  • fladsfjlaksdfjlkjlkJLKjwohwohwowhQWWOWOWHHHOOOOOO your that guy who made those videos for indymogul that i really liked. glad i found you

  • Any tips on finding a hood that won't produce a vignette effect on my footage? It's hard to find a big hood for my 37mm threads, most hoods I've tried all have a vignette effect when I'm fully zoomed out. Not only that it's hard to find a rectangle hood it seems.

  • @Metzgermeist You could always look into making your own with some black foam board, or investing in a pro version. When zoomed out wide, I have just 'flagged the flare by holding a black foamboard in place.

  • SHOW US HOW TO MAKE THAT CONCRETE BLOCK IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!

  • I'm doing great! Thanks for asking man.

  • You are out of focus!

  • my lens size (diameter is 58mm) which size hood do i need?

  • @SpyderBlackLives take a look at the specs of your lens to be sure the "filter size" is 58mm if so, you could get a 58mm hood. Or do what I show here and pick up a step up ring (58mm to 77mm ring) and then get a 77mm hood.

  • I bought two of these rubber hoods about 6 months ago, and one fell apart! I'm done with rubber hoods, I'm going to pick up a 120 hood to take it's place on my 50mm 1.8.

  • @blickblocks interesting, did the rubber degrade, or the hood fall off the ring?

  • @Knoptop The living hinges wore out. I'm an industrial designer, so I was actually quite surprised. On a living hinge all the molecules are oriented the same way, which usually means they are the strongest part of a product with them. It's unlikely that a living hinge fails, and if it does it points to poor material or faulty production. I'm off to the store to buy a hard hood today.

  • Hey mate. As of 4 days ago, I'm the proud new owner of a T2i, got the twin lens kit (Canon) 18 - 55mm, 55 - 250mm, if I don't want to get the step-up ring, what size lens hood would you suggest? I'm guessing 58mm?

  • I'm about to get one for my T3i but I'm wondering if I'll be able to use it with a 50mm 1.8 since the focus is on the tip of the lens and so thin. Also I don't really understand what the step up ring does.

  • @Raabamillo The 'step up' ring is an accessory that allows filters and lens hood to be attached to a larger or smaller filter thread. Example: your lens is a 50mm BUT the actual "filter" thread ( front part of the lens) is likely 52mm. The step up ring will allow for a 76mm filter to be attached to a 52mm thread. (step up/step down). Different lenses have different filter thread sizes. Step rings are a cheap way to attach one hood/ and filters to multiple lenses. Hope this helped.

  • @Knoptop Great, thanks. Ordered both.

  • where can i get one? just got T3i need it bad i film in the hood all the time, my lens needs a hoodie!!!!!

  • @peaklevel1 i have a link in the video description

  • isnt you camera a t2i?

  • @tommyking253 yep! this lens hood will work on any camera tho. i figure the t3i is searched more, since it's the newer of the two camera's ;)

  • Been looking for this too! DOPE! THX

  • I recently bought Canon T3i & I want to put my "camera on hood" haha..but my question is, do I have to get the step-up ring to use the rubber hood? Thanks

  • @Mrs16Vo The step up ring option is only needed if you have different sized lenses you plan to attach the hood to. Otherwise, you can get the exact size and it will attach directly onto your lens.

  • @Knoptop Thank You so much for the info!!

  • WHY ARE SUCH LIKE JACK BLACK?? i've jsut looked through a few of your vids reckon you could do a jack black impression?? just for me? :D

  • Dave,

Awesome call...I just got mine in the mail. I can't believe how cheap they were.

    Thanks,

    J

  • Will this work for a Canon 600D with a 18-55 mm lens?

  • @bg365247 This design is customizable to fit just about any camera & lens combo. The way it attaches may need modified tho. 2 velcro straps attached the the container wrapping around the back of the lcd screen should hold it securely.

  • @Knoptop Ok... so apparently even though I have an 18-55mm lens I need a 58mm setup. No biggie. I just reordered in the 58mm. I also got a couple other things for a good price thanks. Should this correct the problem?

  • Great! thanks a lot

  • How can I get 1?? I have a canon 60D with 18-135mm lens do you think I can't use one for that? And how do I order one? Pls help?

  • @TheChaliWorld I have a link in the description of this video. And you can surf the web for other brands. I will say, with the 18-135mm, you will catch some of the lens hood in the shot (wide at 18mm) purchase a step up ring and get the largest hood you can to help reduce this. hope this helps!

  • I got a 58mm for my T2i Kit Lens.... I basically needed to stay zoomed in all the way to use it, otherwise I would see the hood around all the edges. Perhaps getting a larger one with the step-up ring like you have would eliminate that problem?

  • @JordanCrowderFilms Yeah, I've recently upgraded my lens to a 17-50mm and I ran into the same problem. It's still better then lugging around a huge rig with a matte box tho.

  • I got a 77mm rubber lens hood with adapter after I saw this, and after testing it out today (just got it), and it's pretty safe to say that you should be careful when trying to film in a wide (around 18mm) because the lens hood begins to be seen inside.

  • @zhatdude ah yes! I don't have a lens that wide, but I can see how that would be a problem. You could always trim a little off the end with scissors until it's out of frame maybe?

  • @Knoptop You didn't get the body and lens kit for the T2i? Just the body? It's because the kit lens is an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 . I suppose I can trim it off, but that would ruin the lens hood. Yeah, it will still serve the purpose of blocking sun, but it will not work as good if I wanted to use it with my 70-300mm lens. I think I will just buy another rubber lens hood with a 58mm thread. Thanks though!

  • Great Tip!

  • Cool tip...Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Great tip, mate. I didn't know about those rubber matte box. It wouldn't replace the filter slider a regular box offers but, it's cheaper. Thanks!

  • and you used my freakin video!!! :D

  • HAHA! actually yes...I did have a recent DUI. court date soon. :(

  • this is really good, to get something like this for only £2.50, is amazingly good, usually just because what it is, it would be like £200, im going to buy one now, even though i havnt bought my dslr yet, do you know if this would fit the canon 7d, t2i or nikon d7000?

  • LOL, Knoptop press the red CC and the transcribe audio and pause at 4:42 and look what is says

  • @RedRaZorFilms THE DEVIL

  • C'mon man!

  • Could you provide the link to this specific lens hood?

  • @noobontouR1337 I put some info in the description on the name to search for. (check ebay or amazon)

  • Not a bad idea at all, where can i aquire one?

  • @qdog1342 (info in the description)

  • @Knoptop whoops, didn't see the description on my phone

  • @qdog1342 (actually i just added it after your request :)

  • what lens is that?

  • @IAmTheFarmer Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6

  • yay. 1st.
