it's funny you said that shake cause we moved here in upstate ny back in early 90's and same thing happened. i remember when town of newburgh ny was all farms and people were nicer. everything changed, buildings were built, people moved in and crimes also followed. sad to see the changes that came along with our progress.
I met my twin brother on the Big Island and we stayed in the Kailua-Kona area for 10-days. This is so surreal, because we drove this route many times! Kona is touristy, yet has a cool, laid back vibe. The people on the Big Island are very friendly and more outgoing than on the other islands, if you are friendly and respectful towards them.
