100,000 people have viewed this. Only four were idots to leave a negative rateing. This video is very helpful, as the Slow Stick directions are lacking. Truly greatful for the time and effort, MoJoHobbies, took to share his knowlege and time to post this video . . . . Thank you very much.
Thank you. this build did not stop me, but made me think twice before making my decision, and when willing and able to will one day get me my Slow stick, just not today. glad I stopped my purchase. but not upset. I will be flying a rc hobbyzone champ. to get me started again. , and tomorrow I will change my mind again. WInter is over, Spring is here. 150.00 for a full kit, 2.4 or 99.00 fm. I am sure I have those decisions to make. but Building is learning, and there is nothing like building.
I posted a video response because your instructions are much better and more accurate than the booklet. In the booklet, the brackets aren't the same order as yours and yours worked better for CG.
dose any one have any pointers as to why i keep on going through props, i think that i have to balance it because it is a but front heavy but as soon as i let the power out once i am close to the ground it dose a nose dive and breaks the prop 50% of the time
my god i built mine totally wrong. this is a great and helpful video. i didn't even know how to put the servo's or battery on and was going to just stick it anywhere without checking center of gravity.
Here's what you can do to gain more fun out of this 'stick: if you're an rc novice, then, just fly this kit straight from the box...if you crash it (and there's a good chance you will crash with lack of flying experience), then you wouldn't lose much; but, to gain the maximum fun, use everything from the kit EXCEPT the motor; go see your local hobby store clerk and have him sell you E-Flite motor stuff...they can be expensive, but, you can see the differences of both world...
Or, you can order a brushless motor from hobbyking in Hong Kong and pay much much less! you can get a brushless motor with a speed control and a prop for around $15.00 that will make the slow stick go vertical! then for $7.00 you can get a 11.1 vold 1300 milliamp lipo battery, people say the quality is bad, but I have been flying my brushless $15.00 combo for a year now with NO PROBLEMS, the shipping is what can be expensive but I share the order and split the cost.
Hi oculd someone be nice neough to tell me a good, suitable brushless engine and esc to use on the slowstick. something that will get it going, get it doing some nice aerobatics, but nothing that is OVERKILL. just hte typical brushless engine and esc. and is a 1300mah lipo good or what other battery should i use?
Hi I am using a BL from towerpro 2410-08 with 1047 prop. 1300 should be fine although I am usinf 2250/3S. It will basicaly effect your flight time. Chekc the videos I have posted and you will get a fair idea of how she flies with this power pack.
Hey Everyone, Thanks for the comments on the video...good to know most of you can use it to get your plane built. Finding where to get parts and electronics for the slow stick can be found in part #2. The video is fast, but at the time, YT had a 10 min rule. Google the net for a YouTube downloader and get yourself a copy you can play offline. Have fun - I plan to continue this series in the following months, plus I'll post some other stuff that is sure to please.
a little bit to fast for a foreigner, but good!imagine if you would get just 50cent´s for ever hit - this would end with an income for 3 months to live with.
Thanks for this. I built my slowstick last weekend, and still need to install the controls, this vid is really helpful for that, the instructions on mine are a little vague when it comes to what goes where, so this is really a big help, thank you!!
put a brushless motor and alerons and i goes fast my uncle did i was flying today ive never seen a slow stick go stright up and do a beral roll at the sme time!!!
i just built my first slow stick two weeks ago and took my plane up last weekend. wish i would have seen your video before building it. i could have saved at least 2hrs instead of using the instruction manual that came with it
Hey,great vid.I have a question, though: do u think i could possibly mount the electrics from an rc car to a plane that i would build? Cause it would be cheaper to "convert" a car into a plane, since i don't want to spend a lot and i have the car already. Funny idea, huh?
Always hear its so easy to build a SS but man does it look hard. A freakin Hacksaw??? Mine looks like it also needs some soldering done for the motor that came with it.
It Really Is Easy! I used the hacksaw to cut the motor shaft for the prop-saver...it's not necessary but it can save the motor too. We put one together with just a pair of pliers once...on the soldering, you could strip the wires back and twist them together...just be sure to use some electrical tape, Home Depot to the rescue.
Check out the Firebird Phantom, its a really great beginner plane for about $50, a lot less building & a lot more flying...thanks for the Kudos, more great vids coming soon.
Just to let you know, I am following every step of your great guides to build this awesome plane, I am a first time flier and your videos are so extremely fantastically helpful to me, I cant wait for part 4, thank you very much.
Hey, thats awesome...Your gonna love this hobby, there are so many cool planes in the future just waiting for you to fly, so don't give up. Learning to fly the Slow Stick will be an extremely fantastically rewarding accomplishment that you'll never forget...Whoa! that's some BIG words there. MJH
a longtime ago, i used to use a 2amp esc on a geared brushed 300, a 400mah ni-cd and some pico servos
