  • You should look into getting this roll remade. There are a few folks across the USA & around the world who remake instead of simply "repairing" rolls. The fellow who remade a few of ours has passed away, but perhaps you can contact QRS or do an internet search (as I just did & found plenty of helpful sites) to find help. Remaking the rolls is not as hard as you'd think, you just need the right tools & patience; heapin' helpings of patience. Good luck & thanks for sharing this musical gem.

  • How do you find these rolls anyway?

  • that is very smart and awsome

  • im through with takeing falls im bounceing off the walls, with out that gun id have some fun and kick you in the....nose, "nose that dont ryme with walls"

  • a loony tunes marathon is on (cartoon network) and my tv was muted and the theme came on the cc read "the merry go round broke down plays" durring the theme and i started thinking youtube! its gotta be on youtube...and it was.

  • Where can I get the sheet music for this freakin awesome piece?

  • I think Sylvester is the one who broke it.

  • Sprint to the sky. Fly balloon, not too large, but just enough to hold 50 small parachutes on the long tether. Be in nil wind. Then rapidly with this tune, climb up the tether faster than the chutes come down. See if you can get off the ground! For how long can you be airborne? As soon as you stop climbing the rope, even though the music is going, you will be parachuted back down to the ground.

  • Obama is on another bus tour, time to bring this music out for those who watch the bus go by

  • @ralahinn1 You really are a disturbed person to bring politics into the comments to a PIayer Piano roll performance. Go vent elsewhere... Jeez! Some people really HAVE no life.

  • @musicom67 the bus will also have hydraulics so it can bounce left to right with the rhythm

  • @bass0129 I hope that previous commenter's 'special' bus bounces left and right with the rhythm - and hopefully gets a blowout and careens off a cliff -Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! (signed, Daffy Duck)

  • @Bartleby317 Erm, next time, you can press the word that says "Reply" next to a comment.

  • My name is Daffy Duck! I work on the merry-go-round! The job was swell, I did quite well, Till the merry-go-rond brpke down! Woohoo!Wohoo!Wohoo hoo hoo woo ho! The guy that worked with me Was a horse with a lavender eye! Around in twirls, we winked at girls, Till the merry-go-round broke down! Up, and down, and round it we sped! The dizzy pace, soon went to my head! So, now you know why I'm dizzy! And do the things I do! I'm a screw, And you'd be too, If the merry-go-round boke down!
  • What's wrong with it

the roll looks fine and it sounds terrific

  • i would love to hear this in a tavern

  • Love that the words are all on the roll, but backward, so that as the page scrolls down, the words come up ... it's like a forerunner of karaoke!

  • Th-Th-That's all folks

  • 0:20 is the looney tunes

  • What a looney selection for a band of reprobates.

  • no pain (smash) no pain (smash) no pain

THIS SONG ALWAYS MAKES ME THINK OF ROGER RABBIT

  • Thabeda Thabeda That's all, folks!

  • I love this - I want this roll! :D I have a 1926 Weydig--it's run by foot pedals though- a real workout! :D

  • That's one long piece of paper.

  • If you ask me, it sounds pretty good. The discordant notes make it sound all the more looney.

    ^.^

  • You are right. This is the Looney Tunes theme. Many people think "Merrily We Roll Along" is the Looney Tunes theme, but that's actually the Merrie Melodies theme.

  • When I was a kid I thought player pianos were awesome. This video is fascinating.

  • What is the difference between a Looney Tune and a Merry Melody ?

  • @bartov Merrie Melodies*

Looney Tunes (note that both cartoon series are PLURAL, so TUNES as in more than one tune, and MELODIES, more than one melody) came first, being released in 1930, and Merrie Melodies was created and released approximately a year later in 1931

  • @bartov Looney Tunes make the sides hurt with laughter and Merry Melodies make you bust a gut. Sometimes it's the other way around, hence the merry-go-round...

  • @bartov

Looney Tunes had the regular stars. Notice that the most of the Looney Tune releases of the 1930s starred Bosko, Buddy, or Porky Pig.

Merrie Molodies for the most part were one-shot cartoons, althought the 1st cartoons from this series had short-lived characters like Goofy Gear & Foxy & in the late 1930s when Egghead, Daffy Duck & the Bugs Bunny phototype made special appearces in this series.

  • After 1940, this difference began to go away after Bugs Bunny became the Looney Tunes' superstar. They decided to keep him in the color Merrie Molodies, rather than move him to the B&W Lonney Tunes. Then in 1941, they started having one-shot Looney Tune releases. The following year, they started making some LT shorts in color, with the series moving paramountly into color by 1944. Afterwards, there was no difference between the series.

  • @dwoodard78 I thought Warner brothers made them popular when they started the series in the 90's i think i didn't know loony toons were out that early! O:

  • @katieducky23 looney tunes been out for a longass time.

  • @katieducky23 1933 was when Porky Pig, the oldest of them, made his first appearance, and the Looney Tunes have been going strong ever since.

  • That's All Folks!

  • My name is daffy duck, I worked on a merry-go-round! The job was swell, it paid quite well, until the merry-go-round broke down! WOHOO! WOOHOO! WOOWOO WOOHOO!!!! The guy that worked with me was a horse with a lavender eye! Around in wirls, we'd wink at girls until the merry-go-round broke down! Around, and round in circles we sped! The dizzy pace went straight to my head! Now you know why I'm dizzy, and do the things I do! I am a screw, and you'd be too if the merry-go-round broke down!

  • @NUTCASE71733 Yes the Merry-Go-Round BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE down.

  • How about Merry We Roll Along?

  • ssshhaavveeeeeee aanndddddddddddddd a hhaaaiirrrrrccccuutttttttttt.

  • Oh, the merry-go-round broke down

As we went 'round and 'round

    Each time 'twould miss

    We'd steal a kiss

    While the merry-go-round broke down

    Oh, the merry-go-round broke down

But you don't see me frown,

Ev'rything is fine and now she's mine

    'Cause the merry-go-round broke down.

  • Quite a loony selection for a bunch of drunken retrobates.

  • @Mysterious0Bob which was how a lot found out the name of this particular song

  • @toadenk actually i was referring to the the description, the music isn't in perfect condition and you can hear some of the flaws.

  • @NavajaRojo7

I suppose if I knew what I was listening for I could hear more flaws, but since I don't I'm happy with it :)

  • awesome thanx for posting this

  • I wish I could find *good* free sheet music to play / learn this song... Google has been failing me lately.

  • "um pah pah" that's when you can tell it's been damaged

  • @NavajaRojo7 lol your talking about the marry-go round right

  • Damaged or not.. plays great! =)

  • My Buddys Eddie V a sourpuss he be.

  • "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" is just a euphemism for whoopie.

  • @BabiesAndRazorBlades what exactly is whoopie?

  • @er10b "make whoopie" - celebrate noisily, often indulging in drinking; engage in uproarious festivities. Goggle does wonders.
