I heard this once before some years ago. It's still beautiful.. Bunch of sick comments hare. 1500 people died on that ship. Maybe that means nothing to some of these f***ers
@ianobey11 That is because it was blown in Minneapolis many years ago at the Titanic exhibit. It was in front of thousands of people and I was fortunate enough to hear it. However they used compressed air and not steam due to the fear it would shatter. The scream you heard was the crowd applauding.
Technically blowing it with compressed air isn't really an accurate example of how it originally sounded. it was designed to be blown with STEAM. steam is denser than air. so it's sort of like a helium effect. should really be deeper.
@Karagianis Yes. And steam also heats the chambers causing the sound to become richer and deeper as the blast continues. There is another YouTube posting of the Mauretania's whistle being blown on a low-pressure steam system at a factory where it was reused after the ship was scrapped. This is the same type of whistle, though the Titanic's was bigger and tuned deeper. The sound is closer to what the Titanic whistle would sound like, but less pressure.
@Tl81293 In the legalese of the Rules of the Road(both Inland & International),they are whistles. However, most people call them "horns".One weekend boater was trying to tell me that my whistle light was stuck on but kept calling it a "horn light" so I was motoring downriver wondering "WTF is this guy talking about?" It wasn't until end of watch that I realized it & sent the leadman up on the roof to fix it.
@kalebsthebest67 Well, yea, because that's what the whistle sounded like...
However, they recovered an original whistle from the wreck, and blew a little bit of pressurized air into it... and we got to hear Titanic's voice for the first time, since the sinking.
I would like to know more about how the sound was recorded in 1912. Where was the phonograph located for the recording? Why was this horn recorded? It would have been like recording the alarm sounds on a 767 now. Did the White Star Line commission the recording? How was this recording preserved?
@4freespeech your a bastard. My great grandfather was one of the 1500 that died. so shut up, that ship was built to get to america, nobody thought she would sink

Titanic still scares people because the ship was built for the sole purpose
of DROWNING certain wealthy passengers who were standing directly in the
way of the Rothschilds European banking cartel's plans to create a PRIVATE,
ILLEGAL "Federal Reserve", (which is NOT federal and HAS NO reserves),
"bank" in the United States.
Titanic's engines were RELICS, her hull was THIN and her expansion joints
designed to GUARANTEE the ship would break apart under stress. It served
its purpose well.
