  • Fender is full of s#it.

  • How do you spell the name of the 60's strat pickguard ?

  • are these guitars made in usa?

  • @lulilubaa no mexico

  • and why no mid priced fender p basses!!!

  • That guitar is made in USA japan or mexican

  • How do they relic the neck like that? Does someone know how i can find a "how to video"?

  • @HallzonCraft The finished fretboards are sanded and then slightly dyed to make the spots look dirty. They do it in positions that an average player would use the most for rhythm and solo sections to make it look convincing. there really ain't much more to it.

  • Unfortunately, I've tried at least 20 of these over the last year and all of them had terrible fretwork.

  • aww man i wanna have that 60's sunburst!

  • what's the song on the background?

  • 27 people said. " I'm not buying those guitar they have scratches"

  • are these guitars professional standard?

  • better the japan strato or the road worn?

    sorry my bad english.

  • There made in Mexico that guitar

  • Love the Fender Road Worn guitars, especially the nitro finish!!!!

  • Shexy

  • I don't get it. Get a new guitar a wear it out yourself. Some of these road worn guitars look like shit. When I see a line of these in a store (they're all worn the same way and look identical to each other), I gag. So much for individuality and true character. I wonder what these will be worth 30-40yrs. from now. I dunno.

  • give me a 2007 highway one sss strat over the road worn any day!

  • Made in Mexico. For some reason Japanese Fenders are CIJ (crafted in Japan) instead of MIJ.

  • whats MIM?

  • @punkiassjunki Made in Mexico

  • the price is cheap but the sound sonud cheap?

  • I cant figure out how to put strings on the Road Worn strat.

Someone please help me! Do you know a good lesson on how to put strings on this guitar? :-)

    Best Regards !!

  • @DanskeSange

Yeah, go outside and give your guitar to somebody who can actually use the guitar correctly.

  • @DanskeSange

from the back of the guitar in the little wholes

  • artificial "relics" are over...the real thing is back

  • The only flaw they had on the road worn guitars was the fretboard radius

  • POSERS!

  • "this guitar has definately seen some smokey bars" - no it's seen a factory and a music shop, and that's it.

  • What is the background music of the video?

  • wear it out your self man its more fun.lol why dont they sell some road worn underwares.

  • I want a 60's reissue next year with a faster neck and a rosewood fretboard. Cream body and maybe something like red or blue?

  • are there also squier road worn?

  • id rather wear my own out

  • The Strat and Tele with maple neck dont look convincing at all...as you would expect with a budget relic. If you know what a real vintage looks like and the characteristics of the wear then you will know what i mean. The bass versions i have seen don't look to bad but are more expensive.

  • I had a RW strat. Pretty ok after having the sharp edges of the frets filed off, getting the frets dressed properly and adding a bone nut. But they are seductive to the mind because they are affordable and look like they've lived in dirty honky tonks for 40 years.

  • finally a relic guitar that is not over priced ...why won't they have them made in USA?

  • these road worn series where is from? USA or Mexico?

  • @ANIBALENRIQUEZ

    Mexico.

But a mate of mine has 2 genuine L series strats that I've played, and I'm telling you, if you closed your eyes you wouldn't be able to tell the $40,000 dollar difference.

  • @ANIBALENRIQUEZ - mexico

  • @ANIBALENRIQUEZ its actually made in both. the parts are made in the us but its put together in Mexico (like only an hour across the broader tho) that's why its more then a Mexican made but less then a American made

  • mexico

  • IMHO this is just for those folk that would like to appear like they are road worn guitarists...

  • Faking the ageing process or not ,

these road worn will for sure sound pretty good in 25 years time ..

    ( only in good hands !! )

  • i like Fiesta Red precision 50s...it's a monster!!!!

  • the 60's strat should come with maple fretboards, too

  • Rosewood was theo nly option in the 60s...

  • that means jimi hendrix played a 50s strat half all the time

  • this guitar should come with a maple fretboard, too

  • the road worn strats arnt even close to the classic customshop strats or the 2007 highway one sss strats this is a fact not some empty bullshit opinion!

  • At some point I'll probably go for one of these... sunburst looks awesome

  • I love the worn out pickguards and the smaller nicks and dents, but the big scratches and paint chippings just look too fake

  • Road worn series are made in Mexico am I correct?

  • yes it´s right

  • Best aspect of these guitars is the nitrocellulose finish. It's legal to spray it in Mexico, illegal in the USA.

Anyone who's played a nitro finished guitar knows how real, and magic it feels. Thin and soft, not hard and plastic like a poly finish guitar.

They come dull, but it's easy to polish them up.

Besides that, they are fantastic guitars with killer pickups, solid Strat hardware, amazing feel and playability.

The real question is what fool would buy a custom shop relic with these around.

