If you want to buy a blight resistent american chestnut go to oikos tree crops. I got a viva strain hybrid american chestnut and some timburr chestnuts they grow to 70 feet in 20 years and look identical to pure american chestnuts.
@MrMuncieman could you give me just a general location them like the street If it is a chestnut I could probably find it quickly when its in bloom thanks
I have a chestnut tree in my front yard first were like what the heck r these things then I step on one and it crack open and a chestnut was in it!!!! I live in Canada!!
Recently I was told by a man in the woodworking business that while he was re-roofing a house in Jim Thorpe, Pa, he observed a large American Chestnut growing in the area. Sometime in the near future I hope to go there and see for myself. The fellow that told me this is extremely knowledgable about trees.
I know of 2 that are mature and Healthy. They are 32'' chest high and the owner wants to cut them down. They are located in Starlight Pa. and I was wondering if I could send you some of the Chestnuts that it Shed's? email me at regalforestry@ gmail.com
