@Raphilan "Strawberry Fields" was an orphanage John used to hang around when he was a kid. The song was written by both John and Paul (though mostly John), it's about their childhood. "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.", those lines are about a child's point of view.

I will tell you 'bout Martin's statement: he told them, that John never lived in that real world, he always wanted to be in a world full of dreams and piece. so he changed that military-place to such an idyllic one!

No, it's split. The film was in limbo for over a year because the director and producer were fighting about the creative goal the film would follow. One person wanted a more commercial vibe. The other wanted it more story driven. I think it's more commercial; as in just a series of music videos. The story could have been improved so much more and made you care about the characters. And that's what's lacking. The remake songs are great, though.
