As great as this band proved to be, I'd say that the "sub bansheesque shite" that Dermot51 disparaged might have been a deliberate tribute/parody, since the song goes in other directions very fast, and also since GAOB were interested in making their mark however they needed to, and made that mark tout suite.
This is still a very emblematic recording for me for that era (circa 1979 / 1980). Amazing vocals, guitars and production. Exquisite ! Happily I still have the 7".
Very early Girls at our best, you notice it is a bit harder and rougher, very rough trade, shades of siouxie and the banshees. this band were just so good. the fact that they only made one album probably adds to their mystique
Ah, found it! This was my favourite GAOB, and I haven't heard it for years.
Used to whizz around Birmingham in an old 2CV with this sort of stuff blaring out from some seriously tinny speakers that I nailed to the frame under the seats, volume cranked up to 93 just so us in the car could hear the music over the din of the engine.
I've got this on vinyl too somewhere. I think there's a drawing of some women in a gents toilet on the sleeve? Anyway it's a fuckin brilliant song. The harmony parts are fantastic. Basic but very effective. Did they make an album then? I missed that.
god its terrible sub bansheesque shite worthy boring and such and to think i liked them as an impressionable teen then again i was a worthy and obnoxious cunt too then again politics wasnt a bad tune
the whole chorus on one note, beautiful!!!
one of the truly great bands of the eighties, I still have the pleasure sticker on my guitar

Had it on vinyl. This one reminds me of Dead Pop Stars by Altered Images.
