Hoping to get something new up here before too much longer. A lot of the stuff I do is for development and the studios don't want that stuff to get leaked.

HEY SETH! What do you use to draw? Is it a wacom tablet or something else? How much did it cost?

@elliotschest I draw on a Wacom Cintiq...as does most of the animation industry now...they can be a bit pricey though so you might want to start with a Wacom tablet which can start at around $99 vs. $999 for the 12" cintiq.

It's a great show, I used to watch it all the time when it was on. But I think the channeling wasn't the right place for the show. If this was on cartoonnetwork's Adult swim I think it would have done a whole lot better than being on ABC, I don't have anything against ABC it's just they're more of a family network, and parents don't want kids seeing anything Tv 14. But hey, you have to take an opportunity when you see it. We can't pick who we wont to work for all the time. but great show man.=)

I usually don't like this kinda of show (I hate Family Guy), but I think the fact that it's done with cats makes it funnier. It has a good combination of crude humor and clever jokes.

I'm really bummed out I only found this show after it ended.

The original designs for the "Eddie" Character (around 0:43) DEFINITELY show a lot more personality. I just find it so strange that the designs for him ended up being so bland and uniform.

No collar, no stray hairs, just an easy bunch of square drawings to animate. I mean, there's no harm in being a little bit more... experimental with character design. Is there?

I'm with you.....unfortunately I didn't have final say on it. You're looking at the progression of 5 different network notes passes. I was happy with the second or third one. In General, I don't like to design and redesign and redesign and redesign characters because those multiple revisions rob the character of their originality.

That's a shame, and it certainly shows.. I was reluctant to watch the show at first, but the writing/delivery wasn't bad. Eddie's voice doesn't quite fit the character design he ended up getting, and it looks like you had to suck the "ethnicity" out of Louise.

ultimately I ended up liking the Final Design of Eddie. You get into his character and forget about the stuff at the beginning.  The problem with Eddie's voice was a whole other story. There was one actor that did the pilot but couldn't do the series because of a contract with another show. Then we had a different actor that the network really liked who recorded 8 episodes then the network changed their mind and we had to go back and rerecord those 8 episodes with a third actor.

Nope....haven't heard or seen it until just now. Slacker Cats was actually created about 6 or 8 years ago. You can find a pilot that was done by Will Vinton studios back then.

Not saying that. Ideas are born in a lot of people at the same time. I don't know that anyone ever intentionally strikes out to do something that's a direct rip off of something else. I only watch the first part of one episode where the guy was playing paintball with a robot. So I don't really see the connection between the two. Maybe just after that they pretend to be cats?

No, Seth. The resemblance is mostly in the comic itself, not that lazy animation he paid for.

After his abortion themed comic, people realized that the guy was pushing things too far.

It's actually typical of Buckley to even rip off other webcomic artists and get away with it.

The original pilot was done around 2001. I think the script was kicking around for a couple years before that. It was revived in 2007 by ABC Family and redeveloped as this incarnation of the show. The script of this pilot was basically the same script as one done in 2001 just different creative team producing it. It was written by Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley.

I don't know....seems like it's a fine line between really attractive and hideously ugly....like the width of a line difference in a feature on the face and all of a sudden you have a mongrel. I try to make my female character cute and likeable without going into crazy exaggerated proportions.

It must be tricky making someone plain because you can't really add imperfections like acne scars, red skin blemishes etc. without making the pic over complicated or a pain in the arse to animate (actually I don't think i've ever seen a cartoon character with acne scars come to think of it^_^)

there are six episodes yet to air. After that we'll see if they pick up more. Things don't get cancelled as much as they just don't get picked up for more episodes. So we'll see what happens.
