  • I remember growing up on Crystal Beach. I've heard enough stories about the legendary Cyclone coaster that it made my mouth water! However, The Comet was a welcomed replacement. One day, I'll take my kids to Lake George to enjoy it themselves.

  • What a place. A great place to be with friends and family. One of the most exciting things I could do as a kid. Go to Crystal Beach...."It's a short drive, but a long swim. Go to Crystal Beach"!

  • This park would still be around today had the owners kept the park up with the times of the late 80s (Canada's Wonderland, Darien Lake, and even Maple Leaf Village were cleaner, more advanced, and fun). The last few years of the park really showed it's age and the staff had no enthusiasm, there was never a new ride or one of the coasters would be shut down - I think the yellow coaster was shut down for an entire summer if I remember correctly.

How can we watch this movie?.

  • Oh, I remember when I was 8 yrs old and my mom dropping my brothers and I off at the ferry in Buffalo and we would spend the day there and take the last ferry ride back. That was in 1958. Growing up in Buffalo, NY was great in the summertime. Crystal Beach days for me started when I was about 3 and continued till it closed.

  • I could go on..but thankyou to all of you who have posted the then and now film and stills here...thank you!!!

  • The night when I became a teenager..going to the starlight ballroom to my first dance..the big ball in the ceiling going round and roung throwing lights all over...Frankie Avalon appearing and me squirming my way up to the front in time for him to look down at me as he was singing and point to me singing "your kind of naughty but your naughty and nice" thats part of the song..for you folks who don't remember..but..I don't think I passed out..I may have swooned a bit and still do thinking back.

  • I remember also going over to the Point Abino lighthouse and looking back and seeing the "sleeping lady" they called the roller coaster..on the off season. The smells of popcorn ... cotton candy...and the taste of the light golden brown crispy belgium waffles sprinkled with powdered sugar..mmmm..The wonderful sounds of laughter and excitement all over..Knocking down coke bottles and getting the prize to take home to mom..who did not know where you where the whole time...

  • This is the best...but it is great that there are a few archives from the Crystal Beach era.. I also remember vividly Crystal Beach...as I lived close by..spent quite a bit of time there..and each time..like the man said..getting butterflys before going in...always..no matter how many times we went..I was always excited for more..and yes..the suckers..mmmmm...I can still taste the butterscotch and cinnamon suckers..looking over the lake as you went on the roller coaster...

  • It was a fun park as a child and growing up being Canadian.

  • Thank you WNED TV, And yes as a Canadian I can't think of anything else that was shared so loviingly between two Countries. Boy do I miss those days. And my greatest saddness, is that I couldnt bring my kids to a park that was so much family fun !!! Cheers to remembering Crystal Beach. xoxox
