There is no substitute for raw cubic inches, even the dashboard on this car says I am a no nonsense car. Originals are so rare and pricey I could only hope for a recreation.
Also, by looking at the dash of this particular Cobra I can say it is spot on!, big points to you (the owner) for such a great car. I patterned my replica after an original Cobra's dash layout.
As a former owner of a 427 Cobra (replica) that I built myself. It had a 1970 Ford 429 state trooper engine, that cranked out 610 horsepower.
And having owned alot of muscle cars from the 60's, Hemi's, six packs, 442's among others. Yes the Cobra was fast and alot of fun. But if you did'nt pay attention things could go badly.
And another point, when I owned it, I asked people if they had to choose between a hopped up import or a Cobra, There was no question...Cobra was always the answer.
I dislike any engine under 8 cylinders or over 10. I hate all the smack rice rocket owners talk, like "Oh well this engine is only 1.3L but makes ___HP with the 15 grand worth of mods I put in it." Or V-12 owners: "This engine uses the most advanced technology available today to make sure it can stay on the road with it's 650HP" You know what I want? Something that can smoke anything with a few bolt-ons, that I don't need an engineering degree to understand or fix. That's the American way.
They quit making Cobras because people were dieing. Now that's some balls! Those cars were the real deal, most people can't drive them to their limits. One of my all time favs.
i just went to the wedding and this was their car..... but before the reception was over the owners son let me ride it..... the engine was LOUD and i could feel the ground and butt shaking.... it was the best butt massage ever.....
Sound is distinct,has the same sound as mustang in 'Bullit'also a 427,of course the Cobras were more powerful but you can hear they share the same lineage.
They says that the AC Cobra is the closest thing you can compare to the freedom of a Harley Davidson, maybe it's true, notheless, it's One, Hell, Of, A, Car!

If you ever drove or rode in a 427 Cobra, even a replica, you would have a different opinion. Scariest ride you'll ever have. Certainly not for the meek. Oh, and nobody is original anyway, you can track auto geneology back to the bicycle. It's who is successful at it that counts and for sheer hold-your-balls performance, you can't beat the Cobras.

the chassis was an A/C model. if it was powered with an A/C engine nobody would want to own one today. And because A/C was so slow at producing the cars Carroll Shelby decided to start his own car company through Ford.
i love riding in these i do everyday because my dad has one! a red one and its a 427 but he is selling in in 2 years so im pissed but hes bringing his shelby mustang back from new hampshire when he sells the cobra
