wolkswagen park assist is the best. is uses sensors to track an empty space whyle moving, paralele or perpendicular, and youcan also get out of the car, totaly empty car. also when you come back and unlock the car it pulls out of the parking space on the street and waits for you to gen in and drive.

How involved does the driver have to be in this process? I think i heard in another video that the driver still has to operate the petals? is this true? or do you just have to operate the shift lever?

But they did. VW has been using a identical system in their production cars since 2007. I have that option (called Park Assist) in my car.

The Lexus system is totally different though, and it makes use of the reverse camera.
