Omg! Omg! I thought that Canadian guy with the tapping & percussion was good, until I came across THIS video!!! I think I even heard a Brazilian batucada there & some Indian tabla-inspired riffs somewhere!
I think there's an obvious difference between a guitarist playing percussion and the other way around.
Try playing this with the Ghost system or a Roland GR55. Bass on one string, percussion on another, and chords on the rest. You would sound even more amazing.
hammer ons with the left hand, same with the chords. those are mostly just hammered, but the technique that is getting him that percussive sound is his thumb and first two fingers. the thumb gets one beat going down and one going up, and when you throw the first fingerin there on the high strings AND a hammer on with the left hand, you get 4 beats. of course it's awesome what he's doing, and it may sound easy, but it takes a bit of work to get consistency. you can do it. lookup wooten.
not the exact same thing. this guy plays WAY more coherrantly than reggie. don't get me wrong... reggie is great... but this guy is doing something way more unique, his right hand is way more percussive than reggie. that latin groove at the end is great!
Everytime I think I'm pretty damn good at guitar, I always find a video like this showing me how much more I could learn. Nice house btw

Ben is THE MAN! I've known him from the Lexington music scene since about 1990.
He has been doing the finger picking percussion thing for over 10 years.
He was always the greatest in town and has now proven to be one of the greatest on earth. Finally he is getting some renown.

No. Similar, but Ben's techniques are different, and unique, and more unattainable than Justin's. Watch closely. And listen.
