  • Everytime I think I'm pretty damn good at guitar, I always find a video like this showing me how much more I could learn. Nice house btw

  • So funking fucky.

  • it sounds like i am buying something in gran turismo.lol Nice Playing!

  • That was fuckin great!

  • He look's like Mike from american choppers

  • Omg! Omg! I thought that Canadian guy with the tapping & percussion was good, until I came across THIS video!!! I think I even heard a Brazilian batucada there & some Indian tabla-inspired riffs somewhere!

I think there's an obvious difference between a guitarist playing percussion and the other way around.

Nice jazz comping btw! :) Smokin'!

  • Simply brilliant.

  • Playing at the 2011 L.A. Guitar Festival...check out the video!

  • awesome!

  • Try playing this with the Ghost system or a Roland GR55. Bass on one string, percussion on another, and chords on the rest. You would sound even more amazing.

  • awwwwwwwwww............esome!

  • Holy crap! What a monster.

  • I think someone has been paying attention to the bass guitar player Victor Wooten and his right hand technique.

  • @hadmyphill amen bruder

  • His hands aren't making nearly as much movement to match the sound they are making.

  • ouch !!!!

  • even cuck norris can't do that!

  • he's pulling up on the pickup plate to make it snap.

  • Man this would make bassists green with envy

  • awesome

  • insane

  • that almost matched my passion for slap bass

  • waah how does he do that?

  • watch?v=ovpqrUGv9Ko

  • uuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaauuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

  • ilove ur song

  • i just got down talking to him and buying picks at the store he works at. he is super nice

  • Wicked!

  • Greatest video you ever posted Matt Smead

  • this is sooooo sickkk

  • mate...that is cool!!

  • sickkkk!!!

  • Aaaaaamazing

  • his in anothr world his face so funny yet so amazing

  • Ben is THE MAN! I've known him from the Lexington music scene since about 1990.

He has been doing the finger picking percussion thing for over 10 years.

He was always the greatest in town and has now proven to be one of the greatest on earth. Finally he is getting some renown.

  • my jaw actually dropped

  • i dont get how he is doing this, can anyone explain?

  • Only Ben knows for sure.

  • hammer ons with the left hand, same with the chords. those are mostly just hammered, but the technique that is getting him that percussive sound is his thumb and first two fingers. the thumb gets one beat going down and one going up, and when you throw the first fingerin there on the high strings AND a hammer on with the left hand, you get 4 beats. of course it's awesome what he's doing, and it may sound easy, but it takes a bit of work to get consistency. you can do it. lookup wooten.

  • that was sick! 5stars

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah give me the grooove man yeah :D

  • His style is like Victor Wooten and Kaki King.

  • check out justin king, he does this on an acoustic

  • No. Similar, but Ben's techniques are different, and unique, and more unattainable than Justin's. Watch closely. And listen.

  • incredible!

  • Got a bit of Tuck Andress going on there! Awesome technique and lovin' the percussive guitar!=}

  • this guy is effortless

  • I love seeing people like Lacey and Regi Wooten expanding the normal limits of guitar!

  • Wow this is the first time I see this style of playing. Really interesting and wonderful.

Thanks for sahring your experience! :)

  • hes really a white guitar playing Victor wooten... Victors brother does exactly the same thing...

  • not the exact same thing. this guy plays WAY more coherrantly than reggie. don't get me wrong... reggie is great... but this guy is doing something way more unique, his right hand is way more percussive than reggie. that latin groove at the end is great!

  • fucking badass

  • hi, you're excellent! how can you drum so strong on electric guitar? that's amazing, real good percussionist, thanks for demonstration on guitar

  • This guy is so good it's rediculous, very cool!!!!

  • lol, u know he was always getting in trouble for drumming on his desk in school. Paid off though didn't it!!!

  • That's like, the ULTIMATE rhythm guitarist.

  • Thats mor that just Rhythem, he's playing lead, bass, and drum parst at the same time

  • some cool rhythm changes. Ben's great technique just gets stuck in your head!
