Well said Craig , Remember 1in 4 Americans have goid Scottish blood in them . All the way from Darroch way in our home town Cumbernauld ( Janice, your sister, was in my class at School
Proud o ye Craig, 100% right The USAs declaration was based on the Arbroath Declaration of Independence, thanks to those founding fathers who came from Scotland. Let’s not forget the Alamo, where by far the majority that gave their lives for the USA were Scottish. Wid’ne have expected anything less from a Cumbernauld man. Freedom!!!!
God Bless Craig And God Bless America, P.S. Craig needs to do that speech out here in California, Where some crazy America hating hippie freaks(not regular hippies) seem to refute everything Craig just said.
look at the faces of the women in the crowd: they all love him! there's just something pretty darn irresistable about this man, to women of all ages... so guys take note! ;)
this is awesome . i did a research in school about the scottish independence . and watching craig FERGUSON reading the quote in the declaration of arbroath reminded me that the original copy of the declaration was lost, but the copy and the english translation was created by the keeper of records of scotland, sir james FERGUSON . both from the ferguson clan .
I saw Craig doing stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival about 1987.Nobody could have imagined that he would be in this position today.
He's a bit inaccurate with his history however. The Americans revolutionaries were not fighting the English in 1776 but the British.Scotland and England having formed the United Kingdom in 1707.There would have been Scots on both sides. We now tend to see the past through Mel Gibson's eyes and blame the English for everything.
oh don't try to be so correct. we fought the english in the sense that the english were the policy makers. it's not through "mel gibson's eyes." the fact is that george and his cronies decided to send all their soldiers to fight the colonists. it's not like the scots and the welsh and irish wanted the war. it was the english royals whos friends were getting tarred and feathered who wanted it. when the colonists started acting on their own and flying in the face of ENGLISH policy, war began.
whos we? you just said you are irish, french, and scottish. if thats your ancestry, say its your ancestry cause i dont know what country youre talking about when you say we.
Many Americans forget the kind of oppression our ancestors went through to get to America. Some of us were exiled to America and if not born of noble blood we were not given the priveledges of those who were.
Thanks for sharing this with us all, darling! Craig did a gorgeous job with his speech. I really loved his heartfelt words and the way he presented himself. He really is a down-to-earth man full of pride and loyalty for both America and Scotland. It's a beautiful thing to see gratitude and love in a man's eyes. It was truly inspiring. I, too am proud to be American and of Scottish descent. God Bless America and Scotland! :)
actually, i found out this declaration exists only some time ago, and thought it's beautiful. and then, you upload this... CRAIG READING IT... god, tons of love for you... and craig. love ya. forever.
Haha looks like he was a bit sleepy at the beginning: he kept rubbing his eyes and he wasn't sure what time of the day it was LOL. Anyway he's inspiring great to watch kindda makes me wanna become American.
Thanks for posting this. I love the line 'we celebrate our history but are not slaves to it', and reading the Declaration of Arbroath at the end, wow.

Sooner or later America always does the right thing? You've got to be kidding, Craig. You simply forget fast and just don't think about the people that were affected by America's blunders.

You speak as if it happened last week. And we were conquered by the French and the Romans but you don't hear us bitching about it.