  • 50's strat or 60's strat

  • What kind of fool would buy one of these?

  • because an old guitars hardware will have its problems

  • why wouldn't you just buy an old guitar?

  • Because an old guitar costs an absolute fortune, and are as hard to find as the thousands of dollars required to buy one. And beaten up guitars look cool.

But of course they aren't to everyone's taste.

I played the 60s Strat today. It was magic. :)

  • this recession is no joke

  • Just curious if anyone has had a allergic reaction to these?? I played a gig a couple weeks back in a hot

environment and broke out the next day. Sounds crazy, but I thought i would see...

  • although i think they look great i kinda wonder if their already aged, as they get older would they start looking worse with age, i mean id hate to buy one for that money and then after like 10 years or so it starts looking jacked up, and the hardware needs replacing ect. id rather get a new one beat it up myself, this way its worn where i neglect it, and clean where i baby it.

  • its all acid wash and such, not real age.

  • why did they stop with the nitro-celliouse lack?

  • Hey! Why not make pre-worn cars? With rust blooming and failing electronics?

The problem with the roadworn series is that it tries to gimmick the personal feeling of a guitar that has been with you through many gigs and miles, but theres nothing like a guitar that you've worn yourself, it becomes a part of you.

  • Buddy of mine owns a guitar shop that sells tons of real vintage guitars, bass, amps, etc. He took a trade in not long ago. A guy had a strat that was relic'd by some well-known guy in L.A. He showed it to me. I played it. It sucked. Jim thought so too, and said he'd never have another "relic'd piece of s***" on his walls. His REAL vintage guitars are in pristine condition. He, (like myself and most owners) cringes when he scratches one. He said "$400 guitar with $900 worth of damage. Sad."

  • the 50's p bass is the nicest bass i have ever played . the one piece maple neck is soooo sweet worth every penny .excellent craftmanship came out of the factory set up perfectly the first bass i have ever seen do that , no to mention the nitro-celliouse coating like the 50's make this puppy sing ,

  • andy is so monotone

"the finish in either two tone sunburst or fiesta red" x2 lol

  • I don't care what anyone says, I'm buying one. I'm gonna put JB Jr's in the neck and bridge, like Dave Murray.

  • I've played these roadworn strats, all four colors and each one frets out on the high E string starting at the 12 fret all the way down to the 21 fret. I guess it is because of the 7.25 neck radius. Other than that, the roadworn strats are great, but I wish it was sold cheaper. Now the Highway One strats are selling for $699 and they don't fret out on the high E string.

  • pfft do what i did and buy like a shity squire, throw some EMG's in it and age the shit out of it with a screwdriver (for dents) and some sand paper

    turned out pretty nice

  • lol i did the same. only i put vintage noiseless pickups on it instead of EMGs

  • 950 will break my bank so i don't what he is talking about

  • i love my rw tele

  • OK, give me your strat and I'll make it road worn for only 50$

  • You wont find a better "Nitro" Strat on earth for $750. These RW are designed in the USA Custom Shop and assembled in Mexico.

  • time to head to mars...

  • eu tinha uma fender

  • oh YEEAAAAH Fenders now selling OLD BEATEN UP GUITARS for more money than ever. This is literally the silliest thing I've ever seen in the history of major product releases. I don't want a f**king artificially aged guitar, that's the lamest thing I can think of.

  • exactly, just let it age naturally. im getting a strat tomorrow and i dont wanna pay like 400 more bucks for it to be aged. it will age throught time and shit

  • yes sure, you'll age it with time, LMAO. You'll have sold the guitar in a year or two and bought something else. To age your own Strat you'd have to keep it for 30 years, now how the fuck you gonna do that if you sell your guitars, like all guitarists do?

  • Haha, got that right. I've had my custom Schecter Corsair for less than a year, and I'm already bored.

  • dude, it's you that backward, not Fender. Get with it.

  • Not as lame as Gibson's Reverse Flying V LOL

  • does anyone know about how much a slightly used '05 mexico strat would be worth?

  • 300 or 350 it depends on condition

  • If Fender let's me borrow a couple of Strats & Teles, I'll bring em back REAL ROAD WORN! xD

  • I dont know man, I think Fender is making some bad moves. Jacking up the prices 30% across the board in a recession. And this scratching up their MIM guitars and charging $1000 for them just doesnt appeal to me. I mean, they look sort of cool I guess. I just cant imagine that I would ever buy one. I figure if I wanted that I would pick up a used MIM and sand it up myself and save $700.

  • They are still better than Gibson...3000 for a LP is just a waste of money...

  • the epiphones dont sound/feel THAT much diffrent.

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso Well said!!

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso

its not really a waste of money, some are just attracted so badly to it and get all means to get it. les paul is nice and has its uniqe taste....

    i use fenders btw...

