I suppose some people have a few kids and then realise too late: "oh the world is fucked and I just added three more little problems to this mess, time to get political". Overpopulation, arguably is the only real problem with humanity, everything else (ie war, greed, rape, materialism) is just part and parcel of existence. Anyone with "an IQ of 230" wouldn't be breeding unless they were pure evil; good musician, though.
@blacknganga hey smartpants defend yourself how has jaz bred humans answer or shut up and go back to your moms basement blasphemy do you know what that means answer the 2 questions or SHUT up hahahahahahahahhahaha equip.org
I think this song pretty much sums up the band. They haven't been the most successful of musicians. This single didn't even get into the billboard. But they're still fucking going because they have a message, belief and a truckload of anger. I think Jonny Rotten and Iggy Pop should take their cues from these guys x
@blacknganga I appreciate that but going into advertising sort of says 'oh I was young then. I'm not angry anymore. It was all about the attitude. It was a phase'. That kinda sucks. Still love the guy tho x
@KurtMcGowan Iggy hasn't gone heavily into advertising anything, really. Like Rotten selling butter, bit odd, but he IS a spent force. Ozzy Osbourne and his reality TV show, I find that very distasteful by comparison.
@blacknganga Yeh that's true actually. Its just so depressing to see such a guy in an advert after a lifetime of 'I'm not gonna let anyone fuck me over' etc etc. I guess that was just all talk. But yeah it could be a hell of a lot worse. Btw I'm not saying Iggy and Jonny still have to be doing the crazy shit they did when they were younger. I respect that they're old. But surely there's better ways to make money? At least Jonny's honest about what he does.
@KurtMcGowan I hate anarchist sentiments, they're all full of shit, Rottens sentiments included. Anarchy is often good in effect, but nothing is more woeful than "the theory of anarchism" etc. Rotten selling butter, typical! -anarchist one day, corporate flogging boy the next. Anarchy is like socialism, not a bad thing, but really there is only one system, the one by which an "ecologically minded" and spartan livig fascist takes over government and somehow takes a lot of money off wealthy people
@blacknganga The sex pistols admitted they weren't really anarchists. It's just a song. I guess they read about it, got really excited and wrote a song. I like how you steered the discussion to politics! I'm not sure what system to believe in. I need to read up more on anarchy but I like the idea of no leaders. Anything's gotta be better than the system you've just described and where it could possibly go.
@KurtMcGowan No leaders is good for rapists, pedophiles, alpha males, money greedy people, enviromental vandals, capitalists, etc. our "leaders" do important jobs on the international scene, and some of our leaders are shit(s). We all have our own little jobs to do, and I think "ideological anachists" are just deluded folk who have lost a lot of control of their own lives. The only way forward is one by which the "green fascist" and supporters strip the bourgeoisie and upper class aspirants...
@blacknganga Aren't most people in positions of power also alpha males, money greedy people, capitalists and occasional paedophiles? Crime only exists because we live in a society where it pays.
@KurtMcGowan crime will always exist and "will always pay", I'm simply saying that anarchy in ok in effect for a few individuals, but we have come far too far with science and the scorching of the earth for anarchy to be held up as any sort of "big picture solution"; us apes would simply annihilate everything through anarchy; control is what is needed; "the green fascist" or we have no future as a species, our children.
@blacknganga can you explain to me the 'green facist'? I know there are some fuckers out there who just want to hurt people but... there are so many other people who I feel their potentials are being shut off by poverty and there's nothing to help them and a lot of people are ok with that. x
@KurtMcGowan Well the Green fascist is to do with the concept that if everyone on earth was consuming as much as America, Japan Australia, Europe etc, there would be the equivalent of 200 billion consumers
@blacknganga Oh yeah I was tod about that. If everybody in China wanted a car, a fridge and a newspaper, there would be no trees or steel left in the world. Bloody scary thought O_O
"Need a plasma TV" You'll find that many don't need but want because the best ones are fucking awesome, high definition Killing Joke playing live in your lounge any time you want.. Yeah iphone or "i"anything is bollocks, there's better for cheaper. Many would say that a £10k Hi-Fi is materialistic, but to someone that truly loves music & wants to hear it as close to how the band intended, it's all good.

