  • I go to school with his son hahaha

  • LLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

  • uhm...

  • he says a lot of ums

  • How can you be half Jewish? Lol like its possible to be half a religion.

  • my hero

  • He's gorgeous.

  • the way talent agents treat their assistants/entry level people is awful lol. I'm pretty sure these rich talent agents would have me killed if I worked for them.

  • So this is the REAL Ari Gold right?

  • @zirius89 if by Ari Gold, you mean Ari Emanuel. Then yes, Ari Gold is a charactor/fake. This is a real guy.

  • i like Ari he's the little brother of Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and his father was my pediatrician The Emanuel brothers are tough Jewish men. im half jewish

  • um...um

  • oh boy, I guess he could sell anything to anyone !

  • Content=Value. Value=Money. Ari's agency and his clients are not broke ass nerds in the Silicon Valley who will give out good content for free. Ari already built a name. He built the names of his client. So why should he be offering his content for free or a "fair" price. The market should dictate the price of his content...not some hackers who steal shit from companies. Screw that.

  • 33:26 hey ari

  • I want him to be my agent!

  • damn hes such a boss

  • whoa, the instant i heard his voice i could picture him saying "hug it out bitch"

  • This girl totally wants to jump his bones

  • Lloyd!!!!

  • @oneloveentourage

    no shit

  • This guy is a SHARK

  • 32:00

    Classic ari gold.

  • whos the asshole that disliked this?

  • this man is a god, just because of the fact that Ari Gold is based on him

  • Um-he demonstrates-um that he knows a great deal, but um-he seems to um-have problems as um-a public um-speaker.

  • now i know why ari gold is so amazing

  • hes a mudafuckin big deal

    hahahaha

  • "u gotta stop drinking so much wine" lolz!

  • It's stealing because Hollywood doesn't want to use different (obviously cheaper) ways to make its content available to everyone because it's gonna lower the profit in the traditional media(and so on).

There's a balance of price which will never satisfy everyone.. so some percentage will continue stealing.. (like the dude that annoyed Ari implied)

And it's *stealing because it's from Ari's pocket. otherwise, "he wouldn't give a FUCK"

  • i wonder what type of schooling you need to become an agent.

  • @nascar242083 none

  • Seth McFarlane has the biggest show on hulu...and web advertisement is worth a lot more than television advertisement because it's more targeted and more voluntary.

  • The red is hot!

  • Drewcipher: Actually, I stand corrected. He was an assistant to a Broadway dancer agent, NOT an intern. You're right.

  • I used to pal around with him back when he was in intern in New York, goingnout to the Empire Diner in his beat-up two tone blue and aqua VW van. Now he won't even Facebook friend me. But...

Thaaaaaaat's Ari! (Old Tonight Show Theme).

  • this guy is my f**ing hero

  • @iheartx3tine Fuck yeah. This dude rocks!! I wanna aspire to be like him.

  • BOSS!!

  • He is such a fucking asshole. Genetic garbage. Not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.

  • Content is content in this conversation. Art is dead.

  • that host looks very horny

  • Ari Gold came out around the 30 minute mark.

  • God Damn Julia is Hot!! Is she interviewing someone?

  • An immensely fascinating discussion about how "transmedia producers" monetize themselves, their social network, and their "effort." What I see as missing in that conversation is how the economics of abundance come into play. I don't think it's helpful though, to be absolutely stuck on content sharing = stealing. In order for the conversation to continue, we need to accept it and move on.

  • The general perception is 'piracy' is not stealing. Ari gave an example of his son watching dogs. Was this video copied from the original uploader to a different account /site? Bet no one checked. Did the original uploader loose potential advertising $ because of this? Is this stealing?

  • @StilezC I've met and dealt with quite a few agents, and I can assure you , that's not the way it is done. Most agents are the some of most careful, diplomatic people I've ever met. Sure there is the occasional bully, like the legendary Mike Ovitz. But Ovitz pushed too hard and is no longer welcome anywhere in Hollywood.

But my point was not his demeanor, but the fact that he was misinformed -- he didn't understand piracy or its causes. Although once we get angry, we've lost the argument.

  • It would be comical if it weren't so pathetic that uniformed people like Emanuel will shape a huge dopey portion of the Web content coming our way. Just another Hollywood cornball looking to milk anything that comes his way.

There's nothing this guy is saying that is news. He's actually behind the curve and thinks he's got his finger on the pulse.