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso It matters what LP ur getting....Some cost 800-1000, some cost 1000-2000 and some cost 2000-3000 and some cost 3000+

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso agreed!!!

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso i love a gibson but their prices are just outrageous...

  • @rokkerdude8 Just buy a used one, that way someone else has paid the depreciation..LOL

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso

If I want a les paul I buy a made in japan Tokai there better quality and half the price .

    you should check them out.

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso If you can afford one, there's really no comparison between a LP custom and the standard. I own a fairly decent, older standard, which is one of the nicer ones i've played, but was completely blown away by one of the special run customs i played the other day. Different league of guitar

  • @LEPRECHAUNdropmeso yeah, and the fender sounds better. modern LPs sound muddy to me...

  • These aren't just MIM standard Strats. There are quite a few differences. Too many to list here, but it's all on the Fender site. Look 'em up, and you'll see what you're paying the extra dough for. It sucks they had to go and beat them up like they do, but they are a far nicer guitar than the standard MIM Strat.

  • @coronet67 Don't blame Fender. Think of it this way, Fender is more than just a guitar maker, they are a guitar COMPANY, which means they want to make a profit, who doesn't? People buy these reliced guitars, and they are actually pretty popular, Fender is going to do what it needs to sell, and if that includes playing soccer with a Strat body in the parking lot, they'll do it. It's a real easy way to get more money.

  • @coronet67 Pretty ignorant statement there considering a MIM Standard Strat does not have: a Vintage radius neck with heel truss rod adj, 6105 frets, Nitro Finish, Deluxe Vintage Tuners, full size steel trem block, and Tex Mex pickups. You can go buy a MIM Standard and sand it down, but that's all you will have...a sanded down MIM Standard Strat with inferior neck, finish, hardware and pickups.

  • hey r every road worn fender guitars made in mexioco:S:S ?

  • i think they are cuz if they were made in usa they would be like crazy expensive

  • If you once had a 66 Telecaster that was totaly worn in ,and you stupidly sold it years ago and can't afford to ever get that guitar back again, there are these. Though I would buy custom shop relics over these because of the certificate of authenticity. I think it would probably give it more resale value. If you have ever played a newer guitar, depending, most of them feel sticky on the neck. Anyway for a grand they are sort of a deal. It's just like being $200 used jeans or vintage clothes

  • WHY IN HELL!?!?

Why would anybody want to buy a worn guitar!?

  • it's justfor the looks, really.

or some kid going around and saying

'hey, i got my dads guitar that he had for 50 years!'

lol..just play your new american strat and let it relic on its own, people.

  • i really dont know. i can understand actual old guitars though because guitars get better as they age

  • just think of a worn in baseball glove

  • Looks aside these guitars sound great and feel great. Whether you buy into the relic look is up to you, but don't dismiss these guitars and basses based on that as they represent a new level of quality from the Mexico plant. The 50s P bass I bought easily outplayed a more expensive competitor. I didn't buy for the looks, but I do like them. BTW polyester finished guitars just won't age like nitrocellulose ones no matter how often you play them. As for posing, it's part of being a muso no?

  • If someone wants a guitar thats worn... PLAY IT SO IT IS WORN! Posers...

  • Let me get this straight....so, in 50 yrs., when these "Road Worn" imposters are truly worn...will it be worth DOUBLE then???

uh no, collectors won't bite. They'll be worthless. These are a sham.

  • play your guitar everyday like you should and it will wear from you.......posers

  • Played it less than 10 minutes and bought it....amazing.

  • I played one of these the other day, and they are very nice, as good as an Am Standard (yes, really). However I wasn't about to pay USA prices for a Mexican guitar, so I don't see the market for it...

  • Hell I'd rather go on Ebay and buy a Beatup one for about half the price, Or I'll beat um up myself! It's a MIM, I'm sure.

Now that they raised the prices about 30 to 35 % so they can catch up to Gibson.

  • I think this pisses off all the people who paid thru the nose for their custom shop relics, you should have waited guys, I have one ..a blonde one telecaster...same thing, swap out the pickups if you like and you'll have the tele of your dreams. I like it stock as is.

  • are these even american?

  • Nope, all Road Worn models are Made in Mexico.

  • Mexi.

  • 50's strat owns!!!! :)

  • $950 is still a lot of money. hopefully i can afford one when i get my summer job!

  • What model is this based on? I love the road worn but can't afford it.

  • Based on an old ass fender (:

  • LOL

send me all your guitars, folks out there,

add some bucks for shipping and i send ém

    back VERY roadwoooorn.

Happy hours dayly: send two and get one worn

and one townshended ( or hendrixed, adds burning)

  • Aww dude i played a roadworn strat yesterday (two tone sunburst) and the neck feels SOOOO good lol it's not even funny. the destressing on the body looks a little...i don't really want to say fake...but i think you get what i mean. other than that, great guitar!

