in their videos his apperance was always different

  • May be the best Southern Rock band ever. They have 2 drummers because it creates a unigue sound. I have been seeing them since 1978 and never get tired of hearing it.

  • Ah, this video makes me feel back to 80's. Great posting. Thanks.

  • I was one of the luck ones who got to meet the band and talk to each of them, for a hour!

  • WOW.............forgot how much I looooooved this song back in the day!!!

    Thanx for posting!!

  • Great song and great video.

  • WOW.....forgot about this song¡

  • Why the Hell is not my postive comments cumin up ???

  • yeah dude 38 specials so kick ass and i think they were like the left overs from lynyrd skynyrd they sound so diff tho but still one of the best bands ever!!!

  • This song is the best one i ever l heard!

  • kick ass

  • When music was MUSIC!!

  • wow!!!!! you are so cool llano!!

  • 38 special is so cool that hardlines4 loves it!

  • One of the best bands of the 80's, 90's and today. Totally awesome.

  • I could have sworn that there were wild horses in the original video. Is my memory playing tricks on me?

  • The wild horse are in the If I'd Been The One Video..I was just watching the other 38 Special videos and saw them...Another great song

  • DarkCloak got it right..they rock

  • no...my hair turned grey but it did not turn loose!!!!!

  • the 80's!!man i had my hair long and was rockin..2008 i think i've turned into my dad..but i am still rockin..great tune thanks for posting it

  • Saw them in 1986 with Ted Nugent. Great concert.

  • the allman brothers band had two drummers

  • Brookins Was the lead Drummer on this album and is one of the BEST EVER!!

  • Great song, but why the need for 2 drummers?

Please don't say it's a "southern Rock signature".

Skynyrd and Hatchet didn't have 2 drummers.

  • pretty sure abba uses 2 drummers

    just gives a stronger sound

  • Some of the most outstanding memories I've ever had come to mind whenever I hear this song.

FANTASTIC song, full of genuine fire and heartfelt spirit paired with a helluva uplifting message to boot. 38 Special will always rock and for me, the unforgettable summer of 1986 will never be forgotten.

My thanks goes out to 38 Special for a stellar contribution to the soundtrack of the best years of my life.

  • Beautiful Men and talent! Love the Vid!

  • I remember when this came out, anything that had 2 do w Skynyrd caught my ear ! Now its a classic too.

  • This is one of my all time favorites of 38 Special. I wish that I could had the chance to see these guys. I like to pester my sister-in-law since she likes lynrd Skynrd that 38 is better. She didn't know that Donnie Van Zant was in this band until I showed her and that he's a brother to the others. APRIL! I hope you see this. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

  • I saw these guys this summer and was just blown away, they still got it.

  • 1986...a great teenage year for me!

  • bone against steel is another one that hits home with me

  • The Byrds, but with a nice heavier sound. Either way..they sound great, and for me, a 25yr old favorite.

  • interesting... i had never thot of the byrds and these guys. but there are some common moves here. Bluebird comes to mind... oops

that's Buffalo Springfield. but yah, there is some great guitar work and vocals in both.

my band did some byrds covers decades ago when Buffalo S. and the byrds were new and old. fun stuff.

  • fav band of all time! and always will be!!!!

  • they sound so sickly sweet...bring back the greasy long hair and budweiser on the floor...

  • BROOKINS IS AWESOME ON THE DRUMS

  • Brilliant band

  • What A Awesome Song! I Remember This Song Growing Up! Good Stuff!

  • Their first album, "Wild Eyed Southern Boys", was the sheet when it came out. Hold on Losely, Fantasy Girl, Wild Eyed Southern Boys, three strong singles and the rest was pretty good as well. They cleaned up for this vidoe, as they had significantly more hair when they started out.

  • what a great 80's band, one of my favorites

  • DON BARNES IS THE MASTER

  • It's simply amazing. Talent that makes it look easy.Without a doubt one of America's greatest Rock bands. There music will be around forever and many young kids just like we did will,, make love to,, party to,, and just listen to there great great stuff. There music is a part of us all.

  • you got it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a great band

no wonder i liked them so much back in the day

  • they are the best band ever!!!

  • this video kicks ass 38 Special one of the best 80's rock!!

  • i loved this song when i first heard it in the 80's...and i still do!!!

  • Does anyone have the video for Somebody like you? That is, if 38 special did a video for it.

  • I am looking for this video as well. Surprised it's not on youtube somewhere!

  • They definitely did a video for that one.......I remember watching it on MTV when it first premiered! Just your basic concert video.........

  • Wow this is a trip down Memory Lane. Love that St. Blues Bluesmaster guitar. I'm glad to see them back in business. they made a great axe.

  • the best southern rock band...ever