@sadhouse: Thank you for giving that sound a name. That way I know what to call that stuff that I could never stand because of its noisiness and lack of dynamics.
wat makes this so cool is that they are obviously a succesful band who today still do not subscribe to the false reality that money makes a huge difference, which of course it doesnt, just travel somewhere far away and look at the smiles on the faces of the poor.
@GetALife747 actually as someone who been to africa on mission work - children in africa who are stricken by disease poverty death all around are more joyous than spoiled rotten little american and european kids by far! They appreciate the smallest things unlike your typical kid in the states who screams and yells until mommy and daddy buys him what he wants!
@jsr1k why not? because you're all special individual snowflakes? fuck! thats why we left that fucking disaster of endless warfare, starvation, and nationalist bigotry.
no of course you're right, you (i.e. europeans 300 years ago) fucked off to a big country to rape burn and pillage its original inhabitants, and then u waited 80 years or so to amend the bill of rights and give black people the right to "freedom", you're colonised by the fucking bigoted europeans you arse
Possession is something really occidental. Possession means having a place in society, a lot of people needs fucking plasma tv, fucking I phone or other useless thing, which is sad .... but hopefully were not all like this, ive never screamed for something !
@beforethree Most people have screamed at somepoint in their life... I (like many other people) gave my first scream when a nurse held me upside down and slapped my arse just 30 seconds after i'd slopped out of my Mother's womb.
Awesome, thanks for posting this, reminded me of the most memorable gig I've ever been to when the album was released - it built up to such a climax it actually felt like the world was about to end! That's never happened to me before or since...
Simply an amazing unique band. I am a big fan of Faith No More, and you can see the influence Killing Joke has given bands of that nature. Brilliant.....
Ha! I was there in Chicago the night they filmed this, right in the front row! I still have Geordie's songlist that I pulled off the stage after the show. They were awesome to see live.
I guess i wasn't all the way right. After a little research, i found that people don't really know if they tried to sue Nirvana or not, but Killing Joke told Rolling Stone they weren't. I just said the other because that's what i heard originally.
You hear it for the first time (in 1990), and it's completely different from anything you've heard before. Well it's gotta be by somebody accomplished, who's done this kind of thing before, because it's so freaking advanced. Huh, it sounds a little bit like..., could it be...?
One off the best album they ever did i think,"extremities dirt and various repressed emotions". jaz,ive read, was going to sue nirvana for "come as you are" but kurt brought that action to an end by his demise.cant imagine Madonna covering this one can you?
He was not honoured. Cobain should just have given the credits for the riff.....Maybe it escaped all of you, but Dave Grohl admitted it 9the stolen riff) and played the drums on Killing Joke's 2003 album. GREAT Album! That's the way grown up man with a heart solve these things. period.
I used to have this video dubbed off on a VHS tape when it came out. It was followed by Napalm Death's - Mass Appeal Madness.....wicked combo. Watch the 2 back to back for a head rush.
For those of you who think this is Nirvana inspired music, this song was released in 1990, Radio shifter friendly unit was released in 1993. And money is not our God. One might say it is the route of all evil.
dude even after they were almost falling apart after Outside the Gates because Colman fired some members, they just explode with this energy in the 90s and songs like this show wat Killing Joke is all about!!!!!!!
Yeah, they're English. Saw them on Friday night in London - truly awesome! There are some vids of the Fri/Sat night posted on You Tube - type Kiling Joke Forum and they'll be up.
Killing Joke at their best in the nineties. Here they are with the Extremities album. Which by the way was released by Noise International (the same label that signed Celtic Frost, Voivod, Kreator, Rage, Coroner, and even Helloween/Gamma Ray). But anyway, I have everything that has to do with this album (Extremities boxset, Inside Extremities album, and shirt). The Joke will never die!!!!
BADASS riff!!

You hear it for the first time (in 1990), and it's completely different from anything you've heard before. Well it's gotta be by somebody accomplished, who's done this kind of thing before, because it's so freaking advanced. Huh, it sounds a little bit like..., could it be...?

One off the best album they ever did i think,"extremities dirt and various repressed emotions". jaz,ive read, was going to sue nirvana for "come as you are" but kurt brought that action to an end by his demise.cant imagine Madonna covering this one can you?
permaveg 3 years ago
hey permaveg, actually jaz was honored that kurt would take the guitar riff. at least jaz isn't a total jerk.
nIm0mIn 2 years ago 2
If he was honored, why did he sue Nirvana and dropped the charge after Cobain died?
InWaine 2 years ago
