I think most Chinese have also come to expect a degree of freedom and hedonism with celebrations and when they see an anachronistic stolid military march celebration, they may see how anachronistic their entire government is.
In an environment of uncensored and free exchange of information YES. Yet, I taught throughout various cities in China for 5 years. Had several 1000's of young adult students and 90% say they do not deserve freedom and always defend the (hive) government to censor them and restrict them and are so deluded as to how the outside world actually functions. It's quite a profound psychological phenomena. I just don't get it. Heavy indoctrination process from childhood on?
It's changed a bit in the past few years but the indoctrination is considerable, although not as heavy as it used to be or as it was in Cambodia. In Cambodia, the government was able to convince the entire young generation to report and send over a million of their parents, relatives, adults, teachers, and officials to death.
Chinese Communist Party celebrated:
60 years of oppression!!!
60 years of dictatorship!!!
60 years of corruption!!!
60 years of crimes!!!
60 years of murder!!!
60 years of cunning propaganda!!!
CCP killed more innocent people than Nazi Hitler killed!!!

They deserve so much better. Such a great people, such a low grade government, how is this possible?