He's a reptile. Go back and watch the video, he never looks at Boorstin. He yells at anyone who disagrees him. What a creepy insecure little guy.

  • @CliffG its what agents are suppose to do. they are suppose to get what there clients want. they are suppose to yell at anyone that disagrees or says no to them. its there job. if they dont get what they want, they dont get paid. they dont get paid, they dont get there house. and when they dont get what they want, they curse out the person who declined him, they make stories up, and hope that by doing so will get him what he wants.

  • Some fail to realize that it is called SHOWBUSINESS for a reason. The artist/content creator focuses on the ART part and guys like Ariel, agents, studios, producers, stations, brands, lawyers, sponsors, etc, focus on the BUSINESS part. The only artists that try to do it themselves are either too ambitious, too stupid, or too broke, playing music down the street to buy lunch. Everyone plays a certain part. Thats why it is an ECOSYSTEM and not a 1man show. Oprah's show alone has 400 staff to make

  • I would have paid a nickel to watch this.

  • Piracy will NEVER be stopped - if a movie, tv show, etc can be viewed, it can be copied. Hollywood, accept this fact and figure out a way to deal with it and stop whining about 'stealing'. Musicians will still make music, filmmakers will still make films, but the middlemen like Ari who have gotten rich and powerful off the backs of their clients will happily disappear!

  • He is so curiously defensive, even somewhat insecure.

  • @shenyuluoyan I disagree with that statement. I think he's a very wise businessman. He has managed to take over Hollywood. Will his business sense keep his business going strong? Only time will tell.

  • I enjoyed this chat. In short, Ari and others like him will follow the money.

  • I like his alter-ego, Ari Gold a lot better!

  • also, what a schmuck

  • wow, looks like Ari does all the work and makes all the decisions -- his clients are just bystanders. ha.

  • Can't help but wonder if Ari and other agents/intermediaries will be cut out of the action as content creators go directly to distributors.

  • Fair is where we end up.

  • Fascinating!! And thank you for filming- it's just like being there!!

  • Don't agree that 99¢ is too low for a song. Not by a long shot. That makes a 10-song album (which is a bit light) $9.99 – a very reasonable price for not having the CD and packaging, etc, which is usually $11.99-$14.99.

  • Amazing conversation, it's great to see where Ari Gold's character came from! Fragmentation is changing everything, tough waters for the studios to navigate!

  • lol...news is entertainment now...RIP Neil Postman..we are amusing ourselves to death.

  • last thing, this whole conversation proves the crucial need to teach McLuhan from scratch beginning with his Cambridge thesis on Thomas Nashe up until Laws of Media, this is Descent into the Maelstrom, hardcore, this people have no interest in what floats.

  • So this guy Ari, he agrees his industry is a bunch of lazy goolyahnz regarding making a platform of availability to ppl, in this world, who want the content. No wonder the first commentator thinks he's what he said. Bottom line is this, apple created the bazaar, this guy and his ilk are still spit shining the cathedral. There is no platform, netflix is not a platform, it's a niche thing for a bunch of yuppies in the states, who cares? it means nothing. Until these morons realize that the

  • @WOMP2007 audience is everything and representation is meaningless w/out it, piracy won't go away. when you can keep a caveman from hunting, you win. they have to provide affordable room service for a caveman and they need to stop driving so fast in a sports car that they navigate their ideas by looking in the rear view ONLY. the same is in every content industry, NIN sold out the 300 collector edition in one day, 750 grand, in a day, the rest were fair pkgs ending it w/ free mp3.

  • @WOMP2007 the lesson is in NIN, and NIN figured it out by casing out Radiohead. You guys, you fucking, for the record CURB has sucked since season 5, you want a platform that will work, hire Bram Cohen and the guys from the Pirate Bay already, you fucking hippies!

  • @WOMP2007 read this from oldest to newest nonlinear sacs

  • I say one of the smartest men in the world

  • @Bermbank whatever.

  • @WOMP2007 I'm confused, what are you "whatevering"

  • @Bermbank it's a frustration of mine that by merely saying something like using the internet for its promotional use is stealing, and it's annoying that this guy sez he's ok if people don't watch movies on netflix, but if they aren't available they should have to wait? it's 2010, the rhetoric of this guy, the fictional character on entourage, the rhetoric of morality regarding content acquisition online, because he admits there is no platform to satisfy consumers is an indefensible stance.
