does it strobe? i want something like this with strobe feature and completely waterproof? maybe viridian? not sure but please help i need it for my g21sf. thanx and great video, shame the tl3 was crap.
@MrDaajman - from one who has it YES, THE TLR-2 *DOES* HAVE A STROBE FUNCTION AND YES, YOU CAN SET THE RED DOT SIGHT WHILE IT IS EITHER IN SPOTLIGHT OR SATROBE MODE. All lights can function separately or in conjunction with each other. I just set mine up a few days ago; I know of which I speak. This is DAMN good equipment! Even at $285 (my price) it was worth it; I am a P.I. and if it ever comes down to mne or him, I want to blind him WHILE putting that dot on him. PRICELESS!
Good video. Has anyone tried using epoxy glue on the TLR-3? I'm thinking that building up the sides of the bracket where it attaches to the rail might help make it much stronger. (either before or after it breaks) I'm guessing that epoxy is way stronger than the original polymer. Of course it shouldn't be necessary, but if you already own one its better than having it break.
@noBuzzkillin I agree. Actually, I didn't notice before, but I just noticed that one side of the bracket is made of metal! (probably aluminum) That is the side that doesn't break. I might re-enforce the polymer side with a thin piece of aluminum and/or epoxy glue if it ever breaks, or maybe even before.
I own a TLR-2s the strobe feature stopped working and there's very little information available on how the user programmable strobe enable/disable feature actual works. I think I may have turned the strobe feature off. The lack of information on this product is very disappointing.
The TLR-2 with stobe is juck , I had one new out of the package and it was defective with no return calls back from streamlight after 3 trys. Maybe just my luck but at over 300.00 each you would think streamlight would care about customer service.
@MrTaclight That sucks. My experience wasn't great in having my tlr3 reyruned, but not THAT bad. Calling and waiting for a call back is a losing strategy though. Call them back and keep the pressure on until you get a human.
Nice video. My tlr2 quit working. It was something with the laser. I sent it in and they fixed it. It has worked great ever since and we bought another one that has worked great. My laser grips on my other gun and the laser on my smith and wesson bodyguard .380 both have failed and needed to be repaired. I don't think I will ever fully trust laser sights but they are nice to have.
Nice review. I was considering putting a tlr2s at the 12oclock position on my ddm4 (I currently have a shurefire x300 on it now.) Is the laser good quality? Does the dot fade or expand significantly out past a hundred yards? This rifle is sort of my hobby rig and I'm trying to make it as idiot proof and feature-packed as possible but still keep it clean looking. My idea is to have the laser calibrated for long shots through the magnifier and the red-dot for more intimate moments.
@dsandwhich00 The laser seems to be fine quality. I wouldn't consider using it at 100 though. If you want to get out that far, I THINK a green laser is the way you want to go... check with the experts on that though man.
Thanks for your reply!! I was incorrect about the Streamlight...I do have the TLR-2s. The holster you have should work, but the only question remaining is whether there is an opening at the bottom of the holster that would allow an extended barrel like the Lone Wolf porter barrel to protrude through the holster. Worse case, I guess, is to go back to my original Glock stock barrel for competition matches.
I have a Glock 17 with the Streamlight TLR-3, and I love it!! The problem is I need a leg drop holster that will fit the Glock17 with the attached Streamlight. Is there a recommended holster for this configuration. BTW: I also have a Lone Wolf ported barrel. I assume I will need a holster that would allow a barrel extension to protrude out the bottom of the holster. Any ideas out there in terms of recommended holsters???? Thanks!
Did you try Safariland holsters? They make awesome holsters and pretty much custom to any pistol with a light, however I think most of them look at Surefire lights or the Streamlight TLR1/TLR2 lights. I hope this helps.
Nice comparison of the three. I have tried to imagine myself in a home defense situation ans whether I would use a light or not. If my eyes were adjusted I am not sure I would want to give away my position with a light. I really have not given this much thought just a knee jerk reaction really.
@ArtisanTony One word of advise brother, whichever way you go... BE SURE! haha. In all seriousness, I think its a matter of target identification more than anything. IMHO, if you can be 100% certain that there is a threat to your life or your family, and it is 100% verifiable, then sure, go with low light. Personally, I'm also concerned about some lawyer handing me my asshole and putting me in prison for the rest of my life, because I wasn't 100% SURE that my life was being threatened.
@noBuzzkillin Also, just because you use a light, doesn't necessarily mean you have to give away your position. From what I've seen, it's a matter of using momentary on and flashing the light on and off so that you are illuminating only select areas. Strobe helps too. I'm no expert, but I do know that if you are going to have a firearm in the house for HD, its worth being sure what your basic course of action is going to be in an emergency, and to run drills occasionally to illuminate problems.
@noBuzzkillin The legal issue is a little more relaxed in my state. If there is someone in your home and you feel your life or family is threatened you are not penalized for protecting them. I an still thinking though if I was an intruder and I saw a light pointed at me I would assume it was a firearm and take a shot at the light. I don't know, this is all speculation until unfortunately it happens. I am getting ready to take my ccw training soon and will see what the instructor thinks.
That’s a shame about the tlr-3. Looks like a good light, just seems like they need to make it a little more durable. I'm with you on the laser for home defense. Seems like it would be a great for quick acquisition in close quarters.
@talisman9000 I know there are many who dig that TLR-3, but I haven't heard the "I like it cause it's pretty" argument.. Haha. Just teasing. I know there are many who are perfectly happy with it.
good Review Thanks Bro" That "LC3 Laser On the TLR-2 or TLR-2s is Equal in Brightness" Compared to the "Lasermax Uni-Max" Great for Night Time Run and guns.

@MrDaajman I don't think the TLR-2 Strobes.. Cannot remember 100%. The Streamlight website has all of your answers.. ;)

TLR-2 does not strobe but the TLR-2s does strobe. The TLR-2s is about $15-20 more. Go to opticsplanet. they have great prices and great service.

@romansten9 I haven't heard of that yet. I think Streamlight just needs to make the mount points out of metal and be done with it.
