Those of you who are annoyed with DirectX probably have no clue what it is. I've personally created games that use DirectX; DirectX makes it much more simple to create games. And with Windows Vista, DirectX 10 simply pulls graphics to the point where they're simply plain awesome. I can't argue that Windows has better graphics than Mas OS. I'm simply trying to say that DirectX is great relative to all the other game development libraries available for Windows games (XNA, OpenGL, etc.).
If I recall, you also need software to play games on Windows as well. It's that crappy thing you guys call Direct X. It's not built into the core of Windows and is a horrible program, but you all have to download it to play games.
DirectX is pretty much comparable to any other api out there, it comes with windows, and occasionally needs updating when a new generation of graphics cards comes out to use the new features, just like any other api. Stop being retarded.

I didn't say the performance is any different, I said that DirectX takes more resources to accomplish the same thing. An Nvidia 7300 would be able to do more on a Mac than an Nvidia 8800 on a PC simply because of this.

I am considering getting a new computer with vista ultimate or premium. Gaming is better in DirectX 10, as all new games are to be realsed in that format. As for openGL, who gives a shit, no one uses macs for gaming platforms. Pop in some more RAM or read my computer speed guide if you want your windows faster then?
I know all too well how to speed up Windows XP, I had to when it was my only OS. As for gaming, sorry, but gaming is best on OpenGL. Why? Because EVERY video card supports OpenGL, only a few support DirectX. Not only that but OpenGL is designed to do more with less. That's why I can install Ubuntu on a five year old Laptop and make it look better than Vista because DirectX makes Vista require a powerful video card.
Mac's don't cost more. If you take any comparative Dell or HP you'll find that they are actually more expensive than the Mac (I have done this test for both low end Mac's and even the high end Macbook Pro). So the saying that Mac's are more expensive is false.
I have done a test as well, with the mac site and dell site, similar specs and the pc computer cost $5k and, unsuprisingly the mac hit $7.5k. Also more companies use 3ds Max as its rendering and animations are more smoother, popular games such as world of warcraft and battlefield 2 were made both using 3ds max.
Not to bash WoW, but its graphics aren't the best out there. Also, I'd love to see your tests because I can almost guarantee that you're leaving out certain features in the Mac. Also, you'd have to make the PC use Vista Ultimate since that's the only version of Vista that's even remotely as feature-packed as OS X.
I know the graphics of WoW are crap, but I am not sure what Lord of the Rings Online graphics were made with but they are pretty good and whatever can produce those graphics is pretty good. If I included certain features in the Mac, you would be looking for a higher price. Vista ultimate hasn't much more features than vista premium. Also, out of interest, have you used vista?
I have not used Vista, but, considering it's Windows I really believe all of the problems I've been hearing about it. Also, I trust Lockergome on what he says about it (he's a former Microsoft Most Valued Professional, that's his Youtube user name). But even if Ultimate doesn't have many more features than Professional, it still has more features and needs to be that version to be compared to Mac OS X.
Well, from what i've seen and read, vista has a lot more features than XP, even though I prefer either, some notably such as using your xbox controller to play games on your pc, the one I mentioned earlier and the others on the vista site. I think they might've rushed vista a little but are working on the fixes. I know someone with vista and he hasnt had any problems.

Mac OS X has features even down to some of the most pointless ones (like there's a program called Comic Life that'll let you make comic books...). But as an example there's iMovie (better than many pay-to-use video editors). Garageband (again, better than many pay-to-use programs), and junk like that. Stuff that just makes sense to have in the modern world. Plus it's stable, can't get virus' and is easy to use, yet also it's very powerful.

No OS is 100% safe, you're right. And yes there are anti-virus' for Mac OS X. But they're not because we can get virus', they're because we can sometime send mail out with virus' that can hurt our Windows using friends. But for the past 17 years, no one's been able to break the Unix defense, so it's safe to say that Mac's and Linux cannot be infected by a virus. Though there are still worms (extremely hard to get, so many manual steps) and Trojans.
Yes, I am aware of the Unix defense, but as you should know there are a lot of hackers working on how to get through with some attempts that have went quite well compared to how hard it is to get through. If that does happen and the information spreads, Mac could be showered with many angry people using other OS's, such as people that purely hate Macs.

Linux is used for more than servers. It's powerful. And as I said, that's why Hollywood uses it in over 80% of their computers to do professional movie editing and post production. Windows only has gaming on its side and even that's questionable since all Unix-based OSs have WIne, Crossover and Cedega which allow us to run Windows programs natively (albeit without all those virus' you guys are so fond of).
Linux and Mac OS X also have programming on their side, and game production. You comment says nothing. Actually, programmer's are seeing a better opportunity to program for Mac OS X. The market's open for them. As for gaming, I said enough as it is. Nearly any game on a PC (and all of the major games apply to this) can be played on a Mac or Linux computer.
Ubuntu is more polished than vista atm, but future updates will improve performance. Again, why were mac programs made on windows?
They do not need to program on a mac, as it is pointless. As a windows is more cheaper and 3d design programs, one I use myself, 3ds max 9, is not yet configured for mac. Even though there are rumours they may release a version for mac, they are probably made by mac users to make mac sound like its gaining popularity.
Most Mac programs were made either on Linux or Mac OS X. Apple released a free programming suite to allow people to program. Mac's have Maya (or however it's spelled) for 3D animation.
Also to mention the many advertisements made on 3ds max, such as if I remember, the mazda advertisement featuring the words Zoom-Zoom on a birdseye view of a road with a car driving on it and many others, there is a 3ds max advertisement compilation on youtube.
Mac OS X is naturally fast, we don't need a speed guide. As for Linux, there's a reason why Hollywood uses it as their main OS, because it's the fastest OS around. Windows is slow and needs to be tuned to even be usable.

mac is a type of computer. that type of computer has a program called Bootcamp. bootcamp lets you install windows on a mac. osx and windows VS just windows. you decide.
While you CAN install osx on a pc, it is very unstable and unpractical. i have tried it and had much difficulties using it.

