I have always loved the John Coltrane and Derek Trucks version of this song. Now its badass that there is another great rendition of it by Jason Ricci and The New Blood
its, like jason is fu**in fantastic aint he,,,i mean little walter n all them old guys were great but jason is on another level really,,amazing,,jason is like the legend really.
actually that was my fault, i knew it but i should said it more clearly, its the JR(jason ricci)57, its the nickname that greg huemann gave it because he made it for jason
He focuses on playing rhythms rather than riffs, he follows chord changes, and he plays several different positions through the night....and he has put about a million hours into learning to play harmonica!
He has perfect timing. He started his solo slow and with melodic sequencing, then built it to rythmic sequencing to create tension. Timing is everything knowing when to create tension and advance your story is everything. And he proves you can tell a story on every instrument. Beautiful.
I personally enjoy Jason Ricci's rendition of Afro Blue more than John Coltrane's. :)

Jazz on a diatonic harp. Brilliant.

How the hell does Jason always keep his sound fresh and different without sounding like he is playing the same thing song after song?