  • The necks are amazing.

  • what's the song playing in the background?

  • what do they do to wear them down?

    what technique? and why?

  • prolly rough sanding

  • GOD they look damn good

  • Just think, it used to be some people would play the same guitar for years and decades, wearing the grease, the smoke, the lights, the sounds of raging plexis, singing supers, the whiskey, the beer, the blood, the tears, their very soul into the finish and fretboard of that prized pawnshop special.

Three chords and the truth. Or some facsimile thereof.

  • It will be mine - oh yes, it will be mine!

  • lol

  • haha

  • the telecaster is really sick...i played it through a vox and it sounded amazing.

  • Dude dont ever try taking sandpaper to a guitar to make it look vintage, it just makes it look like you sanded it

    big mistake

  • these are extremely good sounding i just played a tele one of these at GC and it sounded amazing thru a fender frontman which is solid state and it felt great

  • Wouldnt some sandpaper be cheaper?

  • Made in Mexico.. I hope they do a Jazzmaster next year. Plus if any one from fender is listening you guys should do a n.o.s at this price point too. It would relic quicker more unique to each individual. Prob easier to produce too.

  • NOS at this price???!?!? It's completely beyond the price range of double the value of this. It's like asking them to do a Squier Time Machine. They are simply non-compatible terms.

  • are these mexican models that they use?

  • Yes,they are,and cost a little bit more than the classic series nos.

    cheers

  • I definitely want a 60's sunburst strat, but i i dunno about $950 for a mexican strat.

By the way the 50's strat, 60's strat and 50's tele are $950. the jazz bass is $1250, the p bass is $1200.

  • having played one in stores i can tell you that theyre fuckin stunning. the guy had just put it on the wall, and i grabbed it, tried it, and put it on hold. thats the first time ive ever reserved a guitar after 15 minutes of playing. i would honestly take this over a new american strat. the sound is pretty much just as good, its the feel, and the comfort of the body and neck that makes this equal if not superior. it feels like an old friend, or an old t-shirt. truly fantastic.

  • I agree with JIMMYJIBLETS - I bought the 50's tele in yellow after about 10 minutes of playing it. It is amazing.

  • wish there was a road worn 70s strat..

  • sweet. i can get a "used" guitar with a new warranty haha.

  • haha

  • So much for the scratch & dent special discount :)

  • lol! I wonder If part of the aging process is just a bunch of people smoking in a room with these guitars! what a great job that would be :P

  • how much are these gonna cost when they hit the uk... mainly i wanna know the price of the jazz

  • in the us they are advertised as about $950. i dont know if that helps you at all though.

  • They look great, should sell well!

  • sooo they're all out of stock already??

  • Fender Road Worn guitars are due to arrive at ProGuitarShop on Wednesday January 7th!

  • i can't freakin wait! would it be poossible for you guys to put up the specs on the site before then though?

  • GGGREAT!!

    ProGuitarShop ROCKS!!!

  • Personally the tex-mex are a let down.. but I'd love to drop in some Big Dipper's or EJ's in them. With that beautiful Nitro Lacquer these are sure to sell.. Any chance the necks on the 60's are relic'd as well IE sanded and tinted on the back?

  • I'm gonna guess they're made in Mexico.

  • i sure hope they are! i always wanted a cheap relic

  • I hear they are gonna have a street price of about $950, which sure beats the hell out of 3,000+ custom shop deal

  • What is the price? And is it a Mex or american?

  • i want one now....

  • How are these different from the current relics? Try under 1000 bucks! They look great to me.

  • awesome, and it's about time! they look good. I didn't hear any mention about bigger fret wire on them, I have read they're to have 6105s. I hope.

  • I was waiting anxiously for those. Just a little let down because of confirmation of the pickup choice, but that probably helps to keep the lower price. Really loved the finish, that doesn't seem so far from the Custom Shop quality. I read that those are made in Mexico (if that matters to anyone) and finished in USA, but not confirmed yet..

  • pretty cool, but there still gonna be a good amount of money

  • I think I'd prefer a 60's vibe than a 50's.

  • please give me more info i want one NOW!

  • isnt it amazing how damage can look like beauty? those are some pretty awesome guitars.

  • Sounds pretty high dollar. I think I would rather relic an SX, and upgrade the electronics

  • omfg.... this is the very first time i've heard about these. they look fanfriggintastic. i think i see a 60s strat in my future!! when in 09 will they be come? any chance of preorders?

  • January 2009, yep, PGS is already doing it :)

  • i want that p-bass!

  • I know a lot of people won't like these, but I love the look of worn Fenders. Ironically, I almost completely lose it when my guitar gets the slightest ding.

  • cool!

are they made in mexico or usa?

  • Are these guitars and basses made in America or Mexico?