Mac's don't cost more. If you take any comparative Dell or HP you'll find that they are actually more expensive than the Mac (I have done this test for both low end Mac's and even the high end Macbook Pro). So the saying that Mac's are more expensive is false.

I have done a test as well, with the mac site and dell site, similar specs and the pc computer cost $5k and, unsuprisingly the mac hit $7.5k. Also more companies use 3ds Max as its rendering and animations are more smoother, popular games such as world of warcraft and battlefield 2 were made both using 3ds max.

Not to bash WoW, but its graphics aren't the best out there. Also, I'd love to see your tests because I can almost guarantee that you're leaving out certain features in the Mac. Also, you'd have to make the PC use Vista Ultimate since that's the only version of Vista that's even remotely as feature-packed as OS X.

I know the graphics of WoW are crap, but I am not sure what Lord of the Rings Online graphics were made with but they are pretty good and whatever can produce those graphics is pretty good. If I included certain features in the Mac, you would be looking for a higher price. Vista ultimate hasn't much more features than vista premium. Also, out of interest, have you used vista?

I have not used Vista, but, considering it's Windows I really believe all of the problems I've been hearing about it. Also, I trust Lockergome on what he says about it (he's a former Microsoft Most Valued Professional, that's his Youtube user name). But even if Ultimate doesn't have many more features than Professional, it still has more features and needs to be that version to be compared to Mac OS X.

Well, from what i've seen and read, vista has a lot more features than XP, even though I prefer either, some notably such as using your xbox controller to play games on your pc, the one I mentioned earlier and the others on the vista site. I think they might've rushed vista a little but are working on the fixes. I know someone with vista and he hasnt had any problems.

I know many people with Vista that have had dozens of problems. And yes Vista has more features than XP, but Mac OS X has more features than both (as well as Ubuntu). As for Vista, yeah, it was rushed after 5 years of development... Well, Microsoft has even said that it's not ready for consumer's. I guess they just wanted to make a quick-buck before Service Pack 1.

Mac OS X has features even down to some of the most pointless ones (like there's a program called Comic Life that'll let you make comic books...). But as an example there's iMovie (better than many pay-to-use video editors). Garageband (again, better than many pay-to-use programs), and junk like that. Stuff that just makes sense to have in the modern world. Plus it's stable, can't get virus' and is easy to use, yet also it's very powerful.

No OS is 100% safe, you're right. And yes there are anti-virus' for Mac OS X. But they're not because we can get virus', they're because we can sometime send mail out with virus' that can hurt our Windows using friends. But for the past 17 years, no one's been able to break the Unix defense, so it's safe to say that Mac's and Linux cannot be infected by a virus. Though there are still worms (extremely hard to get, so many manual steps) and Trojans.

Yes, I am aware of the Unix defense, but as you should know there are a lot of hackers working on how to get through with some attempts that have went quite well compared to how hard it is to get through. If that does happen and the information spreads, Mac could be showered with many angry people using other OS's, such as people that purely hate Macs.

They can get viruses, it is just no one writes viruses for them as they could attack a much wider base if they write it against windows. If Mac OS was the number one selling operating system, then you could be assured that there would be more viruses for that than for Windows.

Linux is used for more than servers. It's powerful. And as I said, that's why Hollywood uses it in over 80% of their computers to do professional movie editing and post production. Windows only has gaming on its side and even that's questionable since all Unix-based OSs have WIne, Crossover and Cedega which allow us to run Windows programs natively (albeit without all those virus' you guys are so fond of).

The market's open for them. As for gaming, I said enough as it is. Nearly any game on a PC (and all of the major games apply to this) can be played on a Mac or Linux computer.

They do not need to program on a mac, as it is pointless. As a windows is more cheaper and 3d design programs, one I use myself, 3ds max 9, is not yet configured for mac. Even though there are rumours they may release a version for mac, they are probably made by mac users to make mac sound like its gaining popularity.

Most Mac programs were made either on Linux or Mac OS X. Apple released a free programming suite to allow people to program. Mac's have Maya (or however it's spelled) for 3D animation.

Mac OS X is naturally fast, we don't need a speed guide. As for Linux, there's a reason why Hollywood uses it as their main OS, because it's the fastest OS around. Windows is slow and needs to be tuned to even be usable.

mac is a type of computer. that type of computer has a program called Bootcamp. bootcamp lets you install windows on a mac. osx and windows VS just windows. you decide.
While you CAN install osx on a pc, it is very unstable and unpractical. i have tried it and had much difficulties using it.
of the two, however, i would pick a homemade PC with linux.

When you get to the section with the Dashboard Widgets its incorrect. Microsoft's windows had that first with programs like Konfabulator which was around in 2003 way before dashboard even existed. How has windows copied anything from mac, windows basically created the first home operating system which anyone could use.
